Never Mind. I see it in the picture captions. Very nice idea. I want to go check it out now. My great uncle was a survivor from this area. He died in the early 80's but the stories passed down to me by his wife and kids are absolutely harrowing. Soon, there will be none left. If you want to acknowledge them while you can, participate in the Bataan Memorial March at White Sands Missile Range every March.

My name is Eileen Rogers Mullins and I live in Lakewood, Colorado. My father was Joel Lee Rogers, who lived in Bayard and was a Bataan Death March Survivor.

I would like to personally take a moment to say a BIG THANK YOU to the students who were responsible for putting this Bataan Memorial Mural together. The brave men and women who fought in WWII did so unselfishly and sacrificially at a great cost. These men and women are leaving us rapidly now. The real history about the Bataan Death March and our nation’s history that we have lost from our children’s school textbooks is truly shameful. However, the efforts that these wonderful students have put forth on this mural will help to re-introduce the real history of Bataan, not only in the local community, but in the life of any visitor to the area who is privileged to see it. We owe a debt of gratitude to those brave men and women, as we do to the brave men and women fighting today..

Students, thank you so much. This mural goes a long way to keeping their memory alive in our hearts forever.

Thank you for posting this article. Norval & Rhea Tow are my uncles as Kathy is my cousin. As near as I can tell Kathy has the story correct. We are all proud of their contribution and sacrifice.
