Two Centinela Valley incumbents out despite endorsements, contr...

Full story: Daily Breeze

A powerful endorsement and plentiful campaign contributions were not enough for a slate of three candidates to win seats on the Centinela Valley Union High School District Board of Education this week.

Will the Daily Breeze now delete this thread now too?

Foreman, Pizano, Rojas, and Molina should be disgusted with their "campaign". Ramos was actually hear yelling at teachers who were at polls with their campaign signs and yelled to the teacher, "Do not ask me for any favors". Surprise, Surprise. She does do favors? Like TELACU? CVSTA DID NOT ENDORSE THESE CROOKS!!!! Maybe now our students can get some part time work from Rojas stealing campaign signs? Or Pizano can hire TELACU for another major project? New promise is to make sure these crooks are led away in handcuffs. It will happen.

I am not going to question "teacher" comments since I am not aware of the issues affecting Centinela Valley and to do so would be unprofessional. However, I believe that having Felix in the slate of three had a negative effect since she is seen as an ally of Fajardo, Cruz, Ibarra,(Moffet Elementary) and their most recent political gifts (at District Office and the Cafeteria) who all happened to be from Moffet. The slate of three sending fliers endorsing Cruz to the community outrage many of us. Yet, the reality is that many of us cannot vote in Lennox but we can definitely vote in our respective communities. I do not know the slate of three but I believe they were victims of guilt by association. I do not know if you ever saw the Cruz's image (I survived L3nnox-family with child holding a machine gun and reference to Lennox 13) in her website, which she hesitantly removed (3 days after she was asked to) after the teacher union members and parents complained of its depiction of the community, but I am sure that had your students' community being depicted in that matter you would have taken a stand for your students and parents.

Furthermore, instead of apologizing to the community and accepting that she made a mistake in choosing such depiction, she defended herself and to this day has not apologized to the community.

The slate of three must not associate with such individuals.

Centinela's self-destruction continues. I laugh every time I read one of these stories about how things are going to change for the district. Yeah right. These communities keep electing shady Mexicans who are there for one thing only- to pay favors to their cronies. This is the end result of any school district if left unchecked long enough with this low caliber of leadership. That Molina chick has never even held a job before...gimme a break.

Who elected Rafael Ramirez straight out of high school??? Molina is a graduate student. Leave her alone. Stop being so angry. If you don't like it get out of town. The elected officials are trying to make a difference but the small elite teachers are trying to be footloose and fancy free. Reform is on the way at last.

The voters were deceived by corrupt politicians who only care about their image and Leuzinger memorabilia! Suarez and the other two women are out to vindicate themselves from those who they dislike! Is this the type of leadership that we want in our district? Hugo Rojas a convicted drunk who endangers children? Rocio Pizano a mindless goon who takes "special interest" money from TELACU a firm she hired for the district to finance her own ambitions? The communities of Lawndale, Hawthorne, and Lennox deserve much more. This is not people we can entrust our children to.

Have you been to a board meeting were these ladies conduct a circus ring? Maybe if you took the time to inform and educate yourself on the issues you would think twice before you post arbitrary comments.

I am so happy that Rojas is off the Hawthorne School District Board. This convicted drunk who endangers children, instructs biys to steal campaign signs and impersonates law enforcement is now Centinela's problem. Molina does not undersatnd the word "work" because she has never held a real job. Theory will not cut it in the real world. Does she think that by dating Rojas she will pick-up some intelligence through osmosis? Rocio Pizano has a personal agenda which self first and then the students. She has approved millions of taxpayers dollars wastefully.
Enjoy your short tenure on the board - unifications is just around the corner. Then each of you will run against real board members who put the education of students first before personal agendas.

You don't know what you are talking about get the facts before you open your big mouth. All you can do is call people names and put down good people that are trying to make a difference. Why don't you have the courage to run for the board and try to make a change yourself.

Does not matter who runs the district: It is a Ghetto and will always be a ghetto. Check your crime rate out, drop out rates, and test scores. Just look around the neighborhoods: shootings, robberies, assaults. A definition of a GHETTO, GHETTO, GHETTO!! Parent's don't care about their kids because they have too many kids or are former loosers themselves. If they became something, they would not be living in the hood anymore because they would realize that the ghetto is not a good place to raise a kid. Teachers only work in the ghetto because they can't find a job in a good district and they discover that teaching is a stable "tenured" job that pays great money. Don't cry and say your under paid and work long hours. You get great money and work wonderful hours with a secur job. TENURE!! Then instead of focusing on teaching the unions get involved in politics. They decide to run a slate using teacher union money and then after they are elected, the slate turns against them. You would think by now that the union would stay out of politics knowing that every person they run ends of turing against them. Look at Hawthorne board member: Bran, Salas and Talavera did the same. Keep teaching for the money and stability and stay out of POLITICS!

