I can not believe that the City of Cape Coral would be so calious at a time of economic strife as to not renew K C's River Stop lease after all the money they put into it to make it the landmark it is today. When they took it over many years ago that piece of property was just an old run down baitshop that was more of an eyesore than anything. Betty and Carmine built it up to what it is today. There are a grea many people go there every day.
Cape Coral has no plans for the property, no set income they may be looking at, nothing. But they are willing and ready to put someone out of business and put several prople out of work and for what reason? I know the City Council has to take into consideration whats best for the Cape as well as for it's citizens, but what good is closing K C's going to do the Cape? Once again you had a room full of supporters for K C's and the council still did as they pleased and to hell with the residents of the city. When are they going to start listening to the requests of it's citizens instead of doing as they want all the time?
We, the citizens of Cape Coral are starting to get pretty fed up.

I agree...This place is atleast for now something good, specially in that location. Putting someone out of buisness hurts everyone. What if noone bids on the location to open up shop? now you just lost income from that location and now it will just be an eye sore..

I am glad that they have decided to open it up so that a better place can take it over. I have never been impressed with the selection or the hours of operation of KC's. I saw several of the places that wanted to take it over on the news talking about extending the deck and offering live music if they were allowed. That sounds way better than anything I have seen out of KC's.

You write your comment up like they are just closing the place and going to leave it vacant. Fords/Firestone, Dixie Roadhouse, and others want to take it over and actually invest in the area.

The owners of KC's are truly two-sided people. When Betty is on camera with the news, she "acts" like she cares about the people, she only cares about money. She took my order the first visit, and I could actually smell alcohol on her breath! She is very, very loud, made my family and I feel very uncomfortable.I have had 2 horrible visits to KC's.The second time was to only get a drink. The employees were extremely rude.I ran into ONE nice employee.I could hear the other employees cursing in this "so called" family place...?I don't know who they are trying to fool, but I've seen first-hand how they act, talk, and treat customers.I overheard the older male owner make racist comments as I was walking by,he didn't even care I/others could hear what he had said.I also saw Betty grab a lady's arm to show her a sign stating no outside food allowed. The poor young lady was simply trying to feed her infant baby a jar of baby food.I just couldn't believe when I saw her on the news talking like she cares about customers. That's what prompted me to write this.It should be known what her true character is!Also the heavy set young man that works the gas pumps is very rude,he makes you feel very unwelcome with his demeaning stares.Again, with the older man(owner),I've observed him in the morning time ignoring customers that walk right by him!I hear/read in the newspaper how it's a "hi,come on in",type of restaurant? How FAR from the truth! There is a very nice older lady who sat outside the restaurant. She explained to me that Betty was her daughter. She went on to tell me that Betty brings her there everyday, all day.She spoke of her dis-pleasure of "having" to be there all the time.Soo sad.I am glad they are leaving, and that poor old lady won't "have" to sit out there in the sun all day, everyday.I hope Betty will take proper care of her own mother.I can't wait to see a new restaurant open there, with nice owners who actually care about customers.(THIS IS NOT INAPPROPRIATE, THIS IS THE TRUTH...)
