Wow, it's lots of fun to read all the clever thoughts from people on this issue. I think most respondents have been conservatives on this topic but let's see what a moderate has to say:

Vonde has thoughtfully considered things and he or she has decided that killing them all is not an answer. Perhaps only "some" should be killed? Perhaps the rest can be mutilated, maybe blinded, to stop further crimes?
Having heard from the moderates, let's see what the conservatives have to say:

Scarface seems like an honest fellow. He wants to murder the sex-offender, his former girlfriend and her current boyfriend. Isn't that against Topix posting rules?
Bottom line is that this craziness should be ended. Sex-offender registries are really target lists for a bunch of murderous lunatics.
Thats right. I bet Stanly will be found under his REAL name there in the registry. Wanna bet? So, Stan, what do you think ?
Are the child predators the victims? Were all their victims 'asking for it'? Stan, you and your ilk will ALWAYS be targets. Be careful.. Yes, the craziness should be ended...with a bullet in the sex offenders head. A horrible waste of skin is what they are.

How about moving forward we have everyone involved in releasing a predator be held liable for any crimes they commit after their release?
That will make them think twice about who they let out.

i know one of his victims, this man should not have been released and he will violate again. He is a predator and does not think that he did anything wrong with respects to the rape or child molestations. he has not been healed or successfully treated. he still believes what he did was OKAY. so YES, maybe the judge should be held accountable when he strikes again.

Then they'd have to change the law,
and if they did, for example, make it a LIFE SENTENCE,
the ACLU and bleeding hearts would be all over it
because it would be "cruel and unusual punishment".

As if the crime perpetrated on an innocent victim
was not "cruel and unusual".

The laws need to be changed
to get vermin off the street.

Period.

I'm not on any registry since I've never been convicted of any crime. I've also never been arrested or indicted for any crime and in fact I've never committed any crime. People who do things like rape/molestation deserve to go to jail and that's what happened in this case.
The offender's sentence has expired so he should be set free. That's how American justice is supposed to operate but with sex-offenders the constitution gets scrapped and prosecutors get to hold offenders after their allotted time. They now claim it's a civil matter, not a criminal matter, but jail is jail no matter what it's called.
In this thread "scarface" called for killing the offender, his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. You made veiled threats against me. That's enough reason to end the sex-offender registry system since it's nothing but a target list, the 21st Century's equivalent to the Inquisition.

Hey, great idea. Let's extend it to people who very likely committed serious crimes but avoided justice through sharp lawyers, stupid jurors or uncaring judges. That way nobody charged with any crime would ever be set free. The Orange County judge in this case would have been too frightened to set the rapist free since there's always the chance of another offense. Hey, I'm glad you're thinking. Keep up the great thoughts!

Sex offenders are treated as subhuman. Now before you start saying how they should all be killed just think about what that says about your humanity.
Can a person pay for their crimes and reenter society?
Can a person face their wrong acts and choose to be better?
Does healing only apply to victims? Don't you think perpetrators of crime need to heal as well?
Is a person only as good as the worst thing they've ever done?
As decent people we need to allow other people the ability to work for their own redemption and not just scream "Kill them, Kill them" or demonizing officials with some humanity.
His condition is incurable. You could offer him shelter if you are insistent that he's cured. You should not expect others to take risks that you would not take. You can't pay for an illness by doing time and be cured. You can't do time for cancer and be cancer free and you can't go time for a sex crime and be cured of your compulsions to commit them. Society does not deserve to be exposed to an identified problem waiting to happen. It is not fair to the innocent people.

How about using all this hot air to demand some solutions? There is always an answer if we are looking for it. There's a lot of people researching a cure for cancer - this is just as serious and seems to be getting worse.
Why not demand the psychiatrists and psychologists do some work for a change and figure out how to change these guys? Oh, I forgot, they are just pretending to help- labeling everyone mentally ill and drugging them is easy, but where is the cure?

Hey, did all you foaming at the mouth fantatics out there feel the same way towards Michael Jackson? How 'about our esteemed "gropenator" governor?(w\Who I saw molesting women on movie lots all over Southern California 30 years ago.) Actress Selene Walters said Ronald Reagan once showed up at her door at 3 a.m., engaged in a "wrestling match of the couch" and forced himself on her. Should Ronnie have gone to the joint for rape? Same deal for all the sex offender Catholic priests?

When you let yourself get all whipped up into an emotional frenzy (quite easy when the subject is sex here in Puritannical America), go after ALL the sex offenders. Including those with privilege and wealth.

