Very sad story and sad for the parents...but ultimately it is their fault for allowing this to happen, not the Staples Center nor the Lakers! I bet some attorney will try and file suit, watch!
Actually both are responsible and the parents do have a case and will win in the law suit.

I realize that accidents happen and it only takes a second for a child to get hurt. This means responsible parents should always be keeping an eye on their child. Why is it Staples or the Laker's fault that the child died? Do people ever think that maybe a sports arena isn't a place for a toddler-especially if the parents are having a couple drinks? Children are not meant to go everywhere, perhaps the parents should have left the little explorer with a babysitter.

Their child is dead, no law suit will change that. Some attorney will want to file a law suit so he/she can make some huge sum of money. They parents will only prolong their suffering and delay healing if they file suit. Parents are always responsible for their children and these parents were quite sadly not on the job when needed. So very sad for them.

Lets hope they don't sue just think about the big time Attorneys that the Staples center will hire and the parents will more then likely have to hear things in court like its there fault they were drinking and not watching there child there Alcoholics and who knows what else there suffering enough as it is and to relive this over and over the will never heal.

Maybe they'll follow in the footsteps of the Travoltas and have another baby to replace the one they lost?

They should've either 1) found a babysitter for the night or 2) been watching their kid like a hawk!

So sad for the poor little guy :( ok... and sad for the guilt-ridden parents too :(

Sorry SGV, the complete opposite will happen here. The Parents will be investigated, and more than likely it will be found that THEY were responsible for the safety of their son. Personal responsibility people, personal responsibility. So sad.

No matter what, a parent's two year old is their responsibility. You take your two year old somewhere, you have the job of keeping them away from the dangerous areas.

Sure maybe the barrier could be higher, maybe the Lakers could have airbags under every edge higher than two feet.

Still, how do you explain a two year old running around unattended long enough to kill himself in this way? Parental failure, that's how.

WELL SAID.......... unfortunatly this had to happen for people that take their litle ones to sporting events to keep a closer eye on them ,...,,a 24mth. Baby needs 100% attention ALL THE TIME when he or she is awake...

You must not be a parent I'm guessing! Just takes an instant for these things to happen. If you're a parent you would know that!
Not trying to cap on you but blaming the parents at this point seems a little harsh!
You were raised to be a victim, as so many people are these days.

Everyone knows it takes only a moment or two for a child to get away. That's why you cannot trun your back on them for any amount of time. This IS entirely on the parents.
Some people shouldn't have children. These parents are two of them.

Thats the sad part of these forums...so much racial hate. Don't get me wrong some race jokes can be funny but when a kid dies, there should be more respect for him or her.

ACTUALLY MIKE, I AM A PARENT! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
Luxury seating area? What do you do there, besides have a few and enjoy the game???? Yes I know it ONLY takes a second! AND IF EVERY PARENT KNOWS IT ONLY TAKES A SECOND, SHOULDN'T THESE PARENT'S HAVE KNOWN! But WHYYYYYYYYY let a two year old even near the ledge? Why? To me, that's like letting a child play near the curb! Who would do such a thing! IT'S A PUBLIC FORUM, I'M ENTITLED TO MY OWN OPINION, AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIKE IT!
