Not many black people in San Jose! They were move out in Silicon Valley
Causes:
1) Rising high-priced housing
2) Driven out the ghetto by the Mexicans, just like Compton in L.A.
so, they are considering moving back to the South.

Wow - you are so racist Beijing! You apparently do not live in San Jose - there are a lot of black and Mexican people there who are very prominent and wealthy. I would say half to majority of the successful people in Silicon Valley are people of color. I love the stereo types of California from other states. They all just scream hate and jealousy.

No, there are not any black people in San Jose. People talk about how diverse it is in San Jose, but the truth is Asians and most Mexicans will have nothing to do with blacks. In general people are very racist toward blacks San Jose. Here are stats and you can check them the population is 2% for blacks. Denver has ore blacks then San Jose. Some Mexican people will associate with blacks, but for the most part people don't want them in San Jose. This is coming from a black male that has lived in San Jose for 30 years. In 20-25 years Asians will control most of San Jose, and the DON'T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH BLACKS, for the most part.

Beeijing, you are right. I grew up in a very nice area on the east side (not too far from the Berryessa Flea Market ([email protected] Road). It was before 680 was installed; lots of agriculture and things for young kids to do. Now that everything has gone high-tech, they have paved the most prime agricultural land. It's sad--my San Jose has been gone for a long time. Big-business ran it into the ground when they sold out the mom & pop shops. Artisans are a thing of the past :( San Jose may have gone high-tech, but it sold its soul in the process. I began to loathe living in the valley; people had become so self-centered. No longer did neighbors help one another on Saturday morning to quickly finish yard work so the "men" could go fishing! No more spontaneous visits on a Saturday or Sunday!--no, calendars have to be coordinated and appointments have to be made. I moved to Oregon (about 20 miles west of Eugene). Although they lean more on the side of racism, at least the good people are REALLY good and you can drop in on a friend unannounced and it's ok! People fish together, camp together, boat together. It's the way San Jose used to be.

I Robert Strongly don't agree with the writers of the issues of Blacks. I am a Black America myself,
I don't know if these persons are black themselves
but they are wrong. The Blacks don't have go to the
South or anywhere else. To, feel like we belong or
feel a part of San Jose. We, as a people need to wake up our feelings and start being right in the
way we see and feel about things. At, least be right
in some form of our ideas.

1st understand that there is no sure things as a "Black" America.
The facts are facts. 2% of americans in San Jose, Ca are of African decent. You dont go to a white person and call him a "White American"? The issue is simple... racism is alive and well... and we need to understand this point and work with what we have.
The Asian community is the blue print we need to follow... so the questions is can we???

There are some blacks in San Jose, I'm a black woman and have lived in San Jose for a few years. Certainly not a preference. The culture in the bay area in general is very hollow. People are satisfied and often boast amount mundane activities. Often sad to listen to, I often think how pathetic and empty a lot of them are. Because of this, for them to actually go beyond their wanna be Hollywood and unspoken insecurities, they would not find the time to care let alone attempt to be part of a solution regarding issues that plague the black community, and yes you guessed right they certainly don't want me here :-)

What do you mean issues that plague the black community?

Most Blacks in San jose have high levels of education

If you are talking about Black community in overall

The only solution is armed revolution or a mass migration back to Africa.

So which one do you pick? If you none then you cannot claim attempt any solution

As an other solution is a mere illusion of progress and more mental enslavement as well as economically, and poltically

The "Blacks" I know over the past 40 years in San Jose are highly educated and important. If they moved it's upgrade to higher quality of living and class. They come from rich families or middle class families from earlier generations and have strong lineage. They are successful people.

There was a migration of Asians in the 80's and 90's from Vietnam and other parts of South East Asia changed the landscape of San Jose. They were paid lower wages and worked in manufacturing wharehouses in stock rooms of Silicon Valley others educated but still earned less as they were not educated or seen as intelligent. Many poor Asians on San Jose during the late migration lived with multiple families in one home. Much to be called a ghetto lifestyle in terms of community.

You are very wrong about the Blacks in SJ. The ways of the migrating from the south is subjective by class and generation. Many of you posting know very little about culture and history of America and the contributions by successful Black people or of African decent who lived in San Jose.

Hmm lean more on the side of racism? Funny how a large amount of Caucasians move from CA to OR looking for an all white state? Good luck with that!

The majority of the population in San Jose, California is of Mexican descent. Very few blacks, but a fair amount of Asians.
