how do these cameras prevent accidents? its just another way of taking money out of peoples pockets without a fight because from what i understand there is no fighting these kind of tickets once you get one. its gauranteed revenue for the county and on down the line.

TYPICAL.

First off, anyone that thinks these are about 'safety' have their head to far up their backside. IF these cameras DID not generate money, they would NOT be putting them up.

Some cities/states have put them up only to take them down after realizing the make money in the beginning then cannot even pay for their upkeep because it will take how many weeks to see these obvious cameras.

Perhaps the million dollars to install them could be used to pay the police to actually do this job...or is this not in their current contract?

While they're at it, why not install video cameras and pay additional people to sit and watch them? May as well pay to have officers sitting at every intersection waiting for violators.
A cheaper solution would be if people stopped for lights.

What's even more hoo hoo hoo is when a traveler comes to New York rents a car, and all in one day he starts in the morning witha Speeding tiket for 31 in a 25 that fails to put the excellerate sign where it belongs... Then he follows through a red light intersection which is standard in his state, then a promotional agressive driving ticket, and last but not least a Checkpoint, 3 drinks at dinner on vaction .... Welcome to Nassau County !! Did you have a nice day ???

Take the extra cost out of the kickback on every camera installed.

Are you as big an idiot as you appear? Aside from an inability to spell (accelerate, not excellerate), cops do NOT give speeding tickets for dirving 6 miles over the speed limit. As for drinking and driving, or driving through red lights, both are causes of trsffic fatalities.

Sad to say that because I love my country but does this 1 million for traffic cameras surprise anyone? We pay for the devices that are going to ticket us. SHOCKER. The real joke is that Cops are not even hanging out at the dangerous areas to issue tickets... Why you asked ??? OK, I will answer you... People tend to pay more attention at these busy conjested area's and there is no monet there... The Cops are actually giving out sucker tickets where most of the time there was'nt any real danger, just the same signal or sign that people are use to, and they cheat on it a little.... Safety no, money Yeah Yeah !!

Getting off the subject a little, I was watching this officer who arrested this Professer Gates up in Beantown, and I could'nt help but constantly hear him say every time us Officers go to work we put our jobs on the line... I was also watching the deadliest catch {Alaskan Fishing}, and man their job is on the line with every wave... I know offhand for sure how dangerous the elements truly are in that type of work... My stomach gargles when the Job you choose becomes a I want you to belive, I almost got killed today type thing... Adventerous people like mountain climbers Crab Fisherman, Pilots, Race Cars choose these types because that's who they are inside, and they say they love it.... I call on Cops to have some balls and act like men , rather than cry about the dangers, but to enjoy their line of work and just do it .... Be a man !!
