Don't you just love the cops and courts?
Same old thing day after day!
I think today will be my last day of reading it...it's such a downer.
Break the law, rinse, repeat.

LOL, Suprised. The racists are still sleeping.
DAMN, that's a lot of blow! I always carry my pounds of cocaine in the back seat of my car.
That stuff should be sold at the pharmacy, not a parked car.

do I really have to pay for medical treatment for gang bangers hurting each other? The tax payer extends their pathetic existence so they can bang another day? We are getting really soft, what do you think our forefathers would say?

I'm glad Gray will stay in - being drunk is no excuse for killing anyone. We used to call Mr. Lopez "Baba Ah Rum". He was very gentle and never harassed people the way bums do today, he simply sat with his begging bowl and would disappear as soon as he had collected enough for a bottle of rum.

Yup same ol' thing every day. Crime, Drugs, Transients and DUMB gang bangers......
Sick of it!
We need a Rambo like head of this community that will actually crack down on all this! Really put down the screws on these idiots! Prevent it happening in the first place by making our town undesirable for the dirt bags to come and visit and cause trouble. Make them think twice and realize Santa Cruz won't put up with anything.
When can we start!!!

LMAO Jaydog yeah it's good to have a kilo of blow with you at all times in the glovebox or on the seat, it's not a felony or anything like that. I usually tape my kilos to the hood of my car.

If the city council, police and judges don’t start doing something about all this, I am afraid we are going to start to see vigilantism like we did in the 80's with the troll busters. Several people have commented on it in forums in the past.

I hope they deport all illegal gang members. Which I doubt they do!

To add to the "troll busters" reference, it's not always safe to do so by yourself. I had the pleasure of two "trolls" smoking crack outside my Westside bedroom window yesterday afternoon, fighting over the last hit, claiming "I put 20 on it!" While I'd like to hollar at them, it's simply unsafe. I guess if they're not hurting me, let them hurt themselves. I wouldn't risk my personal safety, especially as a woman, to confront them. Vigilantes might just need to call the police and let them deal with it as they are trained to do.

It is a lot of the same stuff, but what is different is that the cops have been doing a great job this week actually making arrests. When I see "No Arrests Made", I am more concerned. Let's keep the focus on the violent felons rather than kids skating or people smoking a bowl.

The Mayor should REALLY educate himself... It's the District Attorneys Office that drops the ball and gives offenders endless chances at rehabilitation... Sometimes 5+ drug offenses before they EVER see ANY jail time!

No one should never see any jailtime for a non violent "drug offense" like simple possesion.
Its krap like that which makes people like me so disgruntled with the law that I turn a blind eye to almost every other illegal thing I see. I will never narc. If I have problem Ill take care of it myself cause I know if i call cops they will find reason to look more closely at me or my friends. So you have fun wishing for drug offenders to be locked up for a personal choice they make, but know if I see you get jumped or robbed I will just laught and walk the other way. LEGALIZE FREEDOM! KEEP YOU LAWS OFF ME!

You know, I can't decide who makes me madder: the gangs and their violence, or the transients and their utter disrespect for this community. Having just paid $2600 for half a year of property taxes, seeing all those bums in the parks really get my goat. Then again, they're sitting next to a bunch of gang graffiti, and that gets my goat, too.

LAWZOFFME, You are a very confused individual. Perhaps you should stop exercising you illegal right to use drugs. I think it is clouding your thinking.

LocalMom, Why try to choose which one you dislike the most? They are both ills of society that should not be tolerated.

The beauty of this forum is that it lets people express themselves. If you look at the posts, most people generally agree on the issues. Most people want something done about the gang issue. Most people want something done about the homeless issue. Most people want something done about the immigration issue. The differences are generally how to deal with the issues. I agree all these issues need to be dealt with.

If everyone who posts here would simple cut and paste and send a copy to our local elected officials I think things would get done. This forum is a great thing, because it allows you to post a comment anonymously and see what people think of your opinion without any real threat of public backlash. I know there are people posting racist comments and hiding behind a phony name and there is nothing you can really do about it. On the other hand, when the local business community spoke out at city council meetings about the problems down on the mall, there was a certain amount of backlash and vandalism against their businesses.
Therefore, I believe if you can build enough momentum on this forum of people who want a change, then change will happen.

So how do you think it works????

You kid, whom you just love to bits, your baby, your dreams of hope, turns about 15 years old and starts leaving the house in the mornings with super loose pants hanging down to his balls, and a baseball cap on sideways, says see ya Dad, I'm going to meet up with my buddies to play some ball today. Maybe down at the Rec Center. Have a great day.
I don't know the answers, but I can say one thing, I would rather kick his ass right there on the spot, than have him go out and shoot someone today, or get shot.
The question is where are the parents?
