Maybe you could also ask if the person had training in this field? There are many people who want to help but this takes 'special' education and training to deal with Alzheimer's patients and investigate thoroughly to make sure the person who takes care of this Alzheimer's patient KNOW HOW and WHAT TO DO and I think this should require special training for both family and caregiver.

A huge wave of aging boomer's are on the way. Thanks in part to all the drug use during their twenties, as well as poor diet and genetics, many will contract Alzheimer's. Drinking, smoking, most recreational drugs, and bad diets tends to accelerate Alzheimer's.
Forget "trained" professionals. There won't be enough mexicans to deal with the onslaught unless we opened the borders completely. And even then, since so many boomer's didn't put anything aside for retirement, let alone medical emergencies, the state will be forced to deal with them. Literally millions of them, since family members won't want to deal, once their Alzheimer's mom or dad starts screaming and swinging on them for no reason, peeing the bed every single night, and taking walks at 3 in the morning. Kind of hard to hold a job, and take care of a broke Alzheimer Mom.
We'll have managed care warehouses, meaning the Alzheimer's patients will be drugged into staying in bed for the day, and get meals fed to them thru a straw.
Forget trained professionals. Your caregiver, if she speaks english, will get trained by google search, if you're lucky. The country is going to turn into a mini madhouse.
Don't even start discussing state run managed care as something you recognize. It will be bare minimum, if you can get a bed.

I think you are right. Long Beach is home to one of the State's most radical of the unbelievably wastefully expensive taxpayer funded university system. During the revolution, it was always the dream of the brain addled revolutionaries *(now in power)* to require the minority of Californians who pay taxes to supply them with "free" pot while they waste their time - and hard earned taxpayer money - as university "professors". Many of today's local ruling political class who hold Government "degrees" received their revolutionary training right here in Long Beach.

As you probably know, tobacco use tends to increase mental acuity. Thus, tobacco use has a prophylactic effect that guards against senility and Alzheimer's related dementia - the opposite effect from mind rotting pot use. This beneficial effect is conferred upon the user during his entire lifetime.

As the Government revolutionary rulers succeed more and more in their "tax and control related" - war against decent clear headed women and men who smoke tobacco, "the stupid effect" will become more and more noticeable among pot smokers and former pot smokers. This is because the pot-related condition of loosened synapse of the brain's ganglia is an irreversible condition.

my friend ,82 years old, unsteady gait, applied for "dial-a Lift-Long Beach. You will get a ride but you have to stay at the curve and wait up to 30 or more minutes for the ride. Then they let you out around the hospital or doctors place. You are all alone from there on. This person I mentioned gave up. Has nobody for a ride, is afraid to be alone with a taxidriver(with all the crazy people around here). I don,t drive anymore.

Your friend's lifestyle is Club Med compared to what the boomers are in for. Our welfare system is set up for the poor to propagate, while it penalizes the middle-class into social and numerical irrelevance. When that process has completed itself, then you have what most other third world countries have: the rich and the poor. Except this time the poor population will increase like never before, and that's when, historically, the sh*t hits the fan for anyone not rich. Los Angeles will look and work more like Rio De Janiro. Rich enclaves with high fences for whites, the wild wild west for minorities and poor whites.
More and more I'm seeing cars in my grocery store parking lot with women sitting in them, and their obvious worldly possessions crammed in the back seat, the passenger seat made into a makeshift bed. Not just my grocery store parking lot, but in many other places around the city. I've never seen so many homeless women living in cars-ever. These women aren't druggies. Some are in SUV's. These are 50-something year old women who look like they just ran out of money. A few have dogs, and even cats in the back seat. I don't know what they're gonna do with them when the heat hits this month. Just awful. Today, a middle-aged woman and a teen-aged girl stopped me in the store parking lot asking me for $5 to get gas for their car which was parked there with all kinds of odds and ends in the back seat. They weren't druggies. They were jobless and desperate and didn't know how to work the welfare system.
Anyway, it's going to get a little worse each year as the boomers lean on social security because they have no savings. Many will get Alzheimer's and start wandering the streets because they have no one.
The numbers will get so large, they'll have to warehouse them somewhere, and keep them sedated, until enough social pressure grows so that we can enact legislation to put them down legally and with compassion.
One might say, "that could never happen here," but then ask yourself if you thought your country could turn into what it is now, 30 years ago.
We are in deep sh*t, and it's going to get alot worse. Don't have kids if you can help it. You'll regret it, and so will the kids.
Game Over.

