And then we pay for the Helo ride (for the baby)...That lady would have been killed had she been driving anything lesser than a Mercedes SUV. All those injury's and barely any intrusion into the passenger compartment.

Really? Take a closer look at the dashboard and the way it is pushed into the driverseat area. That is considerable passenger space intrusion.

CAPITOLA Garbage truck collides with SUV A Greenwaste garbage

Why not call the garbage company and simply ask who was in charge of driving that route on that day, that time?
OR ask which garbage truck shows damages, who was the driver?

What I see is a drivers side air bag that failed to deploy despite considerable damage to the front bumper area.

IT wasn't a hit and run. The garbage truck was towed away by police. The article doesn't say that they don't know who did it. The article just reported that the accident happened.

The baby, I can understand. The young teenies and college students with cells clamped to their ears who step RIGHT OFF THE CURB in front of a hybrid without looking either way -- it's Darwin time, baybee. I don't care if the car makes no noise.

If your parents spent hundreds of thousands to raise you and you still didn't learn to look both ways before crossing the streeet -- maybe it's a GOOD THING that you won't live to bear or father children!

airbags only deploy if the car suddenly decelerates.

that picture looks like a Gelandewagen, which is a rather old design more akin to a jeep than other Mercedes like the M class SUVs.

Looks to me like that Mercedes crumpled like an aluminum can. I wish everyone injured in this news round-up a speedy and complete recovery. I hope the construction worker did not lose his hand.

The point of impact was the cowl area. If this had been a prius the damage would have extended to the passenger area. This car gave its life for its owner.
