Move along folks nothing to see here, it's just a jobless recovery after all the recessions over.

After 4 years of pelosi and reid, compounded with 2 years of obama and all the countries problems are solved, just wait till these poor souls find out how long the unemployment lines are

Put a halt on the job killing AB 32. Vote yes on Prop 23 or there will be more layoffs in the construction industry.

I retired from Granite a year ago (out of state)after almost 19 years. Friends I worked with for many years are now jobless. I realy think some trimming should have been made at the top also.
But it all boils down to the tough time the Obama goverment as sent our country spinning into. Where did the money go???? Where is the help now?

Strange I had a construction project,in Santa Cruz.I called around ten contractors for bids.only three responded, two of those never showed up,the one that did show up after many calls, was a day late smelled like booze and never sent me the bid.How hard is it to get a "licensed " contractor in Santa Cruz?

More bad economic news. I'm going to have to stop reading the newspaper lest I become full of despair.

What I don't understand is how the Democrats continue to refuse to see the connections between their policies and economic climate. It's not Bush's fault. It's not because of the war in Afghanistan.

It's the uncertainty over a lack of a serious plan. Nothing the D's have done so far has helped employment - in fact, their policies have had the opposite effect.

That hope and change is not working out very well.

Vote as conservitive, no new taxes, smallest government possible, as you can.

You can have lots of government or you can have lots of jobs but you can't have both.

Jeez! I thought the "recession" was over! Oh! It's not a recession it's a depression and folks it's deepening. Bush started it and the obamunist has made it INFINITELY worse by CONTINUING failed economic policies. But hey-HE INTENDS IT THAT WAY!Nov.is our last chance to stop our little Mussolini from taking over EVERYTHING in the name of "crisis"!

Wow what a cliff hanger, let me guess you just hate contractors and need to work that story line into every conversation.
I bet you went straight down to River street and hired a dozen illegals, how did the job turn out?

That audio garbage will fix everything. Before 8:00 AM is quiet time here, and before I figured out that noise was coming from my computer- I could not hear my TV so I turned the TV up.

I must have awakened 2 neighbours on this floor and 3 surrounding apartments upstairs.

From what I previously read, only 1 construction company is building in Santa Cruz. If I get kicked out of here for being too noisy and inconsiderate; I hope Granite works out problems so I will have a new place to hang my hat.

That racket is not appreciated.

Yes, since the economy tanked so bad that it's taking longer than we'd like to recover, let's go back to conservative policies and see if we can crash and burn the economy completely.

I wonder if Bush stays up late at night worrying about people still getting laid-off.

this is what happened because of conservative-lauded fiscal policy. as soon as the media spotlight revealed this, you get all of these crazies (faux 'news' watchers, tee partay) trying to distract us from the truth. the scam goes like this: the top earners in the country would 'trickle down' money and keep jobs here if we gave them massive tax cuts (Bush & cronies). Overseas, they took that money and our jobs/industry, and they still are. How come no-one is defending Bush's $ policy now? Oh, the obstructionist party leaders told them take it 'cause that's the only deal they'll get. It's hard to laugh at people who voted repuglickin' last election and now they are strapped for cash, mortgage problems, etc. I aint laughing, but now they are are goin' all 'independent', etc becuse of the programmed hatred for 'liberals' disallowing them to vote democrat. some knuckleheads are so reactionary they go teabagger and reveal their fascist/racist sides.(Tea party = fascist, even though they use doubletalk to accuse others of it).
Also, i love it when 'conservative' racists go and pick up day workers at ProBuild on river, and in front of Home Depot on 41st. "But they're taking our JOBS!!" they say in public. You're GIVING them away, cretins!!!.

Really? I know several contractors, including one very close to me, who would gladly show up sober and give you a timely bid.

We backed your play because you had the whole war thing that we all hated and all you guys did was double down on afghanistan, we still have 2 wars no jobs all of the Bush policies are still in place and you standing in the corner with your dunce cap crowing about bush and fox news, dude your NUTS!!!!!!

California economy is broken...RIGHT NOW!!

These Granite lay-offs merely continue the trend the Dimocrats have created here...what's the unemployment rate HERE...we owe the Gov't employee pensions $500 Billion, but they negotiate give backs of only $100 Billion over the next decade.

Not sufficient!! We STILL need an initiative to place ALL Gov't employees on 401K's, teachers included!! Only then will OUR PUBLIC SERVANTS become interested in a booming economy!!!!

Curiously, Bill Clinton could not fill an auditorium in Michigan, an area impacted by Lib economic disaster far longer than California... guess the Libs are gonna have to make it worse HERE before the voters hold them accountable.

At last count you had 4 clueless, 3 nuts & 3 disagree...for telling it like it IS!!!

Lib Dimocrats pop up from their Ostrich posture to mark negatives at will, but a cogent response...sacre bleu, instead let's call Meg a name so we can get the NOW endorsement for Moonbeam!

That hope and change thang is not working out AT ALL!
