It’s obvious you and I don’t agree, but what’s more important is what’s best for Santa Fe Springs. I’m sure people that read this forum would like know from a person like you who thinks they knows everything that goes on in this city, which out of the eight candidates would best lead our city?
I have to agree with those who say that Betty should not have run for re-election. I think Madrigal's heart is in the right place. Let's hope if he does get elected he stands on his own two feet and does not allow Gonzalez to lead him by the nose. Candidate & incumbent behavior during a campaign, how they present their platforms, beliefs, and "promises" is extremely important. It seems like signs disappear every election year. You mentioned Gary Mendez. I agree with you. He will not hesitate to use a smear campaign to gain votes. Sadly, he still gets votes. With Trujillo, I simply don't believe she brings anything to the table.

I do agree with you that it’s very important on how candidates present their platforms, beliefs, and promises. Unfortunately I haven’t heard them from all the candidates. It seems that some aren’t campaigning very hard. If you think your going to win because you have a lot of signs up or you have good endorsements, you’re wrong. I have seen five signs in front of a house when there are only three seats open. I have seen signs in front of houses who aren’t even registered to vote or who don’t vote period. I’ve also seen candidates endorsed by the firemen in the past lose elections as well. I will say this again, the one that goes door to door and campaigns the hardest will win this election.

Can any of you pull your head our already...if you have not only the time but the desire to post immature, ignorant, uneducated statements about candidates running for office, lord help you all! And get off the website and get a friggen life...

Yet you feel you can place judgement on individuals willing to make a change for an entire community...lets hear what you've done to positively change your community or even one person for that matter, i am confident NONE of you would have time for that right, nor the desire. AMAZING HOW FRIGGEN SHALLOW MINDED YOU PEOPLE ARE!

Hey! This time we agree on everything, including the signs! But how about we all not vote for Mendez!

I plan on attending the candidate forum at the Betty Wilson Center October 15th at 7:00 PM. This should be an interesting night and should give us a good understanding on these candidates. Besides the usual questions like:
Educational background
Profession
Why do you want to be on the City Council?
What experience do you have that makes you a good candidate for City Council?
What changes do you hope to make as a member of City Council?
What would be the first issue you would address as a member of the City Council?
I plan on writing in some of the tough questions that residents really want answered, hopefully the League of Women Voters will ask these questions.

Today I received a flyer from Jose Angel Zamora that reads, "Join Santa Fe Spring's Leadership in supporting Jose Angel Zamora for City Council". In this flyer there's no mention of his accomplishments or experience. All we see is a picture of him with his endorsements and who they are. I don’t care who endorses him. I care about his qualifications and what he’s going to do for this city. He has not proven anything to me yet. His next problem is who he has endorsing him. Clink on the link below to learn a little bit more about Norwalk City Council member Mike Mendez!

So I just sat here and read this entire bulletin to come to the same conclusion I had before I read it... None of the candidates that are running are remotely qualified for the position. Besides that fact, we have to appoint 3 candidates.
Mendez - how much more do you have to read to realize he is a crook and is just looking for an opportunity to keep surviving off of others? On top of the fact that he doesn't even live in the city.
Louie - as much as a crook as Mendez! Last time I checked my grade school teachers didn't drive no Lexus and send their children to private school unless their spouses had a generous income OR they knew how to use their city council position to their benefit. Has anyone seen how much the budget has suffered cause of this man???
Madrigal - there is obviously a reason for not being appointed after running various times; and even after those failures I still haven't seen any positive leadership from this man for me to vote for him the next time. All you see is him right behind Louie in every step he makes.
Hayes - cares for his community but has no leadership ability unless it deals with creating controversy.
Putnam - had her run at it and was good. Now its time for someone who understands today's world to make positive change.
Puentes - how can someone classify a woman who verbally abuses her team as a leader? All of a sudden being on as many boards as possible makes you qualified for council? More like get to know as many people as you can so you can get their vote even though you are not doing jack on these committees.
Zamora & Trujillo - care about their community and their honesty and integrity aren't in question. Leadership and experienced are learned on the job and with time.
Last time I checked I rather have a hard worker on my side than a crook or manipulator!!!
VOTE ZAMORA & TRUJILLO ON NOV. 3rd!!!

I'm with you on Zamora and Trujillo. But there are 3 seats open and, given your analysis of the other candidates, I would put Putnam back in for another term for several very good reasons. First, Zamora and Trujillo will need to learn the political ropes from someone who is HONEST, has a depth and breadth of knowledge about the community, and can help mold these two young people into the leaders they promise to be. Secondly, NO ONE can match Putnam when it comes to providing individual residents with the help they need from the city with their own particular problems. This is one reason Putnam has such a large and loyal group of supporters. Finally, Putnam SHOWS UP for city events.(Didn't someone famous once say that 90% of success in life is just showing up?) Putnam was at the Los Nietos Halloween festivities, as usual, last night. I stayed until 7:30 and didn't see any other Council person there. Finally, she may never be as fast on her feet or even with her words as she was before her accident, but she can still voice her opinion when it counts.(She has already talked one committee out of unnecessary spending.)

And we will never have to question her motives or loyalties. She does it all "for the people".

Let's make it Zamora, Trujillo, and Putnam on Tuesday.

I verbally abuse my team?? REALLY?? that is why my players both past and present still keep in touch with me on a "REGULAR" almost "DAILY" basis. Their parents have all expressed their love and support. I don't try to get on committees I am on committees. I have been in City Hall at my planning commission meetings twice a month for the past 7 years I know first had the daily details and what it takes to run city hall. Thank you for posting your "OPINION" but that is all it is "YOUR OPINION" But I am not just someone "TRYING" to get involved. Yesterday 30 of my players Past and Present had dinner with me NONE of them seemed "VERBALLY ABUSED" Take Care and Not matter what happens tomorrow I am proud of myself for having the courage to RUN and taking a STAND. I didn't accuse you of abusing your players, Lillian; "Born and Raised" did. I've never seen you coach. I'm guessing "Born and Raised" has and is probably one of your players' parents. But I've never met a coach who didn't have to deal with hypersensitive parents. Sports is a passionate pursuit and the players understand passionate coaches. As long as your language is clean, I don't see a problem. And I commend you for choosing to step into the political arena. Win or lose, you are setting a good example of citizenship for your students. But I'm still voting for Jose, Juanita, and Betty!

Zamora's honesty and Integrity not in question? You have to be kidding! He lives in the same house as a child predator, his father. You would think he would come clean with this and let Santa Fe Springs residents know about it so they can make their own conclusions. Not only that, he has not one bit of experience to do the job.

Juanita Trujillo, like Zamora has no experience at all and Betty Putnam can’t put a thought together since her accident.

Get real, you would have to a knuckle head to vote for these three!

As far as Louie, he drives a Lexus and sends his children to private school because he makes a decent living as a school teacher and his wife has a succesful business.
