This guy the article was about was a firefighter, not a transient or a migrant worker. Don't you think he would have insured his mail was forwarded properly? So what's the point of your reply other than showin us you have a lower eduction level by calling someone a derogatory name when replying to their post?

I mean if thats where the tolling enterprise got the info to sned the violations, how is their fault that someone can't update their information correctly?? Granted its not entirely fair to not work with someone, but people still need to be helt accountable if they neglect to update their information also. if more people we held accountable for stupid mistakes, perhaps the level of stupity that is grasping the counrty would be reduced. Read the opinion by Judge Galluzzo. Baird DID update his address correctly with everyone he was supposed to. The toll authority even confirmed his address change...and then they STILL managed to send the violations to an incorrect address.

I doubt very seriously that I have a lower education level, but thanks for your concern. He DID properly change his address with everyone he was supposed to. The toll authority even CONFIRMED the address change. They STILL managed to send the violations to an incorrect address. The point of my reply is that you, and others, should learn all of the facts before you make ignorant comments and assumptions.

And by "opinion," I mean the actual decision as written by the judge. I have a copy, if you'd like to borrow it.

To make the story short, they have been taken my money out (.50 cents) to my account every month around the same days, and I have never noticed until now, they won't send the copy of the citation, they claimed have a photo of the back of my car but they can't send it to me, also I got four different versions of the .50 cent violation. Sun Pass customer service is terrible, they claimed the do not make mistakes or error but by time they claimed my transponder failed I was WORKING in my office> .50 cent for a million of people every month it's a good revenue for the Florida Turnpike..... Try reading your statement once a month. DUH

TOLL ABUSE, THAT IS WHAT THE TOLL AGENCY HAS DONE. ABUSED THE CITIZENS WITH STUPID FINES AND THE LEGISLATORS WENT ALONG WITH IT. DON'T YOU SEE WHAT YOU ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES ARE DOING TO YOU? THE JUDGE DID THE RIGHT THING, NOW IT IS UP TO YOU TO STOP USING THE TOLL ROADS AND DEMAND THAT THEY BECOME "FREEWAYS". THE LEGISLATORS CAN REDUCE SPENDING AND LETS AUDIT ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS. THAT SHOULD SAVE US MILLIONS IN TAXES. REMEMBER, YOU ARE THE GOVERNMENT.

Well I've been told I have 111 violations they want me to pay for & they have taken over $800.00 SINCE Feb out of my account. I just sent them a letter showing that the same days they said we didn't pay theres money taken out at different location I guess we're all stupid for allowing this. Somebody needs to do something for us!!!! somebody help the consumer. I really believe the only way we are going to open there eyes is with a class action suit. Theres got to be an attorney out there that wants to help

The exact same thing has happened to me! I moved in October and my transponder malfunctioned 5 times in late October. They mailed them to my old address and NOTHING was forwarded. I'm also a firefighter and if I dont get this cleared up I will lose my job/career!!! The Seminole County Court told me "its business as usual for us" when I called them in regards to the ruling. This is absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!!

This is absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!! The Seminole County traffic hearing officers have copies of Judge Galluzzo's ruling, and are required to abide by it. I don't know who you spoke to with the county court, but "business as usual" could mean a lot of things. It doesn't, however, mean that they can ignore Judge Galluzzo's ruling.

HELP!! I took a trip to the Keys with my son in May of 07', went thru several tolls traveling from Oviedo. A year later when trying to renue my auto plates I found out I had seven violations outstanding. I notified epass and disputed(filing proper paperwork) still no change. I can't figure out there is several more tolls on the turnpike but the transponder chose which tolls to bite the dust on. Is there any class action suits against them and where do I sign up! Again HELP!!!!!!

Many of the people posting comments here say they too received citations even though they had an active transponder account. We're working on a follow-up story and we're interested in talking to anyone who had such an experience. You can e-mail your contact information to news@orlandosentinel.com or leave a message at 407.420.6292.

the basic problem is that we are counting non-toll booth paying as a crime and people can and do get arrested when their license is suspended and they do not know anything about it.
The toll booth authority is getting people thrown jail which is very serious and does not appear to care enough to take their end of it just a seriously.
Exceptionaly caution should be taken by them when issuing citations that can result in license suspension and jailing due to driving with a suspended license.
and yes it is a simple programming issue to match license plate number to the account. They seem to be more than happy to match the license number to the driver to issue a citation, apparently that takes precedence over anybody going to jail.

Apparently the state qulifies since that can't seem to match license plate to the license plate number in the users e-pass/toll booth account. They can match it to the DMV though and somehow issue a citatation that easily matches the license plate to the driver's license number. Some people get citations even with a working

Opinion, the Judges Opinion should not be what makes the law, he or she must look at the facts of the case and nothing else, and make a ruling based on which laws if any were broken. making a ruling on ones opinion only,(as you're making it sound) is not right in any way, shape, or form!

"Opinion" is the legal, formal term for the court's decision. That doesn't mean he rules based on his own PERSONAL opinion. And if you read the decision, you would know that he DID base the opinion on the facts of the case and the applicable law.
