Legalize and tax marijuana. That would fill the budget gap and keep the teachers. It's estimated you could collect over 1 billion in taxes. Think about it, it is California's biggest cash crop!

All of this hassle to save a sticking $8 billion - chump change compared to the trillions we have spent in Iraq, on corporate subsidies and bank rescues. If the government could just get back a fraction of that, we could avoid all of this needless turmoil.

All this talk of laying off of civil servants serving us is very good news. I hope it is for real and not just another ploy to manipulate as much Obama bail out money their way as they can get.

You really have to congratulate teachers to stick with their job that they have devoted years of study to and thousands of $$$ to pay for, only to be rewarded with the yearly ritual to be told they are expendable. To not know from year to year if you are still employed is a huge stress factor. It's not like teachers can just keep an emergency job on the back burner to go to if teaching doesn't work out this year. It's time we had a program in place to retain talent at the schools. I wonder how many of our children will become educators in the future when they are witnessing such disrespectful behavior toward their current teachers, actually witnessing the pink slip being given to their teacher right in front of them. Way to go politicians.

This makes me so mad. I see the government throwing around cash to save overindulged corporate ceo's, etc. I dont see these guys getting rid of any of their 8 mansions, personal jets, 50 cars, etc. but the government is bailing them out at the expense of the childrens education? What has happened to our Country? Its more important now to be overindulgent than to help your fellow man. A manipulative, self centered society asked for this and got it, congrats. Thank you Paris Hiltons of the USA, you make me want to vomit.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Sagittarius

You still prefer to be in a world of your own, in which nothing nasty is happening, but at least you're feeling a little more realistic than you were yesterday. It's a perfect day for visiting somewhere beautiful, peaceful or relaxing, or for going to the cinema or an art gallery. But it will be difficult to get up the energy for any prolonged Christmas shopping.
