Maybe it has something to do with most of their students entering high school with the ambition to be a DJ, a rap star or a pro football player, instead of having a good foundation and direction that was instilled by the parents! You can't always blame the orchard, sometimes the apple falls directly from the tree!

Quote:
"Located in South Los Angeles, where new immigrants mostly from Mexico and Central

America settle, the area has a large minority population and high poverty.
Of its 1,977 students last school year, 45 percent qualified as English learners. More than 90 percent qualified for free or reduced-price lunches"

It's reasonable to assume that at least 50% of "students" in this school are either illegal or children of illegals. I'm saying "students" because there is nothing studious about them, just a bunch of ho's & gangbangers.

But the real question is this -- Are we obligated to provide free education and free lunches to foreign nationals? I'm not against some amount of foreign aid but to spend millions & millions on these foreigners when our state is broke?

A 58% drop out rate at this one school? An overall LAUSD dropout rate of 38%? What is the City of L.A. going to do with all those under educated people for jobs?

Oh, I know! LAUSD will hire them as employees - afterall, LAUSD has a huge workforce of mostly under educated employees (this is not a reference to its Teachers - it's the million other employees that are in non-educational positions)!

I get it now, it's a means for LAUSD to have large worker pool to recruit from! Brilliant idea LAUSD!

Does any one know how those numbers compare to Tijuana and Juarez?

Has Mexican record keeping incorporated L.A. yet.

To compare the LA. Public Schools results to an American Cities schools is meaningless.

Seriously, How do L.A. voters look their own children in the eye after betraying them on so many levels???????

One problem that effects the future - parents teaching their kids how to be welfare recipients. How many generations in some families have only been welfare recipients? Those families do not know anything but to teach their children and their children to be welfare recipients. So, why would they know anything else?

The parents that are workers have the skills to teach their kids how to be workers.

Welfare - it's not just a transitional situation - it's a lifestyle.

Could this be the reason that California's Democratic Party majority refuses to implement Federal Law which Pres. Clinton signed to stop the devastating consequences of ongoing welfare dependency?

Could the citizens in the other 49 States be on to something that just might have a positive impact on our State?

Guess the Democratic voters in other States won't settle for our view that California's best day will always be yesterday as we slide into chaos under those judged plenty good enough for Los Angeles Democratic voters.

This is a product of a welfare system that has destroyed the black family and encouraged illegal immigrants to have "anchor babies" allowing them to leach off the taxpayer. If these dropouts had to pick through garbage dumps for food instead of getting food stamps, maybe they might try staying in school.

i used to unfortunately live close to this school. it is a highly gang-infested area. basically if you are not in a gang, they will jump you in regardless of if you want to or not. but hey they've got a great arcade nearby, oh wait, they don't... but what about that movie theater the kids can go to? oh yeah, none... in that area there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING constuctive for kids to do that would be safe... hence the gang problem.. its very sad. the police in the newton division which serve this area don't even come right away when they get a call of "shots fired" it takes about 20 minutes for them to get there. anyone want to do a mapquest and see how far the newton station is from this area? literally 5 minutes if that.

Remember, Clinton signed the welfare reform act ten years ago.

Tragically, Califonria's vile politicians refuse to impliment it and even face fines for failing to implement the law.

Ofcourse, ignoring laws you don't like is typical of the banditos who own the State Democratic Party.

One example recently revealed is the FACT that our Gangster politicians have found "ways" to fund over $300 million just for Food Stamps provided to the illegal aliens in L.A. County last year alone.

California is in decline because we choose to make FOOLS of ourselves. is it self loathing that motivates today's L.A. County Democratic majority to sanction so much madness from their own Party's politicians????

The legislators in Sacramento have bankrupt the State of California with their reckless giveaway spending and now that we are broke they whine about it and want to soak the taxpayers for even more money to throw down the rat hole. They are idiots. Why in the world do they keep getting reelected? I haven't voted for one of these incumbant clowns in years, so I don't feel responsible.

And, only 10% of LAUSD students attend college - That is not good news for Los Angeles City. An under-educated workforce.

There are only so many Burger King jobs to go around here.

Yikes!

One of the most drastic differences between American Democrats and the hyper destructive Calif. verision of a Democrat is the willingness to sacrifice effective public education.

It would be easy to surmise that the current citizens in L.A. County who continue to Elect the least among us have lost their minds.

Forget Republicans. We have ONLY the pathetic judgment of majority Democrats to blame for the ongoing deconstruction of once proud California by the racist Chicano La Raza crowd and the aging hippie Marxists who Democratic voters support as though they were worthy of any ones trust.

i don't think its democrats, republicans, or any race to blame, although some races do tend to not educate their children more than others. i think that taxpayers and parents themselves are to blame for putting up with the bloated legislation and subpar education that the children receive. half of the college graduates i know here in california can't spell properly or use grammar in a correct way. and what do their children learn?
