correction; Ed has done something for the investigation, 1 week after the murder he had the court seal all his and Staceys divorce records. Stacey had proven 'fault'. The reason for the breakdown in the marriage was the 17 yr record of abuse and escalation of violance.

I have read this thread. Like anyone with connections to Wolfeboro this case is of some interest. I have know JV for more than 30 years, but we are not friends. I did not know Stacey nor Ed. First point, Jim and his ex-wife seem to be the only ones willing to disclose their real names here. Jim did not run or move away from this horror show. He lives in a world where thousands of people think he is a murderous nut. Yet he has kept his head high and talks openly about this case. Second, the 20/20 pc: Ed looks like a drunk, expresses his disapproval of his wife and her child rearing. He has a filmed alibi, a lawyer, seems to have set the stage (taking the little ones away the night before Mother's day). All strange. So were JV's relationship and actions, but on TV he expresses he loved her. Given the cops can't pin this on either of them, here is my theory: Stacey was murdered by a hired hand with rubber gloves at a specified time and place with all the planning and directions coming from the only person who had the time and motive to carry out the task. He made sure he was filmed and with his best friend. She may not have died at his hand but he organized it. No way Jim could have done this in a rage and cleaned up and covered up everything in the few hours he had. Then he presents himself to the crime scene and ask the cops to investigate himself! If he accomplished all that, then he is the fastest thinking, best actor and evil genius North of Boston. Anybody agree with my theory?

I resemble that ! do you know how hard it is to cut down trees for 35 years and stay out from under them while keeping that tip away from your throat? but hey if that reasoning works for you, I'll be tupid for never. Ed on the other hand spent the weeks before the murder reschedualing his court date for non support till the day after he had been invited to attend a retirement party, getting his restraining order dropped, setting up Stacey's house, placing a car near his hotel, getting the girls out of there, filming himself dancing the jig 3 hr's before the murder 2 1/2 hrs away, driving to and from wolfeboro w/o being stopped, hiding his hockey bag w/ union suit, gloves, mask, shoes, machete, knife, somewhere on the return trip, showering and getting on schedual to pick up the girls at 8:30 at Nena's and getting to the game in Chester (he lost an hour somewhere here) just as it ended and managing to get to the wolfeboro police dept the same time his attorney did. Now that took a "skill set". It was Ed ! 100% sure of it,so is Strelzin.

Two years ago someone from Wolfeboro started organizing a march on Concord to show outrage and demand answers. When N.H. senior assistant attorney general Jeff Strelzin got word of this he contacted Stacey's brother and together they made sure no questions were answered. Well Stacey's brother lives in Texas her mother has died and it's time NOW to DEMAND answers. The A.G. has said only that this case is on going and active but last summer the lead detective named me Jim Vittum as his suspect, I would like to have Jeff Strelzin confirm that before I begin my defamation of character suit against detective Scott Gilbert. I would like to invite anyone who would like to join me on the steps of the State Capitol this coming mothersday (it's a Sunday this year) I was in the N.H. justice dept and spoke with Mr. Strelzin in November when he told me Stacey's case was "none of my business". See you in May, or I'll be there myself. jim

Our theory is Outside talent was brought in to commit this horrible crime.
A quick in and out and skill set to not leave evidence.Sadly the court of public opinion will not be swayed.

This was personal. Bobbi Miller was shot in the head! and there is a reward out.(people talk for cash)Thats a hit. Stacey was stabbed multiple times in her bed w/ 6 kids in the house, no hit man does that. And there has never been a reward for information in Stacey's case. Ed was a southy, schooled in crime. I'll bet my life on it.Not to mention Stacey told me just hours before her murder "he's up to something" she knew him better than he knew himself.

