Drivers are facing higher tolls this year to pay for road maintenance and improvement projects that are in some cases being hampered by state budget shortfalls and declining gas tax revenue, officials say.

Like aging cars, these old bridges cost the taxpayers big money in maintenance than they are worth. Of course the real motive for raising the fees is to keep the road workers paid while sitting on their behinds.
