Only the artsy stuff. Riiiight. Let's see, they help pay for the libraries, help with in classroom efforts, help with phys ed related, etc. But beyond that & far more important is that really there is nothing more important than ensuring we keep the artsy stuff as that is core to well rounded children. Studies have shown that over and over, but unfortunately in our F'ed up American scoiety we have focused on having the best scores and testing everybody and math, science, writing only. Talk about the wrong way to play catch-up. Aristotle would be so disappointed.

Kiddo wrote: <quoted text> Kiddo uses intimadation tactics. They list on their websites people's name and the amount of their contribution by donation levels. They want you to feel bad and make you feel guilty by listing everybody by donation levels. Trust me, I don't love that reality and am far from a Kiddo insider. That said, as someone with children in the system, I am glad they exist. Do you know how much the state budget provides per student, per year, for the libraries at the elem school campuses?? a buck seventy.$1.70. Like it or not, Kiddo helps out a lot & I was bringing them up mainly because of the comment that Marin families should be paying to make up the deficit - we already are, scare tactics or not.

curious wrote: I can never tell: does "organic" mean small, bruised or expensive? Went once to the Novato store. Hard to park, dingy inside, lousy produce and tired looking fish. Won't be back. Are you crazy? That is the nicest Whole Foods around! I'm sick of all the mudslinging about Novato. We moved from Mill Valley to Novato in 1990 to start a family and I'm really glad we did. So many "Southern Marin" snobs out there!

I think this store will be a great addition to Mill Valley. I hope they will carry bison steaks as some Whole Foods stores do.

I shop at whole paycheck because there because that is where my bank is located and one stop shopping will save time and energy and I don't have to leave Mill Valley proper and I can afford it because I won't pay the big corporations medical insurance. I avoid the state route like the plague or flu shots. I am selective at what I buy at whole paycheck. I prefer TJ's for many items. I don't know why the Independent Urinal made such a big deal about this. I still don't understand why these realtors mention condos along with real houses. They are as differnt as night and day. A condo is a high density thin shared wall apartment that one must take out a loan to pay the rent plus interest for 30 years in advance. Plus they have to pay rent to the owners of the building for maintenance. If you want to live in one of those move to Novato which is technically in the north bay but Mill Valley is central bay. I know all about poison, I know all about fiery darts, I don't care how rough the road is, show me where it starts, Whatever pleases You, tell it to my heart. Bob Dylan

Better yet, go to your local Whole Foods and read the back of the packages - or even better - check out this doc that was obtained by a local news station http://www.acc-tv.com/images/wjla/news/iteamw... LMAO...gotta love an angry 'proud' mama calling me a moron for insulting people! Think about what you just said. Did we strike a nerve, mama?::headpat:: it's okay mama... take your medication, get some sleep, you'll feel better in the morning. Well, you probably WON'T, but one can only hope.

Baby Jesus says, do not shop there! God bless! It amazes me how little Whole Foods compensates their workers. It's expensive to live in Marin so their wages are hardly sustainable. Health benefits don't kick in for many many months and the deductible is high. The only way to get decent benefits and pay is to stay there and toil away in menial hard labor for years and years. It could explain why some of the workers in the back don't even speak English. So when you go to Whole Foods, please be nice to the workers. They have it tough as they're all being exploited because of the weak job market. Some are left with no other choice.

I highly anticipated the opening, found it initially disappointing, and now am liking it. The parking is not as bad as I had anticipated. I love the cooked food sections and ability to eat in their calm tucked away corner cafe seating. There is always a fast easy healthy meal ready to be pieced together inexpensively. It's convenient having it near my p.o. box and bank, and all only a few blocks from home. I do think they need to do something about the entrance to the center though. I think it is very dangerous.

Whole Foods operates with a culture of Hyperbole and deciet. I work for them and they are horrible to work for. If they are so honest? How come they have tens of thousands of lawsuits against them for their deciet?
