Um I thought a troll had to be homeless according to deffinition this gut wa arrested in an apartment. So if they are arrested they are trolls. In my opinion you are the troll. You sit behind a psuedonym and pass judgement on anyone you don't know. As I have said thousands of times the troll busters were cowards, who went to prison and cried because they did not think it was fair that they had to go to jail for almost killing someone. And you know what they did not get near enough time. Where were those tough on crime DA's and Judges that day. You are less then scum and should be banned from these blogs until you are willing to reveal your real name. I am proud to be a SC Troll even if I have received a post graduate degree and am a homeowner

Well, no mention of "homeless" or "transient" in the Sentinel story.
That most likely means it originated at one of the favorite places in Santa Cruz where the hyper-competitive and hyper-agressive sociopaths hang out... a bar.
Simple solution:
Any drinking establishment in Santa Cruz where ANY violent incident occurs should IMMEDIATELY have their business license revoked and the ABC notified of that action by the city.
That might negatively affect enrollment at Uncle Charlie's Summer Camp after all the bars go out of business... but what the heck, then all that affordable housing that the University leases to bail the city out for their poor urban planning (like the ticky tacky by the old Ice Plant)would be available to the ordinary minimum wage workers of Santa Cruz.
That is a really dumb solution. I hope you are kidding. Business owners are not responsible for the criminal acts of their patrons. We live in a free society. Our society decided that we are free to imbibe in alcoholic drinks. If some fool (and there is no indication that this guy was even drunk) decides to harm someone it is irresponsible to hold anyone accountable except for the criminal. That's the way America works. We are responsible for our own actions and no one elses. Why not start up the Womens Temperance Moement again, if you are serious. They pooped all over our freedom before and made (continue to make) organized crime very wealthy.
Foolish.

Just another reason to avoid Downtown altogether, that's why I stay posted in the Midtown. We have community that's now sorely lacking in Downtown. Remember that kid that got knifed at the Red Room a couple weeks back? There's been a steady rise in violence lately and I'm not sure what the hell is going on. It's time for people to stand up and take a stand to the this BS, what the eff is wrong with people? They can't go out with friends drinking and have a good time without some kind of violence popping off. Pretty sad statement on our culture if you ask me, enough of this violence already.

You are narrow minded. It is not the problem of the businesses. Some have been there longer than you have been here. You must be an anti-drinker and never owned a business.

This issue is larger than just this one incident. This is the ramification of not enforcing the law on a daily basis. Every punk around knows you can go to the mall and break any law you want and nothing will happen. Therefore, this is where many of the punks, i.e. law breakers hang out. And we are suppose to be surprised when some jerk gets into a fight and stabs someone. Why would that shock anyone? Have you seen the people down on the mall? We could eliminate these types of problems if the laws were enforced every day. The police should make it very uncomfortable for these guys to be down there. If that were the case they would go back to where they came from. Another fear is we will see some sort of vigilantism like we did back in the 80's with the troll busters.

Why doesn't everyone grow up. It seems that something happens downtown & everyone wants to make stupid a** comments about people you don't even know or you don't even know what went on. Why don't you all get the facts instead of assuming (a** out of you & me) get real people. This comment thing really is out of hand. RETARDS

I hate to burst your buble, but there was a guy stabed a month or so ago that was on a bike in mid county. The offender was a18yr old that didn't even no the guy he stabbed! Also, the kid from Arizona got stabbed to death on 26th ave beach.

If we're so responsible for our action why do not understand that we've used 75% of the worlds resources, are the worst polluting counrty, and we arm people in all parts of the world so that our companies can get wealthy.

Killwhity your an idiot! Somehow you thought that stating that you pass around your woman instead of fighting over them would make you look good. You just proved all of those racists out there right. Does it feel good to advertise your unintelligence and disrespect for women? What would your mother, grandmother or sisters say about your lame excuse for a comment? Idiot!

Let's not forget about the guy a few months back that was shot in Live Oak while riding his bike and died. Unfortunately It's everywhere but as usual with the media outlets we have today things are highly publicized.

Hey, no problem...it was just a stabbing. It happens here all of the time with little more than a slap on the wrist. Thanks to the message the judge just sent out to all of the thugs; go ahead and stab someone, it's no big deal. I bet his attorney/public defender gets him off. He must have had a difficult childhood, and he was probably just mad, gee whiz.

Thats a good point. 1 in 50 stabbings in santa cruz is done by a white guy (although never does it say he was white) I can also guarantee you the fellow who followed the suspect and alerted authorities to his whereabouts was not Mexican or Latino. I don't even have to be told, I just know.

Ummm, remember that girl that was raped at the Harbor?, remember that kid shot to death near 17th Ave?, remember that shooting in the Capitola Mall parking lot?, remember that guy who was chased across commuter traffic while being shot at right in your beloved "midtown". Its true downtown has issues, but "midtown" is just as bad if not worse as far as crime goes.... just less homeless people.

They guy didn't get stabbed on his bike, he was shot. And that was the Live Oak area, the other was on the East Side. Sounds like you need to take another look at the map and get your facts straight kid. None of this happened in Midtown.
