D.A. Bob Lee failed to disqualify Judge Paul Burdick for bias in a motion filed this last spring in the case of the Santa Cruz Eleven.[See "Assistant D.A. Files Motion to Recuse Judge Burdick--Again" at http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2014/03/04/1... & "A Week Later The Sentinel Does Drive-By Coverage of the Santa Cruz Eleven" at http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2014/06/10/1... & "Santa Cruz Eleven Trial Postponed Indefinitely" at http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2014/03/01/1... . defense lawyers for the Final Four of SC-11 have responded with a motion to disqualify Bob Lee. Hopefully this will avert a felony trial that will cost taxpayers $100,000 or more and write an end to a political prosecution that has cooked up felony charges against activist reporters and local leftists.

Why does DA Bob Lee's stand in, County Counsel Shienbaum, say that neither he nor Lee "can find any documents related to a loan from Wells Fargo to Lee for his 2010 campaign?"
Why didn't they try a google search? http://t.co/wHFIg4l69h

ummm, because that isn't a loan, it's a donation to his campaign.

oh i take that back, there it is stated as a loan but here's information pertaining to what that means:
"A loan is a permissible way for a campaign to receive funds. There is no limit on the amount of money that can be loaned to the campaign. However, unless the loan is executed properly and paid off in a timely manner, the loan will be converted into a contribution. "
it's not a loan in the terms that you think of when you hear the word "loan"

and, you think that disqualifies a District Attorney's office from prosecuting people that supposedly vandalized and illegally trespassed on private property owned by wells fargo?

There is nothing improper about a candidate taking out a loan for his/her campaign. What MAY be improper is recieving a $34,000 loan INTEREST FREE. That could constitute special favors by Wells Fargo in addition of allowed campaign contributions, possibly in exchange for future service. That is the appearance of impropriety, and was the basis of the motion.

However, with Wells Fargo unable to find ANY records, it looks like Bob is left holding the bag, this one containing what LOOKS to be a donation of $32,000 (outstanding balance of $2000) which constitutes fraud and would not only disqualify Lee from holding public office, but my be chargeable. No wonder he is "sick."

Hi Donny! Longtime, no see. John Colby is my friend. I am not his "sock puppet" nor is he mine.
Is it called racketeering for a politician to take donations from the wealthiest corporation in the world and then turn around and prosecute people who are protesting against same corporations portraying it as the "victim?"

BJ!!!! You've always said that you post using your registered login on Topix, so I had to ask.

All politicians take donations. That is not illegal. Bob Lee and the DA's Office are doing their job prosecuting individuals who have "allegedly" broken the law.

BTW, you do a much better job of arguing a pro-Israel stance than you ever did making arguments on Topix.

BJ, you still think WF makes money by making payments on a building leased by an acquisition. Once you figure that out, you can delve into candidates making loans to their campaigns. It's SOP.