Jim V, why do you think it's not possible Ed asked one of his underworld friends to murder Stacey with instructions to carve her up and make it look (just as bad as it did)? I have know idea if he really had time to do it himself or not. The cops obviously think he could not have done this with his alibi. PS. I do not think you are stupid due to your profession nor would I presume anyone is. My point was I did not think you were capable of such a Oscar winning acting performance. I personally do not like to presume anyone dumb. When I was younger and a carpenter, college folks looked down their nose, yet I was scratching my head and was problem solving everyday. My name is Chris McLean and I hate people who hide behind fake names in forums. So happens this site does not ask you your town...therefore the odd towns in Maine listed (and changing) are not of my doing. I hope you get peace or justice in your time. I wish for only the truth to prevail. Regards.

Mortgage exec claims lawyers, state government are corrupt and covering up
January 17, 2014
Advertisement
A bright, hard-to-miss electronic sign on Amherst Street is likely catching more eyes these days, but it has nothing to do with low interest rates. The sign is being used to hurl accusations of corruption against a huge swath of New Hampshire government. "I put this (the messages) on my signs because this state is more corrupt than the people who are going to jail for organized crime," said Michael Gill , the president of The Mortgage Specialists and the owner of the sign in front of 327 Amherst St., one of four company offices. Gill said signs at his other three offices, in Manchester , Plaistow and Somersworth , bear similar messages. He programmed the signs, Gill said, because government officials "refuse to do something" and "want me to shut up. I won't shut up." The messages, in bright orange, red and blue, accuse the state Banking Department , the Attorney General's Office , the judicial systems and judges, select high-profile lawyers and "multiple politicians" of being corrupt. The sign also accuses the Banking Department of running a Ponzi scheme, the attorney general's office of a cover up and Gov. Maggie Hassan of having her "eyes closed" to the problems. Gill, who has run The Mortgage Specialists for 23 years and is considered one of the largest mortgage providers in the state, launched into state officials on Thursday when a reporter asked him about his motive for creating the accusatory messages. "The law firms are the criminals," Gill began. His sweeping indictment accuses attorneys and judges of covering up the alleged corruption he insists is widespread, and faults "the boards and committees set up to do something" for "not doing anything about it."

Chris; The lead detective said Ed's alibi was a witness in a parking lot at 1:45am 2hrs&13 mins from Wolfeboro,he also told me the time of death was 4am.the next witness siting was in Boston at 6am. This is not an alibi, it's a window of oppertunity. A half hour on either end and he's in the clear,no way he leaves that window open if he sent a hit.The last thing detective Gilbert told me was "we can't count him out". Those "underworld" types respond to $$$. There has never been any kind of reward offered in THIS case. It was Ed, 100% positive. Remember Chris I talked to Stacey that night, she said "jim,he's up to something" and in the two years before her death she told me countless times "he's going to kill me". The weird thing was she also said he would get away with it. Stacey knew Ed better than he knew himself.

When Ed was asked about why he took the girls to Stacey's mothers that night he refused to answer ? There is some kind of a hole in that alibi and when the time comes he's going to try to fill it w/ those girls. Using the victims own children and mother in the commision of her death is common practice for the milignant narcissist.Although Stacey's mom has passed away I do believe this will be his biggest mistake and ultimate undoing. As I said before , the detectives from the NH major crimes unit are the best. The delay in this case is the incompetence of the AG'S office. A little pressure would be nice ?? but hey...it's only been 5 years.

"There is nothing so uncommon as common sense" Waldo Emerson. The same small but exceedingly powerful law firm was apparently involved in both murder victims divorces, Coincidence? The supreme court professional conduct committee suspends, then reinstates the law license of Ed's lawyer 3 weeks after this murder for a violation that occurred 4 years earlier, another coincidence? Both murders remain unsolved years later despite overwhelming suspicion the ex's were the killers. Attorney general Michael Delaney effectively resigns 6 days after arresting the ex husband, his new wife and his sister in the latest murder that fits the exact same profile: contentious divorce, all 3 couples were back in court soon after their divorces were final (were they really final?), and all 3 murders occurred after the couples were divorced. Anything seem out of sorts to anyone? Now a very powerful business owner puts his reputation on the line by calling the lawyers the government (run by lawyers), and the attorney general's office (also lawyers) Corrupt and covering up. Does anyone see the connection? Or am I crazy? FYI: I went through a divorce involving the Walker & Varney law firm and I 2nd the motion this is organized crime and I'm willing to prove it in an open forum. The truth will astound.