Update: The Meagan's Law website still has this guy listed as "Incarcerated" yet the OC DA confirms his release to free society on Tuesday evening (Nov 10th, 11th was a holiday) as reported in the articles. Davison (or any of his other aliases he is currently using) had five working days to report and register as a sex offender which would have prompted an update to the website. It has certainly been more than the five working days and enough for the updates to have occurred even if every person charged with handling the processes was out sick with the Swine Flu!!!
So, what do we have now - a convicted sex offender and violent criminal who has NOT followed the basic terms of his parole by refusing to register? That is certainly what the public is being informed by utilizing that website..

So where is the news story that he got picked up and is sitting on his sorry a$$ for not having registered?

Pitiful, thought the Meagan's Law was supposed to provide some layer of protection...looks another bureaucratic nightmare sucking more and more tax dollars without any benefits. In this case at least, who would know until you do get a sex offender coming to your neighborhood? You certainly wouldn't know by utilizing the very website we all paid for that was supposed to help.

Where IS Frederick Davison? He is definitely NOT in some half way house, the DA's office confirmed he was free. No electronic surveillance devices.

Guess that the pot growing set up 25 ft from the Topanga Sheriff's office might be some kind of warning that the local residents don't think the deputies are "up to snuff". Another confidence builder for a molester....

Everyone should be demanding to know where this guy is, since our education tool (meagan's law website) is telling us that he's gone missing when you do the math. Let out on Nov 10th and today is Nov 22nd. He had five working days to report. 24 hours to update the website.

Don't give him another hour of freedom!

Hey, "Not Yet," bureaucratic inefficiency is the most likely reason Davison’s new location wasn’t listed on the Megan website. Such registries are not updated right away. One recent news report indicated that registries also contain obsolete data – such as listings of homes and apartments where sex offenders no longer reside. As a result, innocent people have been harassed and even beaten by vigilantes compelled by a frenzied lust for vengeance.
Indeed, it’s appalling to see a lack of rational thought among the responses on this page. Way too much howling and screaming and hate. And especially ignorance. Here’s the way things really work in California:
After some sex offenders finish their prison terms, they're dumped into a make-believe loony bin called Coalinga State Hospital (CSH). Which, by the way, doesn’t have a salad bar, but is surrounded by miles of electric-sensored razor wire and watch towers occupied by guards from the prison next door.
But in order to pretend that CSH is more of a hospital than a prison, Dept. of Mental Health officials staff the place with (expensive) psychologists, social workers and other behavioral specialists who supervise a lengthy, highly-structured therapy program.
Inmates are encouraged to sign up for treatment, and even though this involves a certain amount of coercion, some highly motivated individuals approach therapy with a genuine desire to improve themselves.(In fact, all the men who completed the program have not committed new sex crimes.)
Unfortunately, however, approximately 75 percent of CSH inmates refuse to participate in any kind of therapy at all; many of thise group will probably die there. A large number of CSH prisoners already stagger around on canes and a steady parade of wheel chairs looks as if it’s rolling towards the nearest undertaker.(Can’t die quick enough - right?)
In the meantime, taxpayers will shell out $200,000 to $300,000 per man in annual medical costs associated with the long-term warehousing of these infirm geezers (most of whom long ago slipped to the bottom of recidivism charts while ageing out of their youthful criminality).
Taxpayers suffer additional financial losses when CSH inmates are evaluated periodically by non-CSH psychologists who contrive the type of unfavorable diagnoses that D.A.s want. Some of these money-grubbing hacks have been able to fleece the state for a million dollars a year. And more.(See L.A. Times expose re this practice).
Occasionally, however, a doctor comes up with an objective, favorable diagnosis rather than pander to public hysteria. But just one shrink’s favorable evaluation will not get someone out.
The law says that two state-appointed doctors must simultaneously give a stamp of approval before a CSH inmate can walk. That's what happened with Davison (who was also in treatment). The D.A.'s doctors, along with three defense shrinks, said he was okay to go.
Afterwards, an Orange County prosecutor, ignoring the reports of five psychologists, pouted and sulked and "seethed" while, in turn, much of the public screamed even louder (and more incoherently).
But how many of those same people adored the world’s most famous pedophile: L.A.'s own Wacko Jacko? And does anybody think the governor of "Kally-fornia" should have done time for molesting the women who later sued him for sexual harassment?(At the very least, a governor should be required to correctly pronounce the name of the state he's supposed to govern.)
Do you think Ronald Reagan should have gone to trial in 1952 after Selene Walters accused him of raping her? Or should molesters and rapists with privilege and wealth get a pass?
Perhaps society can even register not just sex offenders, but people who only hit (i.e.,
“discipline”) their children, or regularly beat their wives and girlfriends, or inflict all manner of physical violence on people who suffer just as much - if not more - than victims of sex crimes.
