Ha, I know Edgar. Went to Sanat Cruz High school with him. Seems he grew up to be a loser like a lot of the people I went to school with.

Finally! I had a good friend who was trying to stay clean and sober...he ended up at this house and it was just miserable for him. Every time I dropped him off there were all these guys hanging out that did NOT look like recovery-newcomers but more like the guys hanging out on "the yard".
There are LOTS of great sober living houses in this area...try Sobriety Works if you are serious about getting and staying clean. The Sunnyside House is a complete joke!

This is just SO sad. It is VERY hard to stay clean and sober and nearly impossible if you are in an SLE like this one. It IS all to common in the SLE biz 'cuz they are usually managed by recovering addicts who don't have enough clean time under their belts, but there are alot of good ones out there, too. If you are trying to stay clean and you are living in a house like this, GET OUT!!! talk to your sponsor and/or someone in your home group. I'm sure you can at least find a couch to stay on until you can get into a better SLE. Also talk to the police. It isn't ratting --- it's saving your, and others, life!

this house has always been a problem -lots of drug dealing, noise, loud cars and hanging out on the street. The neighbors have been complaining for years. All the houses are crammed together on this street, so everyone sees and hears everything except those living in the halfway house who think no one knows what their doing. Cars coming and going late at night - everyone can hear'm. This house has been an on going problem and someone is not taking responsibility.

This article is extremely vague. Was this house in fact supposed to be a certified "Sober Living Environment" or was this a Sober Living manager having his fellow addicts over to his own residence?
"It wasn't immediately clear the Seabright House was privately owned or state-run, or if the facility was one of the approved drug treatment programs utilized by the local court system."
Sounds about right for this town, "sober" living manager with multiple prior drug convictions. Dont our addicts who are trying to seek help deserve someone who has proven they have been away from using for a long period of time? Where's the accountability, who hired this looser?

Keep busting these idiots and send a message that Santa Cruz will not tolerate these kinds of people. Santa Cruz was a great place to grow up, but now has become a seedy little town.

What a shame :(:( Being in the recovery community and being very familiar with SLE(Sober Living Environments) This type of behavior is only common in those environments where structure , and accountability are at a minimum. I only hope that the community wont judge all SLE's to be the same as this particular one . Recovery is a process and SLE's are just a small stepping stone in that process. Santa Cruz has a huge recovery community in which the majority of those in recovery are serious and committed to achieving and maintaining a healthy sober and drug free lifestyle .

Great job. Put a convicted narco felon in charge of a sober living home and then provide obviously no oversight. Yet another embarrassment to our community of liberal drug lovers.
