The BSA built the building. It is their building. They played nice with a city that lacks morals and they get this in return. Is your ex mayor back to the crack pipe again? Street was as corrupt as they come. He got his butt whipped by the BSA. THE COURT ALREADY DECIDED THAT THEY MUST PAY. The BSA even gave them an easy way out and they are just going to have to pay more now. Ignorant to have a city full of criminals and misguided youths and start a battle with an organization that gave them something positive to do. Well I guess they are back to selling drugs and shooting the place up. Good job city of idiots

You are both dissembling and incorrect.
As I said the proposed deal, which is stalled, was for the city to avoid potentially having to pay those disputed legal fees. That's why the deal offered the city owned property to the bigot Boy Scouts at less than market value. In exchange for vacating the 1,000,000 in legal fees, thought to be inflated.
The deal is stalled because City Council refuses to approve the sale. Nothing is settled, although as I admitted there are many powerful bigots and so it's a real political fight as to where this all ends in the short run. Others have made public offers for the property in question. The city could sell to one of these private buyers and use any extra proceeds to pay whatever legal fees finally must be paid.
In the long run, as with marriage equality, the number of sexually hysterical homophobes is dwindling year over year.

We are not, as we must not be, guided by our views of whether the Boy Scouts' teachings with respect to homosexual conduct are right or wrong; public or judicial disapproval of a tenet of an organization's expression does not justify the State's effort to compel the organization to accept members where such acceptance would derogate from the organization's expressive message. While the law is free to promote all sorts of conduct in place of harmful behavior, it is not free to interfere with speech for no better reason than promoting an approved message or discouraging a disfavored one, however enlightened either purpose may strike the government
<quoted text>
Let's see if I understand you correctly. You think the government should not be able to compel a group to take into membership, anyone who does not meet their criteria for conduct and character. Is that about right?? A private group should not have to take anyone they don't want into membership. Churchs do this all the time. As long as they ARE private, that's their perogative. The Boy Scouts, however, tried to play both sides of the fence. It is one or the other.

BTW
Why does a gay or lesbian not meet the criteria for conduct and character?

No liar, the lease never said the bigot Boy Scouts owned the building. Even the court decision favorable to the bigot Boy Scouts did not find that the bigot Boy Scouts own the building. That's why sale of the building to the bigot Boy Scouts is being discussed.

You're an apparently insane liar and bigot.

The matter is still under review. There could be further litigation. The City Council would have to approve any sale of the building, particularly if it were to the bigot Boy Scouts at below market rates. The local Boy Scouts, I suppose, could genuinely try to move more and more of their programs to their non discriminatory Liberty Council program.

For others beside the ignorant bigot-filth Abe, the Philly Boy Scouts indicated some years ago they would be happy to abide by local anti discrimination ordinances in Philly. It was pressure from the national, bigot Boy Scouts that made the local Scouts back away from that place. And then came the litigation.

Anyway, the bigot Boy Scouts have a lot of pull. The ultimate solution to their bigotry, as with marriage equality, will be in the medium, not short, term.

You do understand that this organization receives a substantial part of its support from a governmental unit. I actually don't have a problem with them helping out anyone but I see most people posting on here are hypocrites. They scream about the BSA but not about this.
The BSA has had problems with homosexuals in the past. There were a couple homosexual leaders who cost them millions and as far as the kids go they don't discriminate based on homosexuality but children who believe they are homosexual have a problem with the pledge and mission of the BSA. I know you are probably dying to deny that but ask yourself if you believe they are standing at the door asking the children if they are gay before allowing them to sign up. I doubt that is a claim that you would make

I didn't know that this organiztion also received gov. funds. I still think their cause is a good one. As to the Boy Scouts, can you tell me what is in their mission that would leave homosexual kids out???

I don't doubt that they are doing good work. I have no doubt the BSA is also doing good work. Their issue can be found in the oath On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

I don't see any conflict with that oath. Any little boy, heterosexual or homosexual should be able to keep that oath if that is what he wants to do.

And many of both have. The problem which is extremely rare is the god reference. Here is my whole point. I don't care about this group helping gays and I don't object to churches that help out there people, I don't object to the bsa or big brother. If an organization helps people then why waste your energy trying to knock them.
I was simply pointing out the hypocrisy of many on here

Hey moron, you're a liar and a bigot.

Tell me who has the title (ownership) papers of the building right now if all this has been settled in the courts as of now as you say.

Hint: The city still has title. The matter is still being worked on.

You lie, you're ignorant, you're a bigot, you don't know anything, you don't want to know anything, you never will know anything.

We certainly know you do not oppose bigotry, particularly anti gay bigotry.

And your saying the bigot Boy Scouts had problems "with homosexuals" reveals it all:

1. The bigot Boy Scouts bar openly gay Scouts. They didn't have problems with openly gay Scouts. There have been instances of child abuse involving closet case Scout Masters and administrators.

2. The bigot Boy Scouts didn't "have problems" with all homosexuals. The bigot Boy Scouts had some abuse scandals with apparently homosexual - or at least pedo - individuals.

You can't separate "part" from "whole." Well, when it dovetails with your sexual disorder of homophobia, anyway. If would involve all the str8 men who violently rape women then suddenly you can grasp that isn't all str8 men.

You're a lying, ignorant bigot. Genuine filth.

Hey dullard, who is guaranteed by the courts to receive full ownership of the building in question and a cool million? Hahaha your stupid city went to a gun fight carrying a straw and some nalkins

Yup the BSA has learned from previous behavior of gay Scout Masters and administrators. Too bad but that doesn't make them bigots but rather observant

Well then, lying piece of filth, by your same "logic" we have all learned from the ongoing behavior of so damn many str8 men violently raping women and incesting their kids. Naturally so describing all str8 men doesn't make me a bigot but rather observant.

You disgusting, ignorant cretin.

BTW, there was a court decision. It was not a US Supreme Court decision, however. No legal fees, no sale of the building, no transfer of title has taken place, liar. The City Council and private bidders are involved in the process now. It's been ongoing.
