Anyway, Racism is ignorant, no matter who's doing it. It's backwards and I find it astounding that a species that has advanced so quickly economically, intellectually, and scientifically, could still be so underdeveloped socially.
Racism is the arrogance of the ignorant. Plain and simple. Every race does it. It's not key to any particular race, but to individuals who are too caught up in their own slanted minds, to look at the big picture.
We have developed as the dominant intellectual species on this planet, and we're still fighting about being physically diverse, which is the same thing we fought about at the dawn of our increased intellectual evolution.
We are cavemen with iPhones, still fighting over territory and physical/cultural differences.
>_> I'm almost ashamed of us.
Some people have evolved, a great many have not. You have to remember, the average IQ in this country is about 100, and half the country scores lower. Our country has never adequately handled that simple fact. Our economy is slanted toward higher IQs, with incomes in blue collar jobs falling well behind as technology has surged. At some point in the relatively near future, there will have to be honest discussions with respect to race and culture. I believe true racism to be very rare, almost non-existent if you hold true to it's biological meaning. Prejudice and culture are the issues, and they are real....and obviously durable.

Agreed. It hasn't been all that long since basic rights were given to many groups in this country. It hasn't been 100 years since women gained the right to vote.

Many of the people who grew up in the climate of hate are still alive today, and making sure to spread that mentality down through their seed.

As cruel as it sounds, I've always been fond of human mortality. Our lives are the length that they should be, so that each generation gets the chance to make a change, learning from the mistakes and cruelness of their parents and grandparents. So for every child who has hate indoctrinated into their core mentality, there are a few children who shake off the lies and enter into adulthood as individuals with open, unclouded eyes.

Do I believe that this world will ever be completely free of racism? No. But it can and will get much better than this with each new generation.

^^^^ Things like that explain why the US has a reputation of being. Racist nation. As just about any of our neighbor nations.

A lot of these 'patriots' talk a lot of BS, but don't realize that every Ism they hold on to is a mark against this country. Hate doesn't uplift us as a nation OR as a species. Nor do stupidity or close-mindedness.

Anyone who portrays themselves as a patriot, but also supports bigotry, racism, sexism, etc. is nothing more than a contradiction. Our definition of patriotism is so skewed, would a patriot not want to uplift the citizens of his nation? Or do you just care about the name and title, rather than the communal responsibilities that actually go with it?

The more I look at the contradictions and hypocrisies, and these hopeless cases of social/cultural ignorance, the more I understand why so many people become embittered by this species in their later years.

It's sad that a species with such beauty, diversity, and potential for greatness could still be so blind and stupid. We ARE capable of more than this. I know it. We are better than hate, if we could just move past it.

With that being said, I do understand that you cannot MAKE people change. If that's the path they've chosen, then any change will have to come when they realize where it leads. No one can force truth, nor teach an ignorant man who is not ready to learn.

It's just a sad site to see such wasted potential.

Every nation has it's issues, don't ever forget that. But America ISN'T just known for being racist against blacks, but against ALL minorities and legal/illegal foreign immigrants. It doesn't really seem to matter who you are for some strange reason. Also, take care to remember that while you call out the violence in Africa, remember that it's a small number of crime lords and that do these things.

That's like taking a look at the KKK in the US, or even the group of racists here online and saying "All white people are racist." It's not true. In fact, I believe that a majority of racism is dying off with the previous generations (I'm 22). With each new generation, our country heals from decades of hate. I'd think that most people would be happy at the sight of such psychological development, but there will ALWAYS be people who can't stomach the idea of the future, so stay wrapped up in the past. A racist is somewhat similar to the people who bashed the invention of the television, because they thought it wouldn't last -- that radio would always reign supreme.

It seems silly now, just as racists will seem ridiculous to the majority in a few generations.

Also, it absolutely annoys me that people assume that black people and Middle Eastern natives have committed the most heinous and numerous crimes. Take a look into any history book. Ask any number of people from all around the world and ask them which racial group has committed the most evils all throughout human history. You might learn something. Just about every country or continent has it's own story on the matter. Always a different evil. Usually the same group.

It's just fact. Nothing wrong with it. I don't believe that white people should be accused or vilified for the countless evils of their ancestors throughout the entirety of known history. It's just another interesting fact to present to those who insist upon vilifying others as if their own race had done no evils. As if they were the best thing since the beginning.

