Good point. So why don't you tell us your real name? Did it occur to you that staff, former staff, and volunteers might have a thing or two to say on this forum but also don't feel like openning themselves up to workplace hostility? I'm sure you would do the same if you spent time at the shelter. But, since you have a problem with it, I guess you better identify yourself.
Thanks for saying that!!!!

She won't identify herself. Take a look around on other topics. You'll see her comments on just about everything. She's an authority on just about everything, and will tell you so, according to the filibustering diatribes. Reminds me of Diane Chambers from "Cheers". The gal with too much education but relegated to working in the neighborhood bar with so many people who just not up to her intellectual standards.

In my efforts to volunteer at the SV location, I got dropped as well. Then when I finally got someone to bother with me (that was the attitude I got),-- after many, many phone calls asking why no one had ever followed up on my application -- I was treated as if my help wasn't wanted or needed. When I complained to the coordinator's manager, I was told that's just the way the person was. Oh. Well... the way I am is that if I am going to volunteer, I am going to be treated with respect. That's very little to ask when someone is offering to donate the most valuable thing she has --- free time. I ended up donating my time elsewhere.
See here? Obviously too much of a head case and the Shelter folks saw right through it. Of course they didn't want you around. Even in your own words, the princess attitude is quite visible. No, it would be better to decline your volunteer services now and avoid the migraine headaches that you surely would have given everyone, including the cats and dogs who would have begged to be euthanized rather than put up with the likes of you.

Crawl back into your hole! How dare you say that animals would rather be euthanized than put up with a volunteer. You need the blue juice.

Well, how do you know they wouldn't? did they tell you? And I was just talking about Coulrophobia the Clown-- the wannabe volunteer, not just any volunteer.(with all due respect to the ASA volunteers)

No, You have let your cynical imagination run away with you, and you obviously need to lash out (which is pitiful). What happened is that the person responsible for handling the applications didn't bother to follow up, and didn't bother to return my phone calls for months, and when she was finally run to ground, she blamed it all on a volunteer who (she claimed) had dropped the ball/lost the application/been a bad person or generally been the most available person to dump on. The attitude of the volunteer coordinator (rude, combative, evasive) at that time was so appalling that I did report it to a supervisor in the office, who essentially said "tell me something I don't know". So I decided -- I decided -- to donate my time elsewhere, because at AS I would have had to deal with that horrid, disrespectful attitude toward volunteers... AND -- THAT -- WAS -- THE -- ENTIRE -- POINT -- OF -- MY -- POST. Why anyone would want to work around people like you and the others who are posting bile here is beyond me. If you think you are doing the AS any good by doing this, think again.

Clear enough for ya, "head case"?

You seem very angry at everyone.
Do you have these same socilaization problems in all your dealings with other people?
People that are familiar with you call you a "princess". As in prima donna.
I sense they allude to your hubris.
That you stoop to such childish taunts in an adult conversation reveals your immaturity than your ego.
I also understand why it would only take someone a few minutes to know that they wouldn't enjoy your company.
You are crude and abrasive and demonstrate a mean personality.
I think the animals got lucky when you were turned down as a volunteer.

You keep talking about the people you "met" at the shelter. So you were there -- what -- once? You speak in extremes, "M" -- using words like "crazy" and "zealot" against people. That devalues your comments and makes one suspect that you are posting more to support a specific person in this inappropriate bitchfest rather than to make a plea for the SC AS in general.
All I want to see is an organization that gets the focus back on quality animal care. Animal Services has some house cleaning to do, but not the euthanasia kind. If employees and/or volunteers are getting on here and fighting behind the weak disguise of fake names, then the AS may be a "hostile workplace". At the very least, you obviously have some deeply unhappy people lurking there. Please keep them away from the animals. There exists the possibility of redirected aggression being inflicted on innocent creatures, either directly or indirectly.
The weak disquise of fake names? And you?

A "hostile workplace"? The deeply unhappy people lurking are most likely those that brought baggage with them when they came on board.

Yes, weak disguise because many who have posted here seem to recognize co-workers or co-volunteers. You should all have the intelligence to work it out AT WORK.

And the nasty "personal baggage" that all of you unhappy folks have so readily exhibited here (trashing AS employees and volunteers alike, and some by name) is a huge warning to anyone who has wondered whether they might want out help out over there. Why would anyone want to step into such an ugly situation? You have all done AS a great disservice with this stupid catfight.

[if animals are getting killed for no reason, praise these people for blewing the whistle on the abusive people at the shelter. By the way there is no vet on staff there, just paid employees that think they know better.
