so I take it, he was cheating with the girl that needed to retrieve her things. The 19 yr old walked in on them both ..... and she stirred the pot not knowing he was this off the rocker.

Poor girl, a message to all women, if you date a man in the service, please be prepare to give them space and leave the relationship quietly. Prior to dating make sure they are treated for post-traumatic stress syndrome.

personally, I would NEVER date a service man who came off a tour from Iraq. They are truly damaged once they return.

Rest in peace young girl. I wonder if this man sought mental health. Wow. The post-traumatic stress has to be dealt with. We all have to make choices. This man included. Couldn't someone close to him seek help for him?

How did you come to that brilliant conclusion? Could have been the girls together, could have been the other girl walked in, could have been anything.
Its truly a shame regardless

I agree with you, either way, this is a tragic situation. I hope she's at peace now. I just made the conclusion because earlier in the story it said the 2 girls were fighting at first. The guy answered naked (nuff said), while the other girl was outside when sheriffs arrived and she needed to go back in for her things.

The brother had said the service man wanted to end the relationship and had hoped it would be handled well, which more likely is a clue that the guy was already dating or eff-ing the other girl.

It happens all the time, some guys don't like doing the actual breaking up act, so they cheat, leave clues or bring them home to get caught.... but he was surprised when she walked in on him before being done and his new girl left upset, which made him mad enough to hurt the current girl ..... just my theory, not trying to be smart, just logical.

I live a couple blocks away and actually was coming home from the airport and drove right by the condo as the cops were running inside. Never imagined something so horrible had happened. Crazy.

the victim was a close friend of mine.
She was an amazing person.
One of those people who are always positive, always smiling.
I cant imagion how anyone could hurt her let alone beat her to death.
She was a small girl probably around 90 or so pounds.
I am sick to my stomach thinking about what happend.
I keep thinking its a joke and she is gonna call me any minute tell me just kidding with that huge smile on her face.
i miss her so much already
i hate this guy for taking her away from everyone that really loved her.
She wanted to get out of the relationship
The day before this happend she had told some people he was being abusive and they told her she needed to get out of the relationship
I know she is in a better place now watching down and giving strength to all of us that need it most right now!
i love you girl youre missed

How about this? Teach girls-even guys in high school about the effects of abusive relationships and give out resources to help those in them get out!

This is such a tragedy. I feel so badly for the families involved. This should never have happened; the mentally ill guy should have gotten help, or been intervened by his family members who mentioned that they knew he was "crazy." Girls should be warned, violent guys usually repeat their behavior. I am so sorry this young girl died. It is a loss; who knows what she would have achieved, given time.

So-Called "Post Tramatic Stress Disorder" has been around for a very long time. Only recently has it been labeled like this, before it was labeled "Battle Fatique". Every war and/or conflict creates people who are "stressed." Some handle it, some don't. The military needs to get with the program and make sure that every soldier is given a post-tour exam for symptoms of stress. My only worry is that criminals will begin using this as an excuse to get away with murder, etc. People who suffer from this disorder really do need help. Although, I'm not so sure the violence he showed was part of the stress disorder. Maybe it was just a convienent way out for him.

Ok.. This is really sad for everyone involved, but what about the GIRL? She definitely had some mental issues herself. She wrote the worst message I have ever seen on John's myspace page telling him that breaking up with her would be the worst thing he would ever do! Then, on her own page she is sending a message to this other woman - It says, "Don't get excited he will NEVER be yours".

Sounds like quite a bit if mental issues for all involved and then add alcohol to that and what do you have? A volatile and violent situation ending in murder.

Hey where did the racist comments go? Oh okay, the killer is white. If he was Black, Asian or Latino all the racist pigs would be all over this board.

Rip..poor young lady.

I don't care what his excuses are or how jealous she was - NO ONE DESERVES TO DIE LIKE THAT. He was a man, a military trained man and she, a 90 pound woman. When his time comes I hope he dies of the same violent death. Only then will justice truely be served.

In was unfair and bias to allow the father of a murderer to set up his son's defense, poison the local jury pool, and avoid the apparent white on black hate crime!
This was a hate crime against all women! She was barely 90 pounds. He is a strong, strapping, damaged, US Army veteran.
