Move on to another topic please--June has resigned!
If there are any repercussions, I'm sure you will be the first to point them out to everyone! |

And, for your information, my post yesterday was my first one ever. Check yourself, you have me confused with Resident of District 4.
Wow, a mistake! |
Congratulations to the new school board appointee, and good luck trying to please some folks in HER district.
My prayers go with her.......... |

From reading GA Girls comments, I bet if Ga Girl held an office, it would be conducted fairly.
And if you look back at out of towns post about the Senate Bill, it appears that the BOE was illegal about using their power of eniment domain. It has also been discovered that the BOE DID NOT do a worst case scenario on the hazardeous study on the new school site. |
Thanks Country Man, you are make some good points! |
I beg your pardon for mistaking you for "Resident of District 4." I so glad to know you are two different people. Also, my apologies to "Resident of District 4" for mistaking you for "District 4 Voter." |

Teresa McLendon Hayes is the new school board member for District 4. She was appointed last week by the School Board.
It is my understanding that she was appointed by the board to serve out Mrs. Carter's term until an election can be held next year. At that point in time, she may or may not decide to run for the position. Anyway, I wish her the best of luck. Glad the Board picked a female. She is a smart woman, a graduate of THS, her children are THS graduates, and she now has several grandchildren in this school system. She will be concerned and she will work hard on all issues, especially the new school. Good luck, Mrs. Hayes. |
I wish the best to Mrs. Hayes! And I certainly don't think we'll have a situation arise in which she moves out of her district. Also, her daddy, Mr. George L. McLendon served our county very well as a Treutlen County Commissioner. |
Was not Mr. George L. a member of the BOE also before becoming county commissioner?
I'm not sure, I don't think so. Gerald Hooks was though.
Yes, I think you are right. He served on the school board before becoming a commissioner. I also wish Mrs. Hayes well. I think it is great that they appointed a female. I feel she will do a great job for our school system. I also remember when she was my brother's para-pro at the old primary school. I feel she can relate with both sides of the issues. She knows how it is to work with the school system and now have grand-kids in it. I don't know her very well but I have always heard good things about her. I do know her two girls and they are a pleasure to be around. Both of them graduated from this school system. I also don't think she will be moving out of her district. Since, she lives on the same farm that she grew up on. But I do wish June the best. |

I suppose I am a little slow, can any of you explain the article in the soperton news on what the BOE is asking about a wavier. Sounds like CHUCK and his attorneys are up to more of there legal "illegal" activities. As he has already enforced on the citizens of this county.Espically the 1,200 kids that depend on his/and the board for thier safety.
Don't know anything about a waiver. Why not ask your school board member? It's great that there doesn't have to be a special election to fill Mrs. Carter's place. That saves the county money. Elections and special elections cost a lot of money. |
Anybody who wouldn't pay the medical bills on her own son don't need to be worried about what goes on in Treutlen Co. Schools anyways. |
I am also a parent & did the best thing for my child. I took her out of public school & home schooled her. I know for a fact that it was the best thing I could have ever done for her. She didn't miss a thing. And yes, she did have friends & had many church functions & trips to be involved with . She was very happy with it all & is ready now to start college. Alot of you people just don't know everything that is going on. Part of BOE has been very dishonest about this whole thing with the school among other things like the board member that was serving illegally with the rest knowing it. And alot of you think they have your child's best interest at heart. I don't think so. Yes, I know that there is no such thing as a perfect school, but ya know some are just worse than others. And what about those people out there that are having their restrictions removed. How would you like to purchase property knowing there can never be a big facility placed there & all of a sudden that happens. I understand that there is a state law stating that eminent domain cannot be used if there is other land that can be purchased without doing that to someone. And there is other land. It's all about being on a main highway for a certain persons name to be seen. And what about all that dangerous traffic congestion that is going to be there. With that extra traffic along with the extra fuel tankers for the new fuel plant, the accident risk are much higher for one of those fuel trucks. If that happens, studies show that if your child happens to be standing just in front of the school, they will die. Even if there is an accident & your child is inside the school, they will be burned in a matter of seconds. It's all on paper for all parents to see if they were informed. BOE is trying to keep things quiet. Yes, things like that are possible anywhere, but when you're mixing all that school traffic & fuel tankers on a busy main highway,it's more likely. Parents need to think about this! |

You talk about how OLD soperton use to be, this is a prime example of how we have changed. Years ago I would hoped to believe that we would not have infringed on someone's property rights and not let any local goverment do so, when they had other options that would have been safer for our children and less expensive to the tax payers.
We need to strive to get every BOE member voted out of office. |
