I was responsible for a catering event for my department at the university on Nov. 5 2011. I chose to cater with Cafe Palomar (on E. Cliff NOT Pacific -no relation) and worked with them on an appropriate menu for an event of 25 people. When I went to pick up the order from them on the day of the party I realized I was overcharged for the amount of food that they provided and also that they did not give me the type of receipt I had asked for in order to be reimbursed (itemized on a letter head). After the event I spoke with the manager. She agreed that I was overcharged yet had a difficult time understanding what I needed with regard to an invoice. I went back and forth with them for a month over this and finally, when the manager frustratedly told me she couldn't help me and I would need to wait until someone else could, I told her it had been a month and I would come and help her draft an invoice. When I showed up at the restaurant, she had found a letterhead, photocopied the original receipt on that, and offered a gift certificate, but had still misunderstood what I needed with regard to an invoice, so I asked her to put me on the phone with the owner or someone that had experience with invoicing. She put me on the phone with Mike B (account manager) and as I tried to detail the events he cut me off and said that I needed to wait for a few hours while he sorted out the invoice, which was fine. He then lectured me on my impertinence and when I went to speak again, explaining the overall experience including the overcharge, he told me to "shut up" and let him speak. I repeated what he said (i.e., "shut up") and told him that I just wanted to make sure I heard him correctly, he went to speak again and I repeatedly asked him if he had told me to "shut up" which is when he called me a "b***." He ultimately showed up with an invoice, but when I protested the gift certificate they gave me for the overcharge, explaining that I refused to patron an establishment that treats its customers in that manner and freely uses derogations in such a way, I was told to speak to the owner. The owner refused to speak to me and I sent the invoice in for billing. When the manager of my department spoke to Mike, Mike told her that I was "ragging on" him and I would have had better results if I had not done so. Ultimately I am stuck paying $50 to a restaurant that reimbursed me with a gift certificate and which called me a "bitch." Any advice on ways to protest an establishment that condones this kind of behavior from their senior management.- Sincerely "ragging b***"

does. don't it??? the exchange was so tragic, i wouldn't be surprised if they got loaded and started listening to bad Oasis tracks googling ex's from high school. i'd probably go back (being a ragging b**** and all) if the food was half way decent, but the lettuce was wilted and soggy, and the limes were brown around the edges, the meat look OK (I don't eat it), but given the rest of the service/food who the hell knows what it was or when it died?

Even in your "pure as the driven snow" biased version, I can easily understand why someone would become annoyed at your insistence for special protocol. Demanding an itemized invoice on formal company letterhead from a restaurant purchase is being unrealistic. The name of the restaurant and the items and prices of your purchase are printed on the receipt they gave you. That receipt is how restaurant expense reports have been filed in the real world forever!

And do you seriously want us to believe that you were speaking respectfully to this manager when he just, out of the blue, told you to shut up? Really?

Regardless of how simple you believe your request was, you were still incessantly demanding special treatment. No wonder they grew impatient with you.

Who told you I was white, Cafe Palomar management? There are two Palomars. The one on Pacific is delicious (it's their sister store, but I don't judge people by their family) the one I'm speaking of is a sh**hole (E. Cliff).

"Even in your "pure as the driven snow" biased version, I can easily understand why someone would become annoyed at your insistence for special protocol. "

Getting a formal invoice for a CATERING event that has to go through multiple lines of process is not "special protocol," PRINCESS. But given your choice of nom de plumes, I understand the filter through which you see the world.

ps to the Palomar folks commenting on here, the more you do so the higher up in Google searches it goes.

You took the time to look at google for this?!? Wow...you're more self-absorbed than I thought!

If your university department ('nuff said) is demanding more than the rest of the grown-up world, every CPA in the country, the CA state franchise tax board and the IRS requires for an expense report, then your department is being an unrealistic elitist. And you were being an over-demanding, ragging bitch....your loss is pure karma. Sorry, you're not getting much sympathy here in the real world, take it like a man.

Oh...and by the way, I used "princess" to describe your behavior...since you're clearly much too fragile to be called a bitch.

Also, other races don't have much respect for white women? All of them? Really???? No one told me this? Does everyone know this and they just don't tell us? This must be the biggest cover up in history! Thanks for breaking the story, conspicuously familiar with the establishment and my race person. It's like you are psychic or have some eery first hand knowledge of the situation. Also as a ragging, b***, pig, angry white woman, I would appreciate if the rest of us could stay away from unnecessary jabs at race, ethnicity, gender etc as it has little to do with the general shadiness of this establishment. I would prefer if we can put the onus of responsibility squarely where it belongs: on an unprofessional, unethical, substandard, insipid restaurant manager and owner. I'd prefer to leave the blame squarely on them not what they represent. Also, as I should note, there were two very lovely workers trying to diffuse the situation who I feel very sorry for and am embarrassed on behalf of. It's not their fault they work for such creeps....wait whats that chinging* sound...oh it's 2 more notches up the google search alert. Maybe if I link it to my ebay, trip advisor, yelp, sentinel post about this place we can really get somewhere. The ladies at the women's groups I emailed seem to think so.

Did the meat-cleaver weilding manhaters that infest UCSC teach you under the guise of Womyn's studies, that anytime you don't get what you want, it must be Misogyny?

So you signed up for this using the Princess login strictly for this post? Not suspect at all, genius. Especially when you are using language thrown out during the exchange, although over-demanding is not a word, dear. Demanding implies excessive, I believe you mean "hostile" "utterly implacable" "impossible" there's a series of ways to articulate what I think you mean. Try it again. What's that? Another ding up the google search terms. How many think we can get this to be the first google search term?

p.s. I'm an entitled, sorry "over-demanding" b*** what'd you expect?

Without the identity of VictimŽ, you'd have no identity at all.*YAWN* What a tired, over-played white liberal tactic for not being able to cope in the real world that has become.

Time to pull up your big-girl pants and start doing what can instead of hiding being the illusions of what you think you're not being allowed to do.

Your faux victim story failed to get you the coveted sympathy and retaliation you so desperately sought. Time to move on....and grow up.
