C Lee Nickel wrote: <quoted text> Since that $800,000 was paid in fees by sportsmen expressly for the purpose indicated, it's not a "drain". The money wouldn't be there if sportsmen, off-roaders, ATV users, etc. didn't pay it. I'm no fan of Richardson, but his decision regarding the fees was the correct one. Sportsmen pay the fees believing they will be used for trail upkeep. Raiding that fund and using the money for something else would have been wrong, causing outrage among sportsmen who would likely not pay the fees in the future. Taxpayers are upset enough as it is. Taking what amount to a "tax" on the use of land that already belongs to us and using it for purposes it wasn't intended for would only aggravate an already ****-off electorate. Thank you C Lee. Now, then the same should hold true for the college scholarship fund. If we paid into it expecting it to be used for just that. It already belongs in the college fund, not meant to pay for government. This should be causing outrage among those who will be needing the college funds.

I agree that there has to be something different. Joe Arpaio is not what you want. You don't want people who violate the laws to run the prisons. I do agree that the prisons need to be run differently. That might be the one thing that Joe does OK.

Read it wrote: As someone who lived in Arizona for over a decade, and being a notorious arch-conservative, I'm not one who is going to believe the East Valley Tribune nor their point of view. http://www.gunslot.com/pictures/e-valley-trib... For those who know Arizona history going back to the 1980's, I supported Evan Mecham when he was governor, and believe he was railroaded, which leads me to my opinion of what came to be know as the "Phoenix Forty" and the liberal papers who basically engineered a coup to remove Mecham from office. Joe Arpaio is doing the job that the Federal Government should be doing as far as illegal immigration goes. The State of Arizona has funded many of Arpaio's programs. He's repeatedly re-elected by a vast majority of his constituents. Basically, he's the type of old-style hard line sheriff that one sees in old movies..almost a caricature, but in a good way. I respect Joe Arpaio. He's the kind of no-nonsense sheriff who all sheriff's could take lessons from.

The fact that the governor can pick and choose what funds he can steal from in order to cover his excesses elsewhere is an indication of the complete mismanagement of our state government. It's unfortunate that our state government has grown beyond it's means. It's unfortunate that under a future administration people may lose their government jobs out of necessity. The jobs probably shouldn't have been created in the first place.

We take a look around and we can see what Richardson and his ilk have done. Where will the government be when the free enterprise folks quit paying all the bills altogether? We the people are shutting in, cutting back and maybe that is good, in a way. The government will not have anyone left to fund it and it will eventually have to downsize. If we make the bureaucrats tighten up this could be a good thing. I may have a brand new perspective for the hard times ahead. If my business can weather the storm.

Illegal brown people are breaking the law too. It is easy to call a racist when he enforces a law that primarily is broken by "brown" people. If the brown people would come to this country legally and in the proper manner Joe would leave them alone. When they sneak in, then flaunt their status, we all have a problem with it. But it seems the "brown" people want special treatment.

So white people deserve special treatment of the freedom from harassment over our hispanic citizens on the basis of color. Take time and read the articles. The guy is a self promoting bozo with no respect for the law.

But it seems the "brown" people want special treatment. Exactly. I don't know if any of Arpaio's critics around here have ever been to Maricopa County, let alone Arizona. There is quite a high percentage of "brown people" on the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department. They handle the calls against illegals just like everyone else. Incidentally, some of the harshest critics against illegal aliens coming into this country are "brown people" who came here the right way, legally. They are among the most loyal U.S. Citizens, and they deserve every advantage this nation has to offer. Illegals, on the other hand, flaunt our laws, and deserve nothing but a one way trip back where they came from.

Joe Arpaio is still standing as Sheriff, and the paper with the Pulitzer Prize is going out of business. http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/146579 A guess a Pulitzer Prize and buck seven will buy you a cheap cup of coffee, or a burger off the dollar menu at Mickey D's.