"He who is without sin, cast the first stone."

.... An interesting idea. We're ALL stuck on this planet, one way or another. The very LEAST we could do is try to get along with one another.

The worst part is that I'm making sense, but it's not trying to be heard at all. Whether or not anyone considers themselves a racist, at least be dignified enough to present yourself as a stellar example of a human being.

Be the best this world has to offer by keeping an open mind. That has nothing to do with your beliefs, but your whole mentality. Why on Earth would you WANT to be close-minded? That is NOT an attractive attribute in any human being. It's nothing to boast about.

I'm not trying to change your mind with any of this. I simply enjoy a good debate. I am not angry, nor do I hate you in any way, shape, or form. All are welcome to join. Just try to keep an open mind, just as I have.

I have admitted faults and pointed out positive traits in every group I've presented. I'm neither for nor against any race in particular, but adamantly against the idea that race should affect the way we treat one another as human beings.

Still, I feel as though I'm conversating to the walls, rather than to the good-hearted, honest, bold people I know you all are.:\ I don't believe that racism defines you as a person, but that it's a simple result of the appropriate environment/point in time to nurture it. I've got quite a few friends and associates that consider themselves to be racist, so I KNOW that does not define who you are, nor explain such a close-minded approach to the subject or the current debate.

If we're talking -- if we're REALLY talking -- at least be open-minded in your responses. I can hardly take someone seriously if they are too jaded to admit or even notice flaws in their own side of the argument. It's not a matter of proving you're right, but explaining to me why you think that you are, and allowing me to do the same.

We then gather the information we receive from one another, and on our own terms and in our own time, choose whether or not to tailor our opinions based on new information. Not forced. Just fed.

Does ANYONE understand what I'm getting at with that?:| Or am I in a hopeless situation here?

Every race on this planet has it's issues. As does every gender. Every group. Every person.

In fact, I believe that you can find an equal number of problems in just about every group. We all view what a "problem" is quite differently. Whats categorized as an issue could differ based on race, upbringing, culture, community, level of education, etc.

Humans in general seem to be hard wired in an "Us & Them" state of mind. As if the idea of not having a villain to this story, would be overwhelmingly outrageous. I say this in general. Not everyone is like that I'm sure. But has anyone noticed that there's ALWAYS a group we focus on, no matter what the situation? Name any point in history, and there's always been a villainous group, which we find numerous reasons to hate. Then, a few decades later, we list similar reasons to hate a different group, and so on and so forth.Often, previously despised groups join together with those who vilified them, just to vilify someone else!

Just an interesting observation. If anyone else has noticed this, I'd be interested in hearing opinions on it. I love humanity. Even in all our flaws, we are a beautiful species with limitless potential. I used to want to study psychology, but soon realized that although debating on these forums and chatting with friends about these matters is educating, I sincerely doubt I could dedicate myself to to studying humanity in this way. The sheer stupidity of it would infuriate me to the point of insanity.

So don't mistake my questions, curiosity, or possibly inflammatory statements as being anything more or less than what they are: A pure unadulterated desire to hear what you think.

I have plenty of real life experience with the good and bad of this species, as well as with every race. If you honestly don't believe that humanity has ALWAYS created an enemy, it's you that needs to do a bit more research.

At just about every point in history, and in every area, there has always been a created enemy. From witches, demons, and Nazis to rebel forces during civil wars all around the globe. Gypsies, Jews, Muslims, and even certain denominations of Christianity at some point or another. When we are not at war with one another, we are at war with ourselves. Where you to place a people of all the same race, and religious beliefs onto an island, people of different hair colors/length or height would form rival groups and begin fighting. It's a noted fact about our species.

I'm not necessarily saying that it's a bad thing. In fact, I find it quite interesting -- the lengths that we're willing to go through to feel like a community. Because nothing seems to band a group of people together like a common enemy. Few Americans are more patriotic than when we are at war. If you don't believe me, just take a look at the polls they take about patriotism around wartime and between wars. You'd be shocked.

The creation of a common enemy is the shade by which humanity bands together. And if you drew a time line from one pariah to the next, you would rarely find a time gap between them. Not long after one hate became unpopular, another would take it's place. Sometimes, certain pariahs overlapped.

Also, that liberal stuff is another example. Another "Us & Them". Our planet is littered with proof of my theory. Check it out sometime.
