It is so sad to read about this kind of thing happening. I guess mom was just a little too late to try & put the family back together. Better late than never, some say, this was late & never.

The foster family who took in Aubrey and Stewart are my cousins - we collected clothes, toys, food, etc for them all when their house caught fire. That in itself was a terrible thing to have to endure. My heart breaks for these two, and all involved. It was bad enough to lose their mom dears, you are SO loved. Your family is here for you NO MATTER WHAT. God bless you and your mama.

that is funny erin i never remeber meeting you. their aunt is also trying to help since the family that is watching them, who cannot by law be a foster family has told my family not to contact the children, and it is my choice not to start trouble. It is unfortunate that the family wo watches them spends a lot otime bad talking the children's bio ffather. but this not about me it is about the kids and they know to call me, but they won't so their aunt will step in. we can only hope that this man learns to braid before the grey goose gives him a ride

I am Deanna Dudley Aunt. My hu8sband David and her father Earl are devastated by Dina's death. We can not make sense of this killing and why Richard would have done this seeing he has no history. We are happy to know there is a fund to help her children. We appreciate all you can do for them in their time of need. We all need prayers so if you are in to that, please pray for us. Thank you

The children's granfather and Me and their Uncloe have told those kids they always have a home with us. We are leaving that decision up to them.Their father Jaff is a good man but he needs to let his children decide who they want to be with. I will be around to see that that is done. I promised their mom a long time ago, I would look out for them.

I am Richard's ex-wife. I just found out about this yesterday and am very saddened that this happened. My heart goes out to the kids, Aubrey and Stewart, I am so sorry about this loss for you. Your mom was a very sweet woman.
The story says that there was no past record of domestic violence but that is not true. To my knowledge Richard had an arrest in South Dakota because of a domestic assault on a girlfriend there. Also, he was violent to me during our relationship.

The story of Richard having no previous background of violence is just plain false.

I grew up in California, went to church with Dina (as she was known by us then) in 1986 to 1989 when I moved to Texas.

I visited some friends in 1996 and ran into her. She had just broken up with Richard at the time and I put her up in a hotel room with little (at the time)Stewart and Aubrey for a couple of days until she was able to find a place to stay.

She told me then that the reason she had left was because of the drinking and his aggressive, violent behaviors towards her when he did. I saw the bruises.

I was shocked when I found out she had been murdered and stunned beyond belief when I saw the photos of her killer.

My heart goes out to her children for their sudden and tremendous loss.

I was sadden to read the comment from Scott Blue. Dina had told me about Scott and talked very fondly of him. I knew of him as a decent and sweet young man. I wished Dina would have stayed with Scott but I am glad to know of Richard's past history. Guess he fooled everyone. I wish Dina would have thought about the past with him. I have heard she was trying to get her life back in order to get her kids back with out Richard in their life. What a waste of life. I am grieving my niece's death so hard. I am up this morning because I can not sleep thinking of all I have learned the past few days. Thank you once again Scott and the lady who was Richard's ex- wife for letting us know the things we did not know.

It is sad to read that Rich had been abusive to Dina in the past. I did not know that there had been any other relationship other than friendship between them in the past. I am wondering about the accuracy of the information that Blue posted though, because Rich and I were together and living in another state besides California in 1996.
I am not saying that what you said may not be true, but maybe it was a different year?

My deepest sympathy for Dina's family as you mourn her loss.

Looking back, you are probably correct on the year. I traveled in and out of the U.S. a lot in those days and sometimes my dates run together.

Although I am not completely sure of the year, I am completely confident of the persons involved. Having spent two days housing Dina and her kids, I heard a lot of stories and saw pictures.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. This just confirms that alot of what Rich told me was lies lies lies. It hasn't changed either, I found out through these articles that the very reality around his life in the last year had all been made up to sound better than it was. Unfortunately he lives in a fabricated reality of his own.

My sympathy goes out to Dina's family and friends.

When will Richard Chavez be sentenced for the brutal ending of Aubrey and Stewart's Mother's life?

My heart and thoughts are with the family.

Sorry for the Children,

During Thursday's brief court appearance, Chavez entered his plea [of Not Guilty]and the preliminary hearing - at which time a judge will decide if there's enough evidence to go to trial, was set for July 19, according to assistant district attorney David Sherman.

I am a close family friend. This beautiful woman took in me and my sisters when we came to California to met our mom. I also kinda knew the jerk (think less of him actually). I can't believe what he did. I don't know if anti.e noticed. But it was only two days after be sons bday. To think he has to remember all this every year.
I love her and them kids. Sean and Laura for trying their best.
