I missed this editorial. Too bad, I would've spoken up sooner. I've been reading the letters and articles in the paper and Bill Currie, Father Gene, and the others have valid and well considered points. I don't want this in my neighborhood because I don't want to look at it. I want to look at the mountains. I want to keep this area rural and open.I'm not interested in commercial development here, whether it's a Mosque or the Math Institute fashioned after the Alhambra castle. I don't agree with you that Don Gage has done his job, he's once again managed to dump an unwanted and contraversial eyesore on San Martin because we don't have a governing body to protect the residents. If this is such a great opportunity, why not build it in Morgan Hill or Gilroy? I find it odd that a Mosque is being planned in area where there is little political muscle to prevent it from happening.
I also find it peculiar that no one from the Muslim community has stepped forward in print to explain to the residents of San Martin why this is so wonderful for San Martin? Is the moderate Muslim as fearful of the radicals as we south county "yahoos" are?