What a shame that no one really cares about the treatment of patients who need real this medical care. I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone in your family.

The Mad Man.

As a matter based purely on moral grounds, you are absolutely right. The problem is that, as a practical matter, the failed social and economic policies of Big Government no longer allow the minority of Americans who pay taxes to care for the most deserving amongst us.

Before the revolution, one seldom saw a destitute White woman "on the street".*(so to speak") Then, the 60s 70s revolutionaries who had seized control of taxpayer funded academia and Big Government - along with their Government licensed media shills - embarked on a revolutionary campaign to "create equality". The cry from the media contemptuously derided the White worker *("middle")* class housewife as one who was in need of being "liberated". Revolutionary economic policy resulted in her being booted out of her modest - but cozy - home - while at the same time trading her loving husband for a Government controlled boss. The cry from Big Government's media shills was "Grass or A*ss, everyone must pay!"

Obama has a good point when he says the failed Obama economy came into being through the efforts of the "two" political parties vying with one another to see which could implement revolutionary social policies in order to get the swing Thug vote - an important consideration in a "democracy" when the sides are otherwise equally divided.

The scheme that caused the whole deck of cards to fall down was when Big Government used economic means in order to further revolutionary aims. Chief among those failed schemes was the revolutionary scheme to destroy homogenous housing patterns by moving Thug people into theretofore peaceful neighborhoods.

As the "two" revolutionary political parties escalate the transfer of the remaining hard earned modest "wealth" to the Thug people, there will be less and less ability of the minority of Americans who pay taxes to care for destitute White women, the elderly, the sick, and the infirm. It is a shame. Perhaps it even constitutes crimes against humanity.

It's not that they don't care. It's just that there will be too many people to treat, and not enough human resources to deal with them. Boomers have been alerted to this for the last 20 years and they didn't do much besides go on AIDs walks to get more money to treat a preventable disease. Now they're facing a sometimes non-preventable disease, with relatively little funding all these years. So, if I tell you you're walking on a train track for 20 years, and you just keep walking on the track and finally get hit by a train, should I really feel sorry for you? I hope not. You think gays are going to march for Alzheimer's? No.

Good point. Ever since the 60s 70s revolutionaries took control of Government they have increased the cost of medical care by providing - under penalty of revolutionary LAW - "free" AIDS related treatments and drugs, unnecessary, and often dangerous - but very profitable - woman's medical "care", and by other means. It has gotten so bad that the minority of Americans who still pay taxes are so overburdened by soaring politically motivated cost that they can hardly afford to pay for Government controlled medical insurance for themselves and their families.

A good example of the failure of medical related "junk" "science" is revolutionary's war against decent tobacco smokers, a war that has been waged for purposes of increased Government taxation and control, often into areas that have absolutely no connection to tobacco use. The only result of that war against Government's own people is the increased incidence of Alzheimer's related dementia that is being found among the non-smoker population, along with a soaring death rate that is now afflicting the non-tobacco smoker community.

I am just glad my parents are dead and I don't have to deal with this. I pity the family that has to go through this and have no one to trust!

Uh... newsflash... That's why people get married and have kids. So they don't have to die alone. Otherwise, why in hell would any man in his right mind sign a marriage contract? If single americans could easily and cheaply adopt a healthy blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy or girl from sweden, marriages in this country would plummet.
