The City of Santa Cruz's Public Safety Task Force Member Steve Schlicht is quoted in an online thread as saying
he is "fine with junkies dying somewhere else. Outside the county is fine by me."

We have serious problems with someone who has been appointed to Mayor Hilary Bryant's Public Safety Task Force
writing in an online forum (facebook thread) that he is okay with "junkies dying."

How can we have objective and thoughtful consideration of these troubling issues if one is so blatantly biased and
completely and callously compassionless. Isn't this person trying to get to the bottom of core issues?

We see that none of the others on the "task force" has any background with drug addiction services or social services at all for that matter. If this is a gauge of the thinking of these people then those folks who're needing help as they face addiction and homelessness are in serious trouble. We see a complete lack of real interest in these problems and a lack of reality based solutions. What was the Mayor thinking appointing such a careless person to this "safety task force?"

We ask for a public statement and apology from both Steve Schlicht and from the mayor.

He says social media is his thing.

He also has shown about the same amount of sense as DBS, Buzz, RealityCheck SantaCruz, and Buzz have shown, hasn't he?

I think Schitlicker is the same breed as these topix trolls.

“I’d be fine with junkies dying somewhere else,” Steve Schlitt wrote in a discussion about drug addiction, after a body was found in the San Lorenzo River.“Outside the county is fine by me.”

Whether Schlitt was being serious, sarcastic or insouciant, he struck a nerve, and someone took his comment from the TBSC page, which is open to members only, and emailed it to the city council, suggesting that Schlitt might not be fit for the task force. Schlitt, who’s generally seen as one of Take Back Santa Cruz’s prevailing coolest heads, isn’t thrilled someone shared the information.

“This person went into a private Facebook group and sent it in a letter to city council,” says Schlitt.

I saw that...some Indybay.stupidfucker posted a photo of an iphone displaying an alleged post from an online discussion with zero context, reference or validation of its origin. So I posted a couple questions that didn't adhere to their dimwitted narrative...naturally it was quickly censored.

First, why on earth would someone on an online forum need to post a photo of a discussion from another current online forum? Why not simply provide a link, like they and everyone else always does? Second, where do they display any effort to engage with that post to challenge its content or author and/or confirm the intent of the post...like they and everyone always does?

Answer: Because that post didn't exist.

Anyway, I don't know if it was Burnt Adams or Slobbert Norse who fabricated that post/photo...either way, I'd like to thank whoever it was for the good laugh!

As usual: Paranoid morons + Way too much free time = Indybay
