Oh good! There's too many damned drunks in this town. Look around you, nothing but barflies, as far as the eye can see.

Yep it's becoming ridiculous. Bars and man camps at the bars. 123 is dangerous. You can't even go grocery shopping on the weekend all the workers buying beer, wine, cigs, and BBQ

I understand it's good for the local economy. But damn! How about having some decency and self-respect San Marcos!

So true. We moved here from Tyler and my husband works in the old field but I never seen anything like it down here. Went down the river a couple of weeks ago during the week so it wasn't too bad. We don't drink either. They were here working on the water well the guy told me one night they had 8 fights at the bar on 123. All workers. That's sad.

Our city council and planers should be ashamed of themselves for allowing San Marcos to decline in the manner that it has the past several years, until now.
There's too many bars, and every time they build a new park, it's the drunks who invade them and take over them! You can make a day of driving around and counting all the bars here in town, it's just stupid, it's not a form of positive revenue in my book. It only contributes to the growing problems that drunken rowdiness, and drinking and driving fatalities that are brought upon the decent law abiding people of this town.
And in closing, No, I don't drink either. Never have, never will. Just because almost everyone else in town is a drunk, doesn't mean I should be branded as one myself!

This town is and always will be a college city. If you live in san marcos, not a college kid and you are complaining about bars and drinking on the river which has been going on from when time was time then move. It is that simple! San marcos doesn't have room for geriatric folks. San marcos isnt a rest home. I drank on the river responsibly tubing with friends many years ago and enjoyed it. Now that it is banned by idiots who do not know why the river is so popular with the young crowd and tourism, now they will see a decline in people visting from austin (which they do) and san antonio and any other place that knows its a fun environment. It is usually morons who are in city council or other higher places that move here from other states or cities trying to make it like their failed city they left. Just like they did in Austin with their gay san francisco "plastic bag ban" that the migrated Californians put into effect there.
