There are 10 comments on the TwinCities.com story from Mar 18, 2011, titled '.xxx' domain name approved for online porn sites. In it, TwinCities.com reports that:

You've heard of ".com" and ".org." Joining them soon will be their bawdy cousin: ".xxx." On Friday, the board of directors of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, which oversees the Internet's naming system, approved the creation of a red-light district online for pornographic websites.

ICM Registry and its CEO, Stuart Lawley, who has led the fight
for ICANN's approval of ".xxx," stand to profit handsomely from the rollout of ".xxx" websites — because he will be in charge of collecting fees for the use of the new domains.

Still have yet to figure out how paying to publish is not in violation of free speech. Not sure who was given the right to create this authority, maybe the global warming police, or some other made up group.

When I was a child recovering fro mthe measles I went to visit my grandpa. I wasn't feeling real swell so he got out his old crock jug, poured a little into a lageg cup, added some home-made maple syrup and then topped it off with hot hater and instructed me to sip it slow and then just lay down on the couch. I felt a lot better. Well, in my opinion, anything with three X's on it can't be all bad.

This is like craigslist removing the "adult services" section but in reverse. All that did was push illegal activity to other areas of the site, it was still there, just not as visible. Here porn is already everywhere, trying to restrict it to .xxx is like trying to put the genie back in the bottle. What businessman is going to register a .xxx site when they know it will be easier to block and make it harder for people to visit their site?

My first thought was that Tipper Gore was going to be very mad at Al about this, since he claimed to invent the Internet. But since Tipper and Al are divorced now, maybe it's just another ploy by Al to make money. After all, the global warming scam has been very good to Al.

You have to pay to have your book published--which must be a violation of free speech. Why do you have to pay? Because you have to pay somebody ELSE to do it for you--they do NOT work for free. Nobody is stopping you from giving out copies for free if you write, print, and distribute yourself. Name somebody who does....

IF, I had an adult oriented site, the last thing I would want is to put ".xxx". Why would I do something that could be so easily blocked by filters? Then again, since 95% of adults here have no idea what they are surfing the 'net for anyway, maybe I should just go away and report my comment as abuse.