I do believe Jen Haskel won Stacey's divorce, she PROVED fault (Ed beat Stacey on a regular basis for 17 yrs. that IS fact) I don't know anything about Bobbie Millers murder. Was Walker & Varney responsible for Ed snapping ? NO ! Ed was himself beaten on a regular basis when he was a kid. Ed was sick long before Jen Haskel got done with him. Haskel had to 1) prove the truth 2) secure Stacey's assets and 3) expose Ed's violence. Remember it was judge Pattan that denied Stacey her restraining order. Now the N.H. AG'S office is another story, they pick and chose which cases they bring on the basis of evidence. Without solid forensics, eyewitnesses and confessions they aren't interested in prosecuting. N.H. is the best state in the union to kill a spouse and get away with it. We need an AG with balls, we have polititions and polititions are cowards.

JMV: That thinking is why they get away with it and why you are still a suspect. Violation of fiduciary relationship, broken confidentiality and conspiracy to commit fraud are all listed as "serious crimes" in the code of ethics that governs lawyers behavior. It is the ethical responsibility of all lawyers to report violations of these codes. It goes so far as to warn that allowing a bad lawyer to continue to practice could have serious consequences. Jennifer Haskel proved nothing: The outcome was likely fixed just as a poker game can be fixed. Why do you think Ed's lawyer was so quick to seal the divorce records? Why do you think I haven't been arrested and charged with criminal libel? Because they were doing the same thing to me in my divorce and I can prove it. You seem like an intelligent guy but your hatred of Ed clouds your judgment. I'm not seeking to defend Ed's actions. I'm seeking to expose the truth. You'd be wise to seek the same.

You don't believe Ed was abusive? but you will consider that he may have stabbed Stacey multiple times and left her dead for her children to find.I don't know anything about your case but I was there and saw the abuse, heard the threats and even had my life threatened by Ed.I don't hate Ed. Ed Burns is a coward who lived in his own sick world with his own sick life expirences from his abusive childhood. What I didn't know was that he knew no other way out, he would tell Stacey "I don't have a choice, you have the choice, take me back and stop this madness or I'll have to kill you, the choice is yours". I underestimated him. What I should have done was take Stacey's warnings and Ed's word and believed them. Stacey needed to learn how to use a firearm and decide she wasn't going to wait for him to kill her. Stacey knew she was going to be killed, we all just sat back and let it happen.Blaming her lawyer is counter productive for me,she didn't turn Ed into a monster, his father did.

Any optimism I once had that an arrest was iminent is gone ! The recent failure of N.H. justice dept to obtain a guilty verdict in the cold case of David Mcleod speaks loudly of the incompetence of their efforts. "Murder in a small town", the tragic death of Stacey Burns is going to be published. Although it won't answer the question of who killed Stacey it will shed light on many of the questions that have led to much of the false information that circulated early on. With the exception of May 10th and Oct. 27th the 5 years that have passed has seen this story fade into the dust bin of the past. I commend the author for his courage in going forward with this book and look forward to learning what he found out.

Ever notice there are no unsolved "important" murders (police, judge, actor, politician etc) I contend that today there are no unsolved murders at all. So what designates what cases are brought to justice and what cases remain in a "box in the basement"? PRESSURE ! At one point in Stacey's case there was an attempt to build pressure, gather strength, march defiantly to the state house and demand answers. That never happened ! The attorney general and Michael Keane co-opted the event and instead faux outrage reversed pressure and it turned out to be a harmless gathering of concerned friends who for their efforts were met by some nobody who claimed because he had been through a similar thing in his life knew what they were feeling. No one of importance was confronted, no questions were even asked. NOW at 5 years it's over, this case is safely dust covered and in it's final resting place in the basement of the N.H. justice dept. building alongside 128 others. This case not only will never see the light of day but it CAN'T ever see the light of day. Who is hiding something is a good question.

And one day It will all come out someone will answer to God. I hope these kids get the healing and therapy needed
