People have a right to believe what they believe. The First Amendment protects this activity not only out of respect for personal dignity, but also because society may need to evolve over time, and evolution requires a citizenry who can think, speak and organize freely. Civil rights, anti-war, women’s suffrage, the 40 hour work week, states’ rights, the environmental movement, gun ownership, medical self-determination, gay rights, abortion, the Tea Party, anti-commercialism—whatever the cause, and regardless of whether you agree with it, a fundamental precept of freedom is the right to advocate for it, and possibly to win the policy debate and have those views become mainstream. The Constitution purposefully limits the power of entrenched interests, whether the government or the ideological majority, to squelch non-violent aspects of the process of social and political change.

Those potheads at ucsc try to railroad a arab guy who was mad about some bombing and said mongrel etc. about jewish people and say it was anti-semitism-someone called my a aryan troll once,--is that anti-semitic?? Just jewish people get this right of anti-semitism for negative comments? That is gross infringement on the 1st amendment and would not be in the best interests of jewish people---that would mean destroyed lives over racial favoritism--that means conflicts. District 9 court san fran already ruled calling someone a primate reference is anti-semitic already---If I can't mention drug sales and criminal racketeering, felonies about asian latino hasidism etc.---then I'm throwing down-that means my free speech rights are gone.

Razor Ray takes Norse to task in the post "Full Text of Speech to City Council on 12-3" on IndyCrap. I usually find Razor Ray to be like all the other idiots on IndyCrap, but he makes sense in his slam at Norse.

I KNOW you don't give a fuck Robert but calling the SCPD "Gunmen" like it's some sort of fucking joke WILL be a joke to the SCPD who know that's not true and to everyone else as well. But what happens next is TBSC and EVERY FUCKING CITIZEN OF SANTA CRUZ is going to say to themselves (and everyone they know) "This is what those homeless people think about our fine police department?" leading to MORE DISENFRANCHISEMENT AND ISOLATION of the people you claim to be SO FUCKING CONCERNED WITH.

Do work FOR Take Back Santa Cruz or are you just too stupid, too ignorant, or too narcissistic and self-involved in your own little NOT HOMELESS world (my choice) to notice.

The next time some jock kid of a TBSC member jumps a homeless person because "they hate out cops", you're to blame Robert.

You need to be shunned and isolated as a hazard to the homeless... My friends.

Your reply has already been deleted, but Leigh's post still stands for now- remind Brent of this next time he babbles that only inappropriate comments are deleted, which can't be true considering your succinct message for Robert and the language of Leigh's post-apparently it is the author of the post that warrants its deletion, not the content of the comment, which Brent fails to understand.

Kind of telling which one has his nose planted firmly up Robert's rectum.

John Colby said this:

Excellent speech — has Norse realized the Task Force Report is part of local coup?
by John E. Colby

Lately I have been lamenting that Robert Norse and other Santa Cruz activists don't seem to realize that a local shutdown of open democracy is being executed by Mayor Lynn Robinson and her right wing cohorts on the City Council in collusion with Take Back Santa Cruz (TBSC), their affiliated fringe groups and the wealthy elite bankrolling them all.

By Norse seeming to agree with Steve Pleich that my Freedom of Information (FOI) investigations often come to conspiratorial conclusions — hell this coup is a conspiracy as most are — it appeared Norse was belittling the scope of what the persons and groups I named are executing. But Norse's speech before the City Council yesterday shows he's beginning to realize this isn't just a few small town NIMBY bigots targeting the poor, people of color and the homeless — all marginal groups in Santa Cruz — but rather that these incremental steps are puzzle pieces in a larger, well organized campaign to shutdown local democracy by subverting the rule law of law.

From what I understand, Norse was booed by the crowd and belittled by City Council members — all prophets and truth tellers are treated miserably by ignorant people. These groups and individuals are so far gone — demonstrating the success of the disinformation campaign rightwing council members, TSBC and their affiliated groups have been conducting — that I doubt any dose of reality can ever wake these people up. I applaud Norse for putting his speech in the pubic record in front of an angry, hostile group that would lynch him if they could get away with it.

My fight against these would be despots is performed mostly in writing, through FOI requests, correspondence with the media and the state and federal government, as well as leveraging social media platforms. I applaud Norse for getting personal with these "proto-fascists", a name well deserved by them. I don't like personal contact with these forces — I find it frustrating and distasteful. However keeping Santa Cruz an open society requires democracy activists like Norse calling out these proto-fascists on their home turf.

Norse is an under-appreciated asset to the community: when he hits the right notes he is extremely articulate. Many of my FOI requests were inspired by information gleaned from Norse's radio show. I hope one day Norse is appreciated here. More local democracy activists must brave the public ridicule of these despotic forces.

In short, more people have to step up to the plate. They have to do it now. And they must begin organizing, just like the dark forces we oppose are well organized. Democracy activists must mount an organized, passionate, nonviolent but assertive democracy campaign.

Just as a reminder, John Colby was evicted from Mission garden Apartments on September 205h. Why? The eviction notice he posted on the internet says it all:

•Disrupting liveability
•Adversely affecting health, safety and right to quiet enjoyment
•Adverse financial effect on project
•Ongoing harassment of other tenants
•Photographing female caregivers after dark
•False complaints and harassment of staff
•False accusations
•Gathering and publishing personal data
•Publishing personal “genealogical analysis” and “family tree’ of staff and family
•Stalking behavior
•Hostile confrontations
•Aggressive interrogation
•Hostile and inappropriate interactions
•Hang-up phone calls to staff’s home numbers
•Loudly discussing (threatening)“going postal”
•Frightening staff
•Harassment of residents
•Causing multiple unreasonable expenditures
•Making multiple false and baseless complaints
•Require substantial management time and resources

I agree Robert Focuses too much on the homeless when civil rights are being eroded everywhere. If some jock kid says "they hate our cops" then we as copwatch activists have failed since that jock kid does not dislike and distrust cops as well.....
GENERALIZE IT ROBERT. Cops abuse their power with housed and even upper middle class people as well.

The usual Sentinel pepperspray-the-poor propaganda.

Mastodon myth-making marches on.

"Public safety" = harsher penalties for raggedy-dressed youth sitting near buildings, more cops harassing disabled homeless people sleeping in the Pogonip, & Not-In-My-Backyard and Not-Near-My-Business removal of "scary-looking" folks.

And, senile but raging Drug War Prohibition-Pushers roused again from their tombs, shaking cans of needles and looking to their prim leaders on City Council to "clean up" the town.as they lurch forward growling "More Police", "More Jails", "harsher sentences for repeat offenders" (sitting next to a building twice is already punishable by up to a year in jail and $1000 fine).

City Council---all eager to cling to power--all ready to create a second phony Task Force and fund implementation of recommendations--however absent real stats about real crime.

If enough people buy into the fantasy and shriek in unison with the assiduously-created hysteria, who cares about the reality?

The new moneyed transients from over-the-hill driving away older Santa Cruz folks made homeless by a toxic economy.

Coldest weather in Santa Cruz history. You betcha.
