Roaring Camp Christmas Train was great!

I just took my family on the Roaring Camp Railroad Christmas train. I didn't know exactly what to expect but was amazed at how cool it was. For one thing it's a real train, the whole thing covered in christmas lights. The train leaves from the Santa Cruz boardwalk which is pretty convenient. They've got a full crew of live performers onboard, from musicians to Mr. & Mrs. Claus who get on after the train heads up the route a little way. At every crossing we went through, the cars stopped would flash their lights or wave at us as we went by. Normally waiting for a train is no fun but seeing a moving display of thousands of christmas lights on the santa express must put people in a good mood.

Free hot steaming cider was a nice touch. The kids loved it and my six year old almost believes in Santa again.:-)

Certainly with the little kids we had a more G-rated experience than a co-worker last year with his "wet santa" escapade ( )

Anyway -- definitely recommended if you have little ones. Buy your tickets in advance.
