Questions San Leandro's Mayor’s Stance on Gay Marriage

Editor:

According to the San Leandro Times, Mayor Stephen Cassidy participated in a Mayors for Marriage Conference during the Washington D.C. Conference of Mayors. The question that comes up is: Who gave Mayor Cassidy a mandate to take that stance?

The Califonia voters rejected gay marriage at the ballot box. As a matter of fact, gay marriage propositions have been defeated in every single state that put the issue on the ballot. It is legislatures and the courts who’ve passed laws contrary to the will of the people, mostly, to divert the attention from the fact that they can’t provide anything in the economic front but more cuts on services and higher unemployment.

It is Cassidy, Villarraigosa, Jerry Brown, Kamala Harris, John Pérez, Mark Leno, Tom Ammiano and the like who are subverting the laws passed by the people. Mary Hayashi fits well into this Democratic Party gang. The working class will always reject the degenerations of nature that theaten humanity.

Let’s remind these scofflaws and their neomalthusian allies in the next elections that in California, at the polls, the majority of us said: yes on 8.

The courts will be the final authority on this issue as they have been so far. Most likely the U.S. Supreme Court will eventually decide this one. You have to understand that people can't vote to overturn the provisions of the U.S. Constitution...and that's a good thing I think. Otherwise the majority would have way too much power over the minority and I'm not talking about ANY minority, not just racial of sexual preference ones. A measure doesn't have to pass Constitutional muster to get on the ballot so a legal review is definitely in order I think. I'm not taking sides at all but BOTH sides will have to live and abide by whatever (most likely) the Supreme Court decides in this and every other challenge to a referrendum vote by the people.

So Why did the people in California have to vote?(twice) Then since it didn't go way of the Gay's. They call it unconstitutional. Are votes mealiness now? Why bother voting then?

Did you even attempt to understand what I said in the previous posts? Almost ANYTHING can get on our state ballot thanks to the referendum process we have in place. That still doesn't give us the right to approve things that are unconstitutional or violate the rights of others. That's why the courts have to get to involved, sometimes all the way up to the Supreme Court to decide the issue. That's really the way it should be or a majority of people would be able to tramp on the rights of ANY minority.

From your past racist posts I know that you'd like to vote to keep ALL black people, at least all Section 8 people, out of San Leandro or maybe even out of California but you probably wouldn't be too thrilled if the blacks, Hispanics and Asians got together and voted to keep all white people out of San Leandro or California. Then you would be applauding and appreciating the court system for defending your rights and overturning the rule of the new majority.

Saying your vote is meaningless is nonsense. You can vote for anything you want and in most cases the vote of the majority will rule. There are very few court challenges to the will of the people but most rational people think a system of checks and balances via the courts is a very good thing to protect the constitutional rights of us all.

I've lived in San Leandro (Washington Manor now) all of my life you idiot! My computer is connected to my business which is headquartered in Sacramento-Roseville so that's why the location shows there. You obviously still have no idea how our justice system works to protect the constitutional rights of ALL of our citizens so there is no use in trying to explain it to you any further. Even drawing you a picture wouldn't educate such a racist and sexually biased fool as you. I've never seen any cows outside my window but I'd rather look at them than at idiots like you. Now head on down to East 14th Street where you can mingle with the other cracker slackers at McDonald's. Hopefully there won't be any other races or gay people there to ruin your day! You sound like someone nobody would even be in the same room with! They ought to have your picture by the definition of "LOSER" in the dictionary! Have a nice day! LOL

First of all Fred. Good movie. "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" I seen it. good movie. I too been around San Leandro All my life. And also don't like many things. I guess I care too much for San Leandro and see how it's becoming.
seeing of your other posts. I do agree with you on many things. so I'll live it at that. I think overall. You may be a better person that I thought. too tell you the truth. When I seen the name "Fred C Dobbs" it really changed my view of you. Really.(so what call me an idiot) I just didn't pick it up till later. Regardless of our differences. Let's hope San Leandro can change for the better.

Okay JohnnyO we will declare a truce! We do agree on lots of things and both want to make San Leandro a better place to live. We both hate the increased crime rate and have a low regard for those people coming into our city and committing those crimes, regardless of what race they are...and yeah a lot of them are of THAT race (hello Section 8'ers, not all of you but a sizable minority!). We also agree that "Treasure of the Sierra Madre' is a great movie! On the other things we'll just agree to disagree! Cheers!
