Big brother's greatest hand-me-down: A life fully lived
#1 Feb 22, 2009
Uncle Ed, Thanks for writing such kind words about my dad, your Big Brother. Everything you said about Dad was true. He did, indeed, love baseball. However, his love of God and family was especially important to him. His daily visits to Florida web-sites kept him warm during cold St. Louis winters. Surely he is staying warm with God in Heaven. Dad, you will be missed. Uncle Ed, you are indeed Big Brother now.

I'm very sorry for your family's loss, Mr. Hayes. I'm a newspaper editor who enjoys reading your column each week (in California on the wire service). Take care, and best wishes to you.
