Its this type of stupid thug thinking that needs to be eliminated from the VPD.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. Sometimes a job isnt very pretty.

Yeah there are some heroes in the VPD alright.

It became public information when Darden uploaded it on Youtube to pass it around to the people he worked with. That was the beginning of the internal leak. He obviously thought it was something to be proud of. I'm wondering how many more videos are floating around as insider jokes on how police treat the public?

Hope the PD polygraphs every employee to find who is the leaker. Regardless of what you think of Darden or the situation, we have a police employee, or volunteer maybe, that released internal records without authority. This is a matter of trust that was breached.
Personally for me, it was refreshing to see this loud mouth beater of old men decked by Darden.

Lets see if I got this correct. Darden exhibited abusive behavior that was documented on his camera. The behavior was glossed over inside the VPD. Darden has a reputation for being abusive. But you want to punish the person who exposed it.

Thats why Police oversight is needed. Your sense of right and wrong is all screwed up. You protect your own at the expense of the public.

Could be why Darden was passed over for promotion. Yeah, playing tough guy has it's advantages. Like being left as a patrol man and not moving up in rank.

If they let us bitch slap people perhaps it would save the taxpayers money. If it weren't for these stupid cameras' we could have put a pellet gun in his hand and saved the taxpayers money. This guy will be in and out of jail , so why not end it now.

He was cute though.

To think Darden is the one that shared this, thinking it would not go out of his circle of friends shows a high level of stupidity.

After viewing the news story last night itís clear to me officer Darden saved this young manís life. Prior to police arriving roommates kicked the young man out of his apartment due to excessive cigarette smoking. They were tired of constantly being exposed to second hand smoke. On arrival officers observed the young man standing in the parking lot, smoking heavily, and experiencing severe respiratory problems. The young man was also suffering from a nicotine induced psychosis as he rambled on incoherently about some sort of imaginary time warp. Officer Darden recognized this as a medical emergency and quickly jumped into action by initiating first aid. The officer carefully lowered the man to the pavement and placed his right hand behind his neck to make sure the young man didnít strike his head on the way down. Officer Darden could smell the strong odor of toxic menthol laced nicotine emitting from the young manís lungs. The officer then performed chest compressions by placing his knee on the young manís chest and forcing the toxic cigarette smoke out of his lungs. The results were miraculous. I clearly heard the young man say ďThank you officer Darden I can breath now!Ē Officer Darden you are a life saver. Donít stop doing what youíre doing because we need more of you on the street.

These kinds of tactics are why the Oakland PD is under federal monitoring. Yeah, keep cheering bad behavior. Maybe you can go hold Darden's hand and console him for not being promoted. Obviously the new Chief doesn't agree with you and for good reason. I also am curious about his policy on pd employess blogging on the internet. Maybe Burky can ask that at the next council meeting.
