Today evening a 50 pound white dog with long hair attacked and bit
our small dog and injured her really bad at the park. This dog was
not on a leash and was with a small girl about 10 years old. The girl
ran away soon after the incident with her dog.
Our dog had to be stitched up and was given pain
medication/antibiotics.
Any help to identify the dog owner will be a greatly appreciated. We need to find out if:
1.The dog's shots were up to date to ensure that we get the right
treatment for my dog.
2.Ensure that the owners of the dog do not let the dog out in public
without a leash, since we have small kids who play at the park.
3.Ensure that the dog is always on a leash with a responsible adult
and not a 10 year old girl who is not able to handle the dog.

Yes I did. The Police said it is an animal control issue, the animal control says I need to get the address of the dog owner, hence this post..

Hi
I saw your sign at the park, and also witnessed the incident. Unfortunately, your small dog was the one not on a leash, and was the aggressor. I saw the white dog run over to the small dog and they appeared to begin to play. The little girl came over to get her dog (which had a leash dangling from its collar). The dogs then began to fight. A man came over and yelled, the little girl grabbed the leash and the older man picked up the small dog. The small dog did not seem hurt at that point. It appeared much less severe than your flyer describes. It appeared your dog was ok, as she walked away w/the older man.

Its sad that people like you try to change facts. All I am tring do do here is protect our kids (and you a mom of four should see that) from this dog and incedents like this.
I have 20 people who told me the details in my post. My dog was going on a walk was on the road near the park. My dog has bites, My FIL has cuts from the leash as it was pulled from him when the dog attacked. The old man did not walk away with the dog as the dog was very scared and in pain. I had to come and get her in the van and had to take her straight to the vet. If you say you were there, why did you not see that ? If my dog was the agressor, then I am sure the other dog has wounds too?

If my dog was okay why did the vet put so many drains on her ? have to give her anestesia and put her on morphene for pain? If you say you saw my flyer then you must have seen the pictures of my dog too. If pictures are a lie, call me and come see my dog - the flyer has my number.

Please don't take offense. I saw what I saw. If your dog was on a leash, it was not appearant to me - even as your dog ran and hid under a SUV after the incident and the older man tried to get it there was no leash evident. I am truly sorry for your misfortune. I only offered the facts as they apeared to me, and I did see a leash dangle from the other dog's collar. I do hope your dog and the other dog are ok.

11/6/07 - Our dog was just attacked today (around 4pm) by a medium white dog (short hair) named "SNOW", the dog was without a leash at the San Ramon Sports Park - we think it may be the same dog that attacked your dog. The dog was with a german shepard (also without a leash). The mother and three children chased the white dog to keep it from attacking the 2nd time. I ran with 4 small children to get away from the dog. We have a small white dog also and have reported it.

All we want is a safe park for our dog and children to play - We just want the dogs on a leash, that's all.

Dogs off leashes are way out of control in San Ramon parks. I can see that the park rules state that all animals must be on a leash, however, dog owners are not following this rule! I frequently take 2-4 children (under age of 4) to Mill Creek Park as well as to Memorial Park and am 7 of 10 times this month having to ask the dog owners to abide by the leash law. I can't believe that I actually have to ask owners to put a leash on their dogs at Memorial Park since there is a dog run area in which their pets can run freely at this particular park. I want to start a major leash campaign before there is a mauling or death. I will be hounding the newspapers to get this started! I am angry!

You are very right. We should write to animal control activists and police to start ticketing the dog owners who leave the dogs unleashed in public places like parks and side walks. I am tired of telling dog owners to leash their dogs.

This is just a little FYI. How do u know "LUM" is from Oakland? FYI The blue font is the location of your I.S.P. so u cant say he or she is from Oakland, for all you know she is from San Ramon. My I.S.P. is located in San Fransisco but i live in San Ramon. I am going to explain to you what ISP means It stands for Internet Service Provider. And just so you know not all of Oakland is ghetto as you said. Next time do a little bit more research before you open your mouth that way you don't make yourself look ignorant

Hi
I took my dog to the vet today. There was one other customer there at the time. It happened to be my neighbor [whom I don't know]. What was to be a minor vet event turned ugly. The other owners dog came running out of the back [whippet/pitbull] and attacked my dog [bison/shitzu]. It was a terrifying experience to say the least. Now not only was Jake to be treated for his anal gland, but now has puntures and bruising from that dog. The responsibility is the vet. This is not my vet, but it was sunday so he got my business. Never again!! I am pissed though. If I took my son [who's 5 yrs old] out and he got beaten by another child, someone would pay!! Any ideas what I can do?

If you folks from the third world can't get it that we Americans love dogs and that's it,. then you need to go HOME.... Assimilate or go back! I know things are different back there, but here in America things are different. Don't force your fears on us.'Nuff said.

To fed upwith it ... sure you go home ... or assimilate to the law of the land ..I mean the US of America. You didn't know the leash law is made for animal like dogs and it is an American law not a third world country.. I wonder where you came from ??

If you really love your dog protect it and protect other dogs let alone humans -:)

All San Ramon parks and public areas (unless otherwise posted) require that animals be restrained (i.e. leashed or controlled by other means) at all times. It's amazing that some people cannot grasp this, as a dog charged one of our kids on a public street. The owner would not give-up her address, but I will find her [you if you read this]. Leash your dog - the law is for a reason and I hope the moron is reading this; I promise to find and report you.

Really folks....get a grip. We do not need any more laws!!! We do not need leashes....we need to be RESPONSIBLE for ourselves and everything that is a part of our lives....including children. There nothing more maddening than minding my own business with my dog, when someone's errant, unsupervised, unleashed child totters over to reach into his/her face with total abandon as the parent spaces out into never/never land. Now, who would be liable here? Oh, no, not the irresponsible parent. Let's all corral our dogs, kids, etc. that are not well behaved and be RESPONSIBLE.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Cancer

If you have children at home they'll be really playful today and quite a handful at times. Encourage them to burn off all their energy during the day otherwise it will be a case of tears before bedtime. There could also be a fractious atmosphere between you and a loved one, and this will quickly escalate into a row if you aren't careful.
