my heart breaks for this person..................... I can only imagine that the money he won was to pay his bills or send to his family................ he is resting in peace ................. as for the criminals that killed him sooner or later they will end up the same what you do to others will come back to you and sometimes by the same bad people friends they hug around doing bad things......... if you are in a bad path turn around there is a lot of new things you can learned and do instead of hurting others god will help you if you open your heart to good and followed a good path......... my prayers again to the family and deepest condolences.

just stay away from these casinos, this is not the first story I've heard about winners being followed and robbed. Coould it be a lack of parking lot security? Either way stay away from these casinos and save your life.

Why did the victom even get out of the car? He could have steped on it in reverse or something. Unless he was going to uphold honor in front of his female pasenger.

I hope they catch these terrible people. What a heartless act. Chances are they will catch these guys because I'm sure they have them on video at the casino. Casinos have video cameras everywhere including the parking lot. Not only that, but the female passenger is a witness too. I feel for his family. RIP

Ther is a bad combination, a guy with money and either the LBC or Santa Ana. You pick, they both suck.

It should be mandatory to receive a cashier check or a wire money funds to your personal bank account and no exceptions for winnings $500 or more. Yes, Hawaiian Gardens Casino is a death trap and a dangerous casino (gathering place in Italian).

Gamblers wake up, bad people are watching and stalking you. Their parking lots are dangerous. They are just waiting to steal what you won, it never ends. The shark$ are preying on the winner$. This is a parking lot invasion at the casino. I wonder about the parking lot security and camera operators. Could they be involved in the crime? There should be cameras at the exits and entrance signs to record the cars and people.

Sad for the Casino reputation? Maybe the Casino is involved on both ends of the game. And very sad for the families and victim. You should never get out of your car. Always honk the horn or run over those theifs. If you suspect you are being followed go to the police station, fire station or Corp parking lot. Don't forget to dial 911 and get the license plate of the car plus a descriptions of the thievies, write it down.

I have a hammer, steel baseball bat, and 2 knives by my driver seat. And I carry my camera with me at all times. Keep a disposable camera in your car at all times. Keep maze spray or Black Flag wasp spray, it sprays 10-15 feet away. Keep a can by your front and back doors and bedroom at home. The newer cell phones have a 911 button. All cars should have a 911 button.

We need cameras installed in the front and rear windshield of our cars for protection. The police have this, and so should the citizens.

I dont' gamble at Casinos. It is a poor man's rocky road. Gambling is an addiction. I buy lotto tickets once in a while.

Californians should be allowed to carry a handgun for protection.

This kind of stuff happens in most of the Third World Countries like Nuevo Mexifornia.

Voters knew we were destroying our State when we embraced the politicians who were solidly in support of the illegal alien colonization of our Communities.

Some say we are stupid for making such a choice. Most think of today's California majority as just a bunch of Losers who are getting our just desserts.

Police should patrol the area often. or security, but police would be better. Things like this almost make me want to become a police officer...

Not victim's fault, but why take winnings in cash in a large envelope? Agree that casino should have had security also should have issued check.
This is sickening and makes me want to demand frontier justice--when they catch these two they should be shot--show that on You Tube.

Just curious, what caused you to legally emigrate from your unnamed European country to the U.S.? If you feel it necessary to drive with a hammer, baseball bat, and two knives, and you keep cans of wasp spray around the house, maybe your life would be better -- and certainly safer -- back in the old country. You also seem to be totally down on marriage, perhaps you could serve as a nun in a place where Catholicism is the main religion.

Thanks for the tip about the wasp spray, tho. Great idea!

I don't see how the casino's security, or lack of security, gets any blame. The winner was safe while he was in the casino and the parking lot, the crime happened many miles away in Santa Ana.

My guess is 95% of winners have no interest in receiving a check or wire transfer. Why make it easier for the IRS and Franchise Tax Board to track you down for their cut?

That area is dangerous. That person should have had some protection leaving the Casino with that much money. I am sure there are plenty of criminals just hanging around to see if someone wins big and then follow them out and rob them.

They should have help from the police before leaving, or call someone that could help. There should be a place inside the casino where you can deposit your winnings like a teller.

That way you won't have to bring it out to your car.and post a policy that you should do so before leaving.

it would cut down on incidents happening like this. But then if they were illegal, and had not bank account, guess they couldn't do that.

I never leave a bank with that much money without a lot of protection. It's a bad area as mentioned, and should have never had a Casino there in the first place. It just breeds trouble..

@Not Surprised

Come on, get real. You think someone can call the HG Police or sheriffs or whatever and say, "Hello, I just won $1200 playing pai gow poker. Can you guys send over a squad car to give me a police escort back to my house in Santa Ana? Make it snappy, please!"

I don't think so.
