You should be ashamed of your grammar. If someone comes at me with a hatchet, you can be sure I'd shoot them too. Seriously, a taser? Grow up.

1st... aren't tasers supposed to be "NON-LETHAL" weapons? 2nd... a man advancing with a hatchet... and they had to "SHOOT TO KILL"? Hes in the middle of the street as the cops are ordering the man to comply... lets see.. a shot in the leg would have stopped the suspects advancement.. and a shot in the arm would have made him drop the hatchet... but they HAD to SHOOT TO KILL.....

This is called SUICIDE by Police Officer. Always comply with officers instructions. But, if you are stupid enough to have a weapon and not comply, Well? To Serve and Protect will always come first.

Why can't the police just shoot the suspect in the arm or leg if they must shoot because the suspect is not listening. Better yet just tazer the guy, obviously he needs mental help.

A hatchet is considered a deadly weapon. The firearm was the appropriate response to such a threat. Sounds like a possible case of suicide by cop to me.

The mental health issue is most likely relevant, but it does not make the person with a weapon less dangerous to the public, the police, or themselves. In fact, one could argue it makes them more dangerous.

Just a thought...so if they shoot him in the leg, say the femoral artery... he still has the hatchet in his hand. He then bleeds out waiting for the medics. He dies. Would you consider that "shoot to kill"?

As for tasers, see the other story regarding the erratic guy they tased...and he died. Did they "shoot to kill" with the taser too?

Arms, hands, feet, legs, elbows, toes, fingers, and weapons are typically small, moving, and will not result in stopping a threat or attack. The officers responded as trained, appropriately, and justifiably...based on what we know thus far. Think about the human body, what is the biggest, least mobile target? My guess is that is where this person was hit.

For anyone who has ever played football or basketball on defense. Does your coach teach you to tackle an arm or leg? Head? No. They teach you to watch the torso.

In basketball, you can't watch the ball, the head, the arms, or the feet...you focus on the center of the body...keep that in front of you and your man won't be going around you.

Same principle here. Find the biggest available target.

It is if you live in Downey. 99.9% of the time it is Hispanics doing this kind of stupid stuff, so pointing out that this ONE time it wasn't well, that's very exciting for them

All of u point out yur point of views on the matter but yur going off what the cops said. Which we all kno can be bullshit. I personally know the brother of the victim. We need to think about the family in this kind of matter . The police didn't need to kill him and justice will get served

This is real life not a John Wayne movie. Maybe the oficer should have shot out a street light to fall on hatchet man. You try to shoot someone in the arm or leg while he's coming at you with a hatchet...You aim for the body and hope you hit something before the bad guy gets you.

Why couldn't they just shoot the hatchet out of his hands, I see stuff like that in the movies all the time. First, they should nick his left earlobe then his right earlobe, then, they should shoot his belt buckle and when his pants falls down and he trips, well, then they could all just pile on him and subdue him.

Maybe Clark Kent could jump into a phone booth and turn himself into Superman that way no one would be harmed. Yeah, I like that scenario the best.

Oh, the little factoid about two suspects dying in two days is a great touch. Now, the scummy journalist can stand back and wait for the civil rights attorneys to come crawling out from the woodwork. Oh yeah, throw a few Reverends and a couple of ACLU wackos in just for good measure. After which, get your camera crews and a pretty blond dim witted journalist and let the circus begin.

I'm sorry did I say the ACLU and the Reverends (First AME), scrap that, the second guy messed that up when he went from being Hispanic to White. We all know White people have no civil rights...RIGHT...LOL...this political correctness is like playing a board game. The biggest Victim of race, gender or religious discrimination wins.

To.."RetPD.........your statement is the reason why people hate cops!! Big men with badges..little men without. Its a know fact that 90% of the cops today only joined the force because they were picked on as kids, and this is their only way to get back.

I believe you went to the scene, not went to the seen. Also its "ashamed of themselves" not "ashamed of there selves." Just helping you with your English.
