Wow. Whoever's talking this way is really embarassing we good citizens of Vallejo who want nothing more than to be proud of our police force, but comments like this one (below) make all cops look out-of-control, impulsive, immature, reactive and just plain bad. Rogue is the word. Being so proud of further victimization of a young victim...really? Personally, I don't give a crap if he was an ex-con - he called you for help. Should he have taken matters into his own hands again? Perhaps he learned his lessons from the past run-ins with police and tried to be on the "right" side of the law this time - and look what happened. Now you just have one more person who doesn't trust the police. Who does that benefit? No one! Do you need more haters in town? Think about it and stop being so damn defensive. I'm amazed. This significantly lowers the bar for this whole town if you think beyond your hateful defensiveness. Restraint is key, but then, obviously that's something that is not taught nor encouraged in modern police practice.

Someone needs to fire you - you are insane and should never work in a position of authority over ANYone..EVER! You scare the crap out of me and I AM a "good" citizen! God forbid I should resemble someone you've made up your mind about and have a run-in. I expect you'd be the only one walking away unharmed. You're a madman with too much power. Like Manson or Hitler or Jim Jones. I venture to surmise that your job has gotten to you and soured you toward people in general. That black/white, right/wrong, good/bad mentality just doesn't work in a civilized society - which is what we expect. Please lead by example so our young people can look up to you. How can I teach my child to respect you if you won't act respectably, let along respectfully of we citizens? Hopefully this kind suggestion doesn't put me on your list, too.

Vallejo had a cop who thought he was a tough guy, Grissle. Cost the city 4 million. How many more of those can Vallejo afford?

I don't know much more about this than most people so the only thing I take away from it is DON'T AGGRESIVELY STEP UP AND CONFRONT A POLICE OFFICER, no matter WHO you are.

the citizens of vallejo are the ones in trouble. more police are leaving and the interest to work here is predominantly from entry level, inexperienced or newly graduated officers. now keen's bi-weekly report is tossing out new numbers. "approximately 150" applications? 50 minimally qualified? 11 respondents to interview? we need a line item breakdown from h.r.
"approximately"? last report it was 162 respondents, this one is approximately 150! what else is he guessing at? this guy is total loser, and safely in another city for the weekend!

his email to garman indicated 162 applications, a firm number, and 18 rated as qualified. now we have "approximately" 150 and new numbers of qualified, yet you are still obsessed and fixated on what sam said?

The "new chief" is not well liked in the department and will be here only long enough to set up retirement benefits, then he'll bail; this is the WAY it's done in Vallejo (1 year). The old chief's retiring salary was $186,000 a year while the new cheif's salary is $249,000; this is what you get when your good buddy whom you worked with in Marin is the city manager Keen.
As far as Darden goes, there's not one person in ten who would criticize his actions; WE need more like him

Did you do a scientific poll or just talk to yourself. Kriens is not liked by the Cowboys and rouges. Most of the department is happy to have him as their new chief. Nichielini was a disater.

Nine in ten want Darden fired. Get your facts straight. His actions were totally inappropiate.
