Doing the right thing - even when no one is watching

Full story: The Deming Headlight

It took a collapsing economy to expose the moral bankruptcy of entrepreneurs like Wall Street investor Bernard Madoff, who was arrested recently on suspicion of defrauding clients of $50 billion in a ponzi scheme.

I am sincerely hoping a couple of businesses here read this and apply it to themselves.

Has anyone who has attempted to buy ammunition wondered why only the 2 gunshops have any? It's because they are going in every morning, very early, and buying out all that WalMart has received overnite. They then take it back to their shops, mark the price way up, and sell to you!!! Just talk to the store personnel - they'll tell you it's true. One guy said he almost had a fight right there at the counter because one of the gunshop owners wouldn't let a regular customer have some shells at the WalMart price. Told him he could come out to his place and pay his price for it or go without.

Talk about unfair business practices. The greed this represents is unreal.

Personally, I will buy any ammo I want or need in Las Cruces rather than buy from these cheats!

It is a great country we live in that allows people to have there own opinions. Unlike yours, I would have to say that allowing one person to buy all they want is up to them and you have the option to be there 5 minutes earlier than anyone else and buy what you would like and also resell it if you want.

you also may go to las cruces this is your option but why bad mouth a business person for doing business just because you don't like there policies or where they buy the merchandise they sell?

I normally agree with most of your posts, just not this one maybe next time. I wouldn't put too much faith in the second hand information received from the store clerk, it doesn't really ring true.

First off, you are wrong about one of the shops.

Secondly, if they want to get out of their bed and run to WalMart every morning and pay the same price you and I do, what's the problem? Welcome to free America!

There is not enough competition in Deming. We need new City Management and we need to fire Rick McInturff immediately.

Senate Bill #279. Passed on 04/03/09. No more "warrentless searches permitted by law enforcemnt officers inside domestic violence shelters".

Best dang law passed so far this year.

Whats still wrong though? The Dang Sheriff, RAYMOND COBAS took over the operations of the shelter and has spies and his deputies campaigning there and spying on those poor victims.

Just ask Lt Deputy Allen Carter, He was the one appointed by the Sheriff to "OVERSEE" the domestic violence shelter.

Do whats right Sheriff COBAS. Get your people OUT OF THE SHELTER NOW! MY GOODNESS HOW ARROGANT CAN YOU BE? YOUR STILL THERE OVERSEAING THE OPERATIONS OF THIS PUBLICALLY FUNDED SHELTER?

ALL YOU WANTED THIS FOR WAS THE PUBLICITY! MY GOODNESS ARE YOU STILL CAMPAIGNING IN THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER? DO the votes of those people victimized now have to put up with your re- election campaign too?

I find it very hard to believe the Luna County Democratic Party still supports you and your arrogant staff.

The Democratic Party in Deming and Luna have brought us: John Strand, Sammy "go bunny go" Baca, Dona "I am the mouthpiece of First New Mexico Bank" Irwin, John Arthur Smith (useless for the most part), Mayor "Mexico is my true country" Silva, Rick "I wish I knew how to communicate at the 8th grade level" McInturff, Scott "its a sin" Vinson, and so many wonderful (sarcasm here) other "leaders"!

No, the Dems (my former party) in this state, this country are now (with the election of a non-citizen militant president) are now the most corrupted group of people in the world.

Don't believe it?

Obama just indicated that he supports amnesty for 20 million illegals for one thing.

Obama is supporting the extremely corrupt group ACORN (disgusting group of individuals) by allowing them to "partner" with the 2010 Census so he can redraw the voting precincts and districts that will affect the national elections.

Time to impeach Obama.

More important to us here in Deming is the need to remove from office the parasites that are down at the City. It is time to for intelligent, professional, business experienced leaders to move Deming forward.

This post is going to stay in your face until you GET THE HE!! OUT OF THE SHELTER AND STOP USING THE SHELTER AS A POLITICAL TOOL!

ARROGANT. Sheriff COBAS, you are low to stoop to this level. You have no self-respect along with your hirelings.

"ANYTHING FOR THE VOTE?" That should be your next campaign slogan.

GET OUT OF THE MANAGEMENT, SPYING and VOTE PANDERING that you are doing inside the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER!

I never said it wasn't legal. I never said it wasn't American freedom.

I did say it isn't fair to the customer and that I feel it is not a good business practice to cheat the customers in that way. They have sources for what they sell other than what the regular customer can get just because of their business licensing. I don't feel it is an ethical thing to do - so no, I won't shop with them.

The person I spoke to had no reason to make this up. I was told I could call ahead and know when to come in also. WalMart is not allowed to place limits on purchases unless it is unlawful in the state they are doing business.

I just feel the people doing this are cheats and that is not a good business practice.

Besides, if they are cheating their customers in this way ---

What other ways are they cheating them?
