Bum magnet!
Oh, but BJ and Norse will tell you that they were last housed in Santa Cruz and therefore, there is NO magnet affect.

Who do you believe? A stupid troll from topix that copy/pastes articles from Indybay to archive on Topix and then calls everyone a troll and a criminal stalker. Or, a County Judge?

One reads biased and false information and thinks it's "reality" and can't even back up their erroneous claims with factual evidence and the other is a person that is paid to judge the criminal acts of those brought to her courtroom everyday.

It's like listening to a nurses assistant tell you about the pathology of a family members disease, and then the doctor comes in and shows how inept the failure of an assistant is in their understanding of how the disease process works.

Why are you lying about this, BECKY?

As was previously brought to your attention with actual data and statistics, supported with links to survey sources, your comment that "as county seat Santa Cruz would naturally have a higher homeless rate" is....untrue. The county seats of all counties surrounding Santa Cruz experience a lower homeless rate than Santa Cruz. In fact, all the counties surrounding Santa Cruz have a lower homeless rate than Santa Cruz County. And the number of people that came to Santa Cruz County from another county or state, after becoming homeless, is higher than all the counties surrounding Santa Cruz. They are coming here for a reason. And that reason is the magnet. Maybe it's the nice weather. Maybe it's the lax drug attitude. Maybe it's the services. Maybe it's all those reasons plus something else. But there is a reason people are targeting a county up against the sea with mountains surrounding it and meager access by public transportation or highways. They are making an effort to come here.

This has all been previously brought to your attention. Links were supplied to back the information up. So for you to be repeating your old schtick means that you are willfully repeating something that is not true. So you are lying, BECKY.

I can't wait to see the new census numbers, which are late in being released. Maybe the percentage of homeless from another county or state has increased. At 38% it's already high, Rising any further starts putting the "Most homeless are from here!!" argument in jeopardy.

An important point.

The city of Santa Cruz, the county seat, has a higher homeless rate than the county. The surrounding counties have a higher homeless rate than their county seat.; That's the part that makes BECKY's point untrue.

Sorry, it's been awhile.

But John Colby lies about everything!

Andkerps forgetting that he's getting evicted for being a violent and dangerous stalker and harasser--even of a disabled elderly woman.

All the information is in a cry for help from an obscure, out-of-area website---including a copy of your eviction letter.

The link no longer gets to Colby's embarrassing (for him) posts.

John Colby posted and then subsequently had the posts deleted from the North Bay Rising web site. To see these posts:

Google search "northbayuprising" and "john colby" in the Google search block. If you click on Colby's former posts, the result will show up as not found. You CAN, however, recall the cached version of the post. You'll find the URL for the deleted posts listed as the second line (in GREEN) in the search results. Click on the upside down triangle figure at the end of the URL and click on "cached" to recall the cached version of Colby's posts.

Surprise of surprises!!

BJ's crackpot claim is proven to be wrong.

But she keeps on Braying that it's not.

Maybe she'll dredge up some former Garbage that SHE wrote, and offer it as "proof" that she's right.

The new restrictions on street venders is a step in the righ t direction.

Homeless people should be given three choices: seek help at the homeless shelter, go to jail, or leave Santa Cruz.

Then what would SC do without its freeloading drifters with no skills but lots of dependence on social programs and drugs?

Robert Norse has pressured Task Force staff to post the audio of these meetings online so the public can hear what these experts have to say.

They wouldn't have done so if Norse had not kept up his requests.

Blah blah blah.

Why doesn't he just come to the meetings like other curious and interested members of the public? Or he could just download the minutes from the city website.

No, he'd rather be a self promoting jackass who uses you as his mouthpiece on occasion.

How has this action helped the homeless? It hasn't. But it brings him attention now that you've brought it up.

You want to see the "bum magnet effect"? Go to a HUFF rally. Go to Forever 21 this Sunday and watch the clowns on parade and have a good laugh at their reality check.

The Original Buzz writes: I've worked with dozens of homeless youth who candidly said they came here because of Santa Cruz's wealth of benefits--food, lenient legal system/few hassles, freebies, weather.
BECKY: The legal system is not hassle-free or lenient. Poor or homeless people simply don't have the resources to move long distances & won't do so just to get a free sandwich or a mat on a floor of a church. The vast majority of homeless people are found within 40 miles of the last place they had housing. The majority of OUR homeless last had housing in Santa Cruz County. Most cities in the USA today are experiencing between 1% and 3% of their population are experiencing homelessness. We are well within that limit.
A few anectdotal stories don't outweigh the bulk of the evidence: there is no homeless "magnet" in Santa Cruz compared to other County Seats.
You need to get your story straight with Robert. I'm listening to his 9/15 show and he's explaining that Santa Cruz has more homeless because of travellers. Not sure if that explains SC having 10x the homeless of Palo Alto.

That's not what your hero Steve Schlict said....

"Tonight’s task force meeting was easily one the best and liveliest meetings we’ve had to date. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a very large public turnout to see it."
