Extinction in Humboldt County

There are 158 comments on the Eureka Times Standard story from Jul 27, 2010, titled Extinction in Humboldt County. In it, Eureka Times Standard reports that:

Felice Pace, widely read commentator on many of today's issues, concluded a recent article in Econews on the fate of the Klamath River's spring chinook: "No modern society has yet demonstrated that it has the wisdom and will to prevent the looming extinction of wild fish species." This is a stark and sorrowful statement.

That pretty much sums it up Bro Toad...
But you forgot to add that you are not very good at pulling it off...
Poor neuritic, lonely old Dave...
Don't know what a neuritic is, but Dave's not here.

Seriously, get some therapy or something.

Oh, still waiting on any actual proof you have that any person you've been ranting about is that "Road Toad" person. Put up or shut up, doofus.

Hey, Totally Wacko Paranoid (TWP)...

I notice you never responded to my post on another thread asking about that registered user out of New Hampshire/Rhode Island you also said was "Road Toad" ( http://www.topix.com/forum/city/eureka-ca/TN1... ). The one who actually posted his personal information, showing that he's not "Dave".

Why so silent? Come on, post some proof. Show your evidence, oh all-knowing one.

Insects are nearly non-existent in the Pacific Northwest now. This country should be BUG HELL. There are some flies,(not many) some gnats, a few moths, very few butterflys, the rare bee of all types, the occasional lady bug, a few mosquito's, the occasional dragonfly, a few ants the occasional caterpillar.

These are all insects that used to be in this country in huge numbers. Where have they gone?

Is it any surprise that the animals and fish that feed on these insects are disappearing too?

Can't anyone else see this?

Hasn't anyone else noticed?

I'm not talking about one species of fish here, I'm talking about almost the entire insect population of the Pacific North West! What do you suppose the animals that live on insects are going to eat? How are the flowers going to be pollinated?

Where are the so called ecologists on this?!

WAKE UP! PLEASE!

I sat by the Trinity River in Hawkins Bar for 3 hours on Labor Day, in gorgeous weather. I watched for wildlife and insects. I saw:

4 buzzards
A couple ants
1 dragonfly
1 tadpole
1 Raven
I heard No hawks, No Osprey, No Eagle, No squirrel, No birds at all.

Where is the wildlife in the north West? Why are the forests so silent?

Why do living things avoid you Bro-Toad...?

That is obvious...

Your reputation precedes you Dave Short...

It is not just people who avoid you...

Even the forest animals can sense you a dangerous, unstable threat...

Duh......!

Hey, TWP... still waiting for that proof I asked for a few messages (and quite some time) ago. Why do you keep avoiding the question? Is it that you don't have any proof and are just talking out your @$$?

Who is this Dave guy, and why do you think everyone is him? Show your proof, you Totally Wacko Paranoid!

I'm just sick of that freak derailing thread after thread with his paranoid rants, and calling EVERYONE he disagrees with "road toad" and claiming that they are, apparently, you.

He even did that to a registered user from the east coast.

It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't comb through thread after thread looking for those he thinks are "road toad" so he can pester them.

I'm not taking his words seriously, he's obviously a troll and a nutjob. It's his adverse effect on the threads that I take seriously, and I wish Topix would too.

we agree
i actually tried to reason with him early on. I tried hard. Either he's a mental defective, or purposely just likes to play stupid games, or both. I'm guessing both. But that's why I said, don't bother, I really did try the reason politely route, all that did was cause me to be his new target.

Eventually "he" will move on to some new person who engages him. I mostly just move his posts off the end and don't bother to read them. I'm not responsible for his self delusion.

Thanks for the back up and reply though I don't get a whole lot of them. But I write about scary stuff.

lol can I ask you, where you live, have you seen a healthy crop of insects of all types? this extinction i see happening here in Humboldt is horrifying. even worse is nobody seems to see it.

i guess when something annoying is gone, it's pleasant so you don't miss it, but thinking about the ramifications of a mass extinction of insect life is really a bummer.

peace and pray for the little critters

I keep telling you Bro-Toad...

Your reputation as a violent, neurotic nut-case precedes you...

Animals can sense danger...

They can sense when something is "not quite right" around them...

Even insects...

That is why all forms of life avoid contact with you Dave...

Especially the human animals...

Duh......!!!

I cannot believe you guys still enjoy jerking each other off in here. Amazing...

Good think Topix lets you do it, right? I'd be worried about how you would adjust if this all went away. You might take it out on society instead of your poor keyboards.

Believe it or not there are actual psyc of people who actually can only have an orgasm if there genitals are touching the keyboard, some have to use pain to get off. Just too weird to even think about it!