Smart, smart, smart. The decision to privately educate your child is one you will NEVER regret. It will pay huge dividends all through his or her life. Sending a kid to the CV schools is a form of child abuse.

I am unpleased to hear about CV schools. It is my understanding that CV schools are now making a push to make small learning communities (SLC's). LOL! Yet, another ploy to attract fleeding families in my community to send ada their way. Unfortunately, SLC's are another gimmick or fad in education. Good luck for those suckers buying stock in this new gimmick.

WOW, THANKS FOR CALLING MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN GHETTO FOR LIVING AND GOING TO SCHOOL IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN.....I STAY BECAUSE I REFUSE TO LET THE LOWLIFE LOSER POS'S RUN ME OUT OF MY CITY!!! IN THIS ECONOMY AND HOUSING BS I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EVEN SELL MY HOUSE AT A DECENT PRICE TO BE ABLE TO MOVE TO A MORE DESIRABLE NEIGHBORHOOD AND I AM A LAW ABIDING TAXPAYING CITIZEN WHO SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEND MY KIDS TO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL AND EXPECT A DECENT EDUCATION AND A BOARD AND SUPERINTENDENT THAT HAVE OUR KIDS BEST INTEREST IN MIND 24/7!!! AND HOW DARE YOU CLAIM THAT PARENTS DONT CARE BAOUT THEIR KIDS!!! MOST HUSBANDS/WIVES ARE WORKING 2 AND 3 JOBS JUST TO STAY AFLOAT IN THIS ECONOMY, YES THE FAMILIES SUFFER FROM LACK OF TIME TOGETHER, BUT THIS SHOULD NOT AFFECT THE TREATMENT MY KIDS GET AT SCHOOL BY THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WATCHING OUT FOR THEIR BEST INTEREST!!! ITS TIME WE GET MORE PARENTS TO STAND TALL AND STAND LOUD AND FORCE CVU AND MR. FERNANDEZ AND HIS BOARD OF NEW IDIOTS TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH ALL THE PROMISES THEY KEEP MAKING BUT REFUSE TO ACTUALLY DO....THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LYING, CONIVING, TWO-FACED CRIMINALS WITH ONLY PERSONAL AGENDAS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STUDENTS, TEACHERS OR PARENTS!!!!

If you spent more time teaching and less time posting to this board maybe you'll have less drop-outs.

You have got to be kidding? There will be no reform with these bunch of fools on the board. Corruption will continue and I agree with the person who said they will be taken away in handcuffs. The day that happens I hope the Daily Breeze puts it in their front page. And why are they deleting the comments thread whenever people try to expose these crooks for what they are? Does the Daily Breeze also have some vested interest in seeing this continue? Well yeah, I guess it does give them something to write about.

I left Hawthorne over 30-years ago. What the hell have the people of Hawthorne done this once wonderful city. Their never seems to be anything positive said or done in Hawthorne, when I read the "topic." I read in the Daily Breeze a few weeks ago, where they towed over 200-plus cars away at a Police check-point. I've never heard of such, but I hear it's common in and around L A. All I can say is, "that I'm glad I grew up and lived in the best of times."

There are huge divides within CV- each has their own idea on how to "improve" a district with a high transient population (unfortunately), low test scores, and a 65% grad rate (about)... There has also been an influx of charter schools in the area, which are able to offer an alternative to the lower achieving high schools (Leuzinger, Hawthorne).. Although these charter schools benefit those students who get accepted, those students who don't "meet" the charter schools "standards"- good student who passes all their classes (including minimum GPA), no real special needs to have to accommodate, high test scores from middle/elementary school years, high 8th grade placement test scores in math and English, etc. end up getting "dumped", aka forced, aka persuaded, to have their child attend either Leuzinger or Hawthorne (and sometimes Lawndale).. As the local high school, Hawthorne and Leuzinger by law have to take all students that live withinin their local boundaries.. Unfortunatley, this tends to be the students who are at higher risk (low test scores, high ELL population, students receiving special education services, previous behavior/discipline/attendance issues, students who come to the 9th grade reading below grade level and are not testing well in math usually either)... So, Hawthorne HS and Leuzinger HS are left with all the students from Lawndale, Wiseburn, Hawthorne, and Lennox that don't get into the charter schools, or other neighboring south bay higher performing schools. So it is a difficult situation for sure, and will be a continual struggle I foresee.. I do know that Mark Newell, the 2nd year principal at Hawthorne HS, is definitely making POSITIVE CHANGE!!

Neither Rojas nor Pizano responded to interview requests.

"At the moment I'm extremely happy about this accomplishment in my life and just want to dedicate some time to myself and family," Molina wrote in an e-mail.

Molina declined to comment further because she said it was her birthday.

Thank you to Pizano, Rojas and Molina for being highly interested in our district.
Your lack of interest in the education of our children is already starting to show.
How soon do you plan on working on the lowest tests scores in the South Bay?
