Warming stations for homeless people is the only decent thing to do as a society. That is until we can build them all their own houses, which shouldnt take that long if we put our minds and hearts to it!!!!

Peace and love!!!

Hi, everyone! It's Christmas. A time for good things and to be with loved ones. Time to see decorated homes, watch Christmas shows, and on Christmas day to give and open presents with the people you love.

But there are those that it can also be a time of sorrow. Please do what you can for those that don't have the things we do.

Here's a Christmas song everyone knows but I think a lot of people have never really listened to the words of. It's a very sad song if you really pay attention to it's meaning.

"Crowded street, busy feet hustle by him.
Downtown shoppers, Christmas is nigh.
There he sits all alone on the sidewalk.
Hoping that you wont pass him by.

Should you stop?, better not, much too busy.
Youre in a hurry, my how time does fly.
In the distance the ringing of laughter.
And in the midst of the laughter he cries."

Please help those that are less fortunate than you.

Joyeux Nol to everyone ..... and please help others to also have one.

Warming stations aren't enough. They should be lodged in the Ritz Carlton until their houses are ready for them.

In all seriousness, pretty much every hotel in Santa Cruz has vacancies this time of year and they could easily be used to house all of our homeless during cold spells.

A warming center seems more politically feasible, though.

We could also amend the transient occupancy tax to compel hotels to put up homeless people for several nights during the X-mas season.

There is no reason why the Dream Inn couldnt do this.

One thing I am doing this year is to bring extra money with me when I shop in downtown Santa Cruz. A lot of people panhandle down there and I want to be sure to give as many people money as possible.

I wish some of the trust fund babies who read this forum would also be generous with their "free" money and give to the poor this holiday season.

Well DBS, if you were to work for a living instead of sponging off your trust fund, we could use that money to establish a warming center.

I am all for taxing the rich. Your father never paid his fair share after he struck it rich, in my view. He should have paid back all the welfare money he received after WWII.

Giving free money to those that beg is enabling. Give your money and time to the many social services that are helping the homeless in a more substantial and equitable way. Baking goods, giving people food, housing them in your own home, that makes a good homeless activist and many of us have done this throughout our lives. No bleating about how someone else should build a house for those that can't take care of themselves. Zero trolling for trolls with the same bullsh*t. Real help, not hot air.

With lobster and steak dinner every night.

A much more modest proposal than Kobe Beef dinners at the Ritz.

Now you are being just plain silly.

Food with the rooms would be good though.
