Its funny how they, the Amish wont own a car or truck due to their "religion", due to the air in the tires. I WAS TOLD THIS WHEN I ASKED A AMISH MAN ABOUT IT. Yet they have no problem hiring someone to take them everywhere. I notice no one here has said anything about the corn row parties either. So the next time you want to get into a debate about someone judging, maybe you need to look a little closer in your part of the county.

You know Shadow, if you have something stolen down here in Evansville, the police are 9 out of 10 times going to tell you that there is a possibility it MIGHT turn up in a Pawn Shop. I guess them Amish own all the pawn shops in Evansville too. At least in your world.

YES the AMISH do live without ele. That is what makes them different from the Mennonites. They do however like to trade on the "Amish" way of life. The way it used to be. 20-30 years ago you hardly ever saw 'amish' in Odon except to do their business and that was usually on Saturday. Now even the 'amish' come to town everyday including Sunday to go shopping. They may not own cars or trucks, due to their 'religion', but they sure dont have a problem paying someone well to take them to larger towns to 'go tradin'. The real funny part is seeing them use plastic to pay for something. The funniest thing I ever saw was a 'amish couple' in a horse and buggy riding around Odon on a Sunday afternoon with AC/DC playing louder than most of us with cars or trucks. Oh and the song playing you might ask, HELLS BELLS. Oh and I forgot to mention the Bolo with a roach clip hanging from where a rear view mirror would be in a car or truck. Most people are fooled into believing the 'amish' are honest, or at least more honest than us devil 'english'. Next time you really want to know all about the 'amish' and their ways, ask one of them about their famed 'corn row parties'.
This is so funny because I was down there one weekend. I believe it was a Saturday. Anyhow, there was a buggy clippity clopping down the road with Joe Walsh blaring Lifes Been Good To me So Far. Didn't really seem like appropriate music for Amish, and I was AMAZED that they had stereos in their buggys. I almost fell over laughing when my aunt asked an older Amish guy if they had air conditioning in them to. He didn't laugh! Anyhow, I know a few people that live down there. They say the Amish cook more meth then anyone around. They claimed to have seen it with their own eyes. After seeing for myself how Dinkys operates I definately believe it. I mean who would exspect the Amish to be cooking and selling dope right? From my experience with them I believe they are all crooked and sneaky. I've also seen many a pole barn and metal roof that they have screwed up. My husband is in construction and has inspected some of their work after the customers were concerned it hadn't been done right....and it hadn't! If you ask me I say don't trust them any farther than you can throw them!

The Amish are no deferent then anyone else. there are good ones and bad ones, they have teens and kids we have teens and kids, They have there religion we have ours, we talk about them, they talk about us, we get a flat tire from there horse shoe nails and there horses get there feet cut from people throwing bottles out the windows, If you want to drive a horse and buggy and not have electric would you want me to rant on about you being deferent ? it is your right and none of my business why you want to. As for selling stolen stuff at Dinkey's is there a sign on it that says it is stolen ? why are we buying stolen stuff ? we know as much about it as they do. If you don't like it there, there is a simple solution just don't go there or go there see if your stuff is there and if it is just tell them they will look up who brought it and call the police and help you load it up ! If you don't see it you can just leave if you don't like it there. As long as they respect my rights and I respect there's what more can you ask.

@ George good for you sticking up for the Amish who apparently don't have Internet to take up for themselves. I agree totally none of us are perfect never will be no matter how we raise our kids to be sone will always rebel that is part of life. Get a grip people and like George said nobody asked u to go there if u dint like the place stay away. Take care of your belongings and dint make it possible fir then to be stolen.

I have to wonder how the Amish got a computer to work off of candle light and kerosene. I bet that's interesting since they dont like electrical power. I have to wonder how they found out about the internet at all. I know what the earlier post talks about having stuff stolen and then only to find it at Dinkys. Found my lawn mower and several tools that were mine there going up for bid.
I wish I had of heard about Dinky's before...2 years ago I had a rider mower and a Out-board motor stolen from my get-away...and the cops sure don't get too much involved...I'll look on internet and maybe see something...as far as Auctions go...I enjoy going to them

One of the few Amish stories I know to be true is about logging. My dad had a huge lot of trees to felled and sold and was told to contact some "good local Amish folk" for a bid. He did and they told him about 30,000 would be his profit that he had just best agree because they were the cheapest anywhere. Well it didn't seem right and he contacted 2 regular companies who both quoted him nearly 3 TIMES the profit cut they would give him.

That's excessive and I think nearly criminal costs. This happened in southern ky. About 7 yrs ago.

Do the Amish own or run Dinkys? If not how are they to blame? Plenty people, English and Amish both, frequent Dinkys.

that is my name on here because I am ashamed I ever went there and spent money, I always looke forward to the spring and fall auctions with them, until yesterday. What the hell are they doing or let me Correct that NOT DOING for their horses, For God Sakes, the ones for sale out there in the stalls are big and healty and beautiful, and many of theirs that pull the buggys there are one second away from dying, Feed, water, and take care of your Horses. SICKENING, I will never return, and I hope others take a look at them as well, and stop going, we all know they have enough money to take care of theirs animals, they chose not too. BASTARDS. ALL OF THEM. SHAME ON THEM ALL..

I have gone to Dinky's For years. I have always had a great time. As far as selling stolen stuff, I don't know. If that is true I am sure you could report it to law and they would take care of it. I will keep going to Dinky's and getting good deals. If you don't want to go ,more good deals for me (:
