Scam calls in San Lorenzo

Hi, I moved to San Lorenzo about 2 years ago and this afternoon I received a phone call from a man named Ron Mackey who identified himself as belonging to the San Lorenzo Police and was looking for my father. He knew my father's name so I asked what the call was about...
He then proceeded to sell me tickets to the San Lorenzo Annual Family Variety Show sponsored by the Oakland and San Lorenzo Police Depts. which would benefit the city's police program and other less fortunate children as well.
He explained that tickets would be mailed to me and I would have to mail him a cheque back. He seemed very convincing, even saying that this program has been around for 30 years.
However, when I asked for a website, a return tel# or an address where I can personally pick up the tickets- he declined to give me any information.
I am posting this to warn other residents to be careful about calls like these, clearly a scam!
