Myself - I believe that's where one or more of your Internet Service Providers' server(s) may be located.

Also, congratulations on your new job at Kohls.

I just want to clear up a few misconceptions I found written on here. I was recently hired by Kohl's Capitola. First, Kohl's does not hire "only hispanic women." Having been part of the interview process at the job fair, I found that Kohl's consistently hired the most competent people for the job. This includes men and women of every race and age (17 and over.) You might consider it "going nowhere, part time work," but in this day and age, any work is good work, and Kohl's happens to offer benefits to all of their employees, including part time. I personally, am taking a large pay-cut, but I am happy to have even been given this opportunity. Kohl's absolutely drug-tests. I went through the process myself. Kohl's goes through a very thorough background check. You can be assured that the employees are legal. Although jobs aren't through the union, benefits are offered to ALL employees. A Kohl's Career is NOT "minimum wage, zero future, & no benefits or healthcare." If it was, I would not have accepted a job there, because I can not live off of minimum wage. After a certain time period, I will have health and dental, a 401k, FSA etc. While it is not necessarily my dream job, I am grateful for the job in this economy. I feel fortunate to have found this job when I did. While I would have laughed at you two years ago if you had told me I would be working retail now,now I am just relieved to have a job that has possibilities for my future. AND, because I know someone is going to ask, no, I do not commute from some far away place. I was born and raised in S.C. County as were both of my parents and a couple of my grandparents. Hope this clears up a few things.
I completely agree. Most of the people here are so misguided in their opinions that it sounds as if they have no idea what they are talking about. First of all Kohl's is one of the few companies that is even able to open as many new stores as they are in this economy. Which has a direct impact on the communities they are opening up in. While the assesment of Kohl's being a nowhere job is a little off it's not completely wrong. It can be a really great stepping stone for kids who are looking for their first job or for 22 year olds like myself who are doing a full school schedule and would like to have insurance which they do offer to part time employees. Come on people, I know opinions are like buttholes and we all have one but if you post something have the brain to at least make it an intelligent opinion.

I recently attended the hiring fair for kohls new store openings, and i was the only one chosen out of my group, I was told to fill out some extra forms like for references, background check, and drug test. I have a clean background and good references but havent heard from kohls since. I am wondering what is taking so long and if I would get the job anymore. Did anyone else go through this process?

Many of the stores are behind in the process of getting back to the people they are doing background checks on. From what I understand, our store is the only one that is actually ahead of the game. If they did keep you back, and had you fill out paperwork, you should either be getting a phone call telling you when your orientation is or a postcard with that information. Orientations are being held this week and part of next, so they should let you know SOON.:)

My daughter went through a group hiring process for Kohl's. I don't know how they made decisions to hire people, they hardly did any interviewing, very impersonal. She was the youngest out of the group, most applicants seemed very experienced and more mature in their 30's or 40's. Some were very upset at the superficial interview process. It will be very interesting to see who Kohl's actually hired and what it was based on. My daughter did not get the job, she is a college student who has a strong volunteering background and a loyal employment history and she lives so close was able to walk to work, but not much retail so I understand the store's decision. Not really entry level is it.

As I was one of the interviewers, I can tell you that all part-time positions were group interviews. It wasn't very personal, but we had to interview 1000 people in five days. We asked 5 questions and we asked the same questions of everyone. Personally, I think that is easier in many ways. You can think about the answer you want to give, and see what everyone else is saying. While I cannot tell you how the decisions were based, I can say that Kohl's has guidelines that we had to abide by in deciding the future of those 1000 people. It was certainly not based on age, however we did try to get the best people we could for the job. It actually is entry-level, as there are many people there with no retail experience (myself included, and I am one of their supervisors with 17 years of management experience.) The interview process wasn't fool-proof; there really wasn't ANY way to make it personal and that was unfortunate. I feel we may have turned away many people away that would have been great, but we had to do things the "Kohl's" way. Hopefully, your daughter will try again if we need more people.

It sure seems as if you and the other person on here are sweating the drug test. I don't see what the worry is unless you have reason to worry. :) Part-timers do not get drug tested. Of course, that only holds true for the store I am involved in. don't know if it is company policy for all stores or just decided by city.

You will be sitting in a room watching a video and filling out paperwork. You will also be learning more about the company. I suggest wearing something like nice pants and a nice shirt. They will probably inform you that until the store opens you can wear jeans and t-shirts because you will be setting up the store.

Its been 3 weeks since my interview for kohl's in downey, CA. Like I said before, I filled out the new hire paperwork and have not been contacted since for a a follow-up, or orientation. Should I be worried? What should I do, is it a way I could contact that store? Why could possibly be the issue?

I don't really know what to tell you. All I know is that my store manager has told us repeatedly that other stores are really far behind. I am not down in San Diego, so I really don't know what the situation is for that store. My only suggestion is that maybe you can go to where the store will be opening and see if you can find a manager or assistant manager to talk to. If you filled out the packet for the background check and reference check, then there shouldn't be any problem unless something didn't check out in your references or background. If that wasn't the issue, then like I said before, maybe they are really far behind or they haven't notified you about orientation yet. Go to the store and try to find out.

Thanks for your response, but if something happened with my references or background check,(which i'm positive that is not the case) shouldn't they notify me of a problem? Anyway, I probably would go down to the location and see if I could talk to a manager.

Is it too late for the "Progressives" to stop Kohls from opening? Surely there must be some flaw in the environmental impact report or traffic study? I am quite sure that I saw a monarch butterfly and a three-toed salamander in the planter outside the store one day. We cannot stand by and watch a new business open up with actual jobs in our community! If people get off welfare and unemployment, this might have a negative impact on county, city and state workers! This is an outrage!!
Perhaps you can get some kind of attorney to point out that Kohls employees policy is illegal. Bullying and questionable employment practices, firing employees that make more than the minimum to rake in more cash. This is a horrible company and I do not understand why their labor practices are not investigated

I was offered a job at Kohl's today. I remembered that I had a returned check on file for Kohl's. So I payed it today? Do you think the check will come up in the background check?
