Between the lines facts:
$200/square foot - 3 times going rate
$500,000 consulting fees - To whom?
$500,000 set aside for cost overruns - What value is the consultant?
$124,000 moving expenses - Really? Who's the mover?
25% tax increase.
40 year term
Undefined interest rate.
This bond was hastily written the day of the deadline to get it on the ballot. The wording is so vague that it amounts to a blank check to spend as the council pleases and to borrow for the next 40 years.

Go to the Santa Fe city website and read the actual bond proposal. It'll seal the deal against this monstrosity.

I heard the old pd is moldy and has foundation cracks, how do you propose we fix those things?

I toured the PD the other day. I saw a gross lack of maintenance, poorly executed remodeling, and inadequacy for the size of the department. By rescinding the "brickface" rule, eliminating the fluff, and reducing the size of the building to a reasonable footprint a new facility can be built for less than a million.

I guess those guys getting their new pd is far more important thn my sone being abl to play in the band next year. My family unfortunately will have to pass on purchasing him an instrument to give the boys in blue a fie star place to work.

There is much more than cleaning and painting needed. The structure has been poorly remodeled by God knows whom. Maintenance has been neglected. The city fathers are not interested in anything but a new building. All those in the decision making process are of one mind. George Orwell was right but a little ahead of his time. Can you say "groupthink"?
